      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Future of Chisels and planks in TFC2

RIPperino detail mode.I'm really fine with just the 1/8th-of-the-block stair mode, all I need to make roofs look reasonable. As long as we can still do that, I'm happy.
  2. Lead Crusing Weapons

I could see lead possibly being used for a low-durability blunt weapon like a primitive mace. More durability than a stone hammer, but far less than a real mace. Possibly only a single ingot's worth, as a double-ingot of lead might simply be too heavy realistically to bother swinging around.
  3. Okay, finally updated. Thanks for the work, Nyssa. Just like normal minecraft, I don't think I can play with vanilla graphics.
  4. I like these ideas. It would be great to have torches that burnt undead in their radius, instead of just letting you see the dozens of them that are coming for you, and glue (or some reasonable facsimile) would make it so you could actually build a cobblestone house. I see plenty of use for these gadgets.
  5. My little fort

Well, 'little' is kind of accurate, since I'd need a larger forge and a whole item storage structure (cause I keep a lot of stuff). Maybe even a wood shed. But that would use so much wood...Thanks.
  6. How did you find out about TFC?

Basically, the data for stones and metals was basically copied directly from DF, no other game that isn't copying DF in some way uses the same stones and metals, because no other game is trying to achieve that much realism.
  7. Elemental damage types & weapons

TFC2 is going to be a pretty different game, I don't know if it'll be called 'realistic survival' when it releases. TFC1 will always be available, though.
  8. My little fort

Thanks. :DUsually I make a tower design, but opted for more of a fort this time, so the roof turned out a little... different from my usual affair.
  9. My little fort

Aha, probably... I don't always update it until it gets way behind. Thanks for the pack, by the way.
  10. Favorite Heavy Metal Band?

My list is kind of all over the place from various rocks to metals: Blue Oyster Cult, Rush, Queensryche, Scorpions, Manowar, Rammstein, Rhapsody, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Hammerfall, (old) DragonForce, Van Halen, Triumph...
  11. Clothing

We can?! I had NO idea about that.
  12. Elemental damage types & weapons

I would love to see more generated structures like fortresses and huts and stuff. Absolute flavor bombs built right into the world. Even if they did nothing but sit there, it would be cool. With the new trees and rivers, pre-generated structures are great.Having to conquer islands to really move along them is a really cool progression idea, really gives the player a reason to go out into the world: if you want new materials, then you need to make the next island safe using the materials you already have access to. This is, of course, opposed to TFC1, where you go out and hope to strike it rich somewhere, and might simply be SOL in some cases.
  13. Clothing

Would be cool to have clothing, but you still can't really have that for a while (casting age because of the loom requirement), when you really need clothes is early on in the stone age, especially if you're starting off in a cold or hot area. Clothes- and especially leather- are far away, but you need to defend from zombies bears and other wildlife immediately, so I'd say simple hide and/or straw clothing should definitely be the very bottom tier and easily accessible, as others have stated. It could also be feasible to make use of the hundreds of feathers one can collect from wild birds to insulate clothing as down. Down and hide/fur? Awesome winter clothes right there. Besides temperature management and defense, I look at wearable items as needing to have an effect on overall mobility. Wearing hide/straw should slow the player just a bit, like 5% or something, as hide is not too flexible, but still better than real metal armor, and straw is pretty uncomfortable (try the bed!) to move around while wearing.
  14. My little fort

My current world (5th one) is kind of a mixed bag. Lots of great wood around, and I started right next to an olive tree. There's some copper and hematite nearby, with bismuth and sphalerite scraps (but apparently no veins I can find). But I'm on an island, and nowhere within a week of travel in any direction has any flux stone, salt, or cassiterite samples. My world can't even load chunks that far out after a while. But even though my progress is pretty protaic, I made a nice fort with a lot of wood I liked and feel bad about wanting to restart. Anyway, it's not much, but I felt like showing it off anyway. My typical roof style, I think I've done this in every TFC world I've had. Sometimes I leave it open-air, sometimes I close it up, depends how cold the area is. Both small under-roof areas will be accessible, to shoot at zombies and whatnot. Added on the forge wing, though I should have made it a bit bigger. At this point I really was hard-up for wood. Top is exposed under the rooftop to drop stuff into the bloomery. Better view of under the roof, open-air stairwell, and access to the forge wing's open area. Inside the forge wing is a little small... if I could actually find flux (I can't), I'd have an actual anvil. I have a crucible, but damned if I can get an anvil. A sort of open-air patio spot below the over-arching roof. I haven't done anything with it yet.
  15. How did you find out about TFC?

I've been reading these forums for a while now, and finally decided I might as well just register. I love TFC and not planning on stopping it any time soon, and with the TFC2 hype train...Anyway. At least a year ago, I used to play on a survival server, and as fun as minecraft is, there was not really any challenge to it. Within a couple of days I was a god and my castle was made of iron and diamond blocks. There was no reason to bother playing only to start over, and the best days were the first few where you actually played to hide from monsters. I've been a big fan of Dwarf Fortress for many years, and I really thought minecraft should be more like single-player DF (even adventurer mode). I would complain that trees should completely come down when broken, dirt and stone shouldn't defy gravity, there should be more metals and more block creativity, and the ground should not have a huge pit in it every fifty blocks. Someone mentioned TerraFirmaCraft. Now generally I was not one for mods: minecraft mods were usually difficult to install and get working properly, so I usually avoided them. But when I saw what TFC had to offer, I was intrigued.√Tons of trees?√Trees chop down with one broken log?√Dirt and cobble falls?√No lava everywhere?√Tan leather?√Mortar for bricks?√Stone age foraging for food and metals?√All the same stone and layers from DF so I know where to find stuff already?√Smithing?√Good weapons and armor?√Lumber stacks?√Not being able to put everything in the world into just a few chests?√Placing wood as sticks to make shapes?√Chisel tool?!It amazed me that all of this was possible from a mod. Is TFC perfect? No, I do have occasional issues with it.But it's great for being a Minecraft mod, and I have not played vanilla since. I cannot bear doing so.
