I really like TFC. Infact, it's the only way I'll play Minecraft anymore. My biggest gripe with it though is the vanilla hostile mobs. I usually just end up turning it to peaceful because they annoy me so much. The first problem I have with them is the shear amount that they spawn. I probably wouldn't mind at all if their spawn rate were similar to other peaceful mobs. You can walk for like ten minutes without seeing a creature during the day, but as soon as the sun goes down it feels like you could throw a rock any direction and hit something hostile. The second thing is that TFC really makes minecraft feel more real and fantasy monsters just take me out of that immersion. The possibility of danger is exciting, but I would like to see it come in the form of bears and wolves (much faster and potentially aggressive than they currently are), tigers, lions, sharks, bandit parties, hostile natives, and other more "real world" threats. Also, I played on a TFC server a while ago and I remember there being lanterns which was a nice permanent (you may have had to add fuel occasionally but I cant remember) light source. Was that a mod because I can't find anything in the wiki about it. Any other vanilla TFC option for light other than torches, jackolanterns and redstone? One last question, is there any way to find things like graphite and kaolinite other than finding the types of rock they spawn in and prospecting the hell out of the surface? It's been a long time since I've played TFC. I couldn't find any current info on the topic of whether or not wild animals (deer, bears, pheasants etc) ever respawn. I found something that said bears can despawn, but it wasn't clear about respawning. I like to hunt deer, but knowing that if I kill them I will never find another in the area is kind of a bummer.
