      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. stoneage, copperage, bronze age way to fast (modified)

The time it takes between different ages is a very interesting question. I see some problems with all levels. Tier 0 -> Tier 1: You're right that it's extremely easy to create copper tools, because of the panning system. With a bit of luck you can find tin / silver / bismuth & zinc, and just skip copper tools (but not anvil, remember that!) But you need to remember that the stone age is very boring. You need to stay home half of the time because you cannot fight mobs, and there is very little content. Making it longer will make the beginning very long, exhausting and boring. Tier 1 -> Tier 2: The copper age consists only of finding a vein of tin, gold (rose gold anvil), or bismuth & zinc. This is a very short age, and it should be longer. As you have basic armor, and tools like chisel and saw, you can start building things, dealing with mobs, making farms and such. It is not realistic that you need a better kiln for bronze, but maybe it's worth it for making this age longer. Maybe the crucible idea is a good one, even though finding graphite & kaolinite is very hard with only copper tools. (Remember, until now a crucible is needed only for tier 4 metal, not tier 2). As Allen said /, the main limit was knowledge, and a way to simulate it could be casting limiting. I have ideas for other ages as well, but I don't want to get off topic.
  2. I saw bug reports about this bug, and I remembered it happened to me as well. I tested around and found a way to reproduce it. Version #: 78.17 SSP/SMP (Single/MultiPlayer): Single Player Suggested Name: Disappearing Double Ingot Suggested Category:Annoying Description:Follow the steps carefully! Don't leave anvil GUI at any point! 1. Weld two ingots into a double ingot. Don't remove it from the output slot! 2. Place two new ingots in the welding spots. 3. Remove the double ingot from the anvil, and press the weld button (you have to be still holding the double ingot!) 4. Once you put the ingot you're holding inside your inventory, the ingot inside the anvil should disappear. You are still able to pick the (now invisible) ingot up, but it's completely glitched. You can craft with it (the output slot of the table will be empty, but you can remove the anvil out of it, exactly as with the ingot previously, the anvil won't be glitched though). Once you stack the glitched ingot with other ingots, it disappears forever. Was tested on copper, steel, black & blue steel ingots. Works with blue steel sheets and when welding weak steel with pig iron. I believe it works for any welding operation (when the first and second welding operations are the same, not ingots and then sheets). Have you deleted your config files and are still able to reproduce this bug?: Yes Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed?: No
  3. Cheese OP?

Hey guys, Yesterday I started a new world, and spawned near some sugar cane. On the second day I went exploring and found cows. On the third day I created a copper saw and started the cheese making. From that point on (using only 2 female cows) I created80 oz.of cheeseEACH DAY. This just seems absurd. In a very short time an enormous amount of food can be created, and it can be created practically on demand. It works in every season (unlike crops), and takes only 12 in game hours (unlike crops & animal reproduction)! This is the most OP and unfair source of food to date. Opinions? Yours, Dark_Demon
  4. Modern-ish Pottery

Hey guys! I have two issues with pottery as it is: 1. The crucible is never heated. Using "uncooked" clay as a crucible doesn't seem like a good idea. 2. The pit kiln. I don't like it late game. Seems weird and annoying to need to collect straw for this, we're civilized people. I see three ways to improve this: 1. We heat wood to very high temperatures to create charcoal. Correct me if I'm wrong, but pottery should harden at these temperatures. Meaning, any pottery that finds itself inside a charcoal pit, should harden. I think that even if any other idea is used (even staying with pit kiln) this should be the only way to harden a crucible, as it is so big. 2. Charcoal could be used instead of straw and wood. Pottery is placed inside the pit, and covered by 6 pieces of charcoal. (Because of the space the pottery takes, the lower half of the block uses only 2 pieces of charcoal). 3. A stove could be crafted (say circle of sheets) and placed on a working forge. The stove GUI would allow to place a bunch of pottery in it (probably more than 4), and after a while the clay will harden. I would love to hear opinions on these ideas and any other ideas you guys have Yours, Dark_Demon
  5. Hello everyone! After finishing the metal chain, I decided to write a post about my opinions and ideas about the mod. I have to start with the fact that the mode is absolutely amazing. The depth, the complexity. Just stunning. Taking the best aspects of real-life survival and combining with minecraft, which misses difficulty in the survival aspect. But there are issues in my opinion, which make me describe the mod as "incomplete". First, the survival is hard only in the beginning, and afterwards, it is extremely easy. Why? 1. After making a bed, there is no reason what so ever to ever meet mobs. They don't drop anything useful what so ever (zombies and wrought iron ingots being the only exception, and it is just not worth it), and you don't meet them underground, because cave exploring is stupid because of the way ores spawn. 2. You can collect enough seeds and bushes on the first summer for eternity. Once every year or so you'll have to kill a single animal, but that's it. Second, colored steels aren't worth it, at all. I never used a tool of higher tier than steel. a. Nickel is just so so rare. b. On SP, they just take too much time and effort. c. Good weapons and armor aren't useful late-game, because you don't meet any mobs, ever. d. The smallefficiency boost does not compensate for the huge waste in metals. black steel ingot uses 150% steel ingots, and a bunch of other metals, and has only ~140% of the durability of steel. red/blue steel ingot uses 250% steel ingots, and even more other metals, and has only ~200% of the durability of steel. Third, after finishing the metal chain, there is nowhere to go. There is a feeling that something is missing, if the colored steels are the goal, why do they have uses? If I finish at blue steel, will I have a chance to use the bucket? The way I see to fix all of these issues, is late-game content. Even adding a bunch of achievements, without changing the mod at all, can give a reason to go fight mobs and create colored steels. Or a boss fight. Mob drops will allow access to the fight and say placing water and lava will be needed as well. The boss can be made too hard to deal with without very high tier weapons and armor. This mod is amazing, and in my opinion can be even more amazing. I would love to hear others opinions on those issues & ideas. Yours, Dark_Demon p.s. as promised, my red/blue monument:
  6. TFC is missing a goal

The word "challenge" you quoted says it all. When people start hardcore challenges, what is the goal at the end? When I play a survival mod, I want to have something to try and achieve. Something to justify everything I'm doing, even if there is no real reason other then my fun. The point of a goal is to justify everything else, it just makes you feel like you achieved something big.
  7. TFC is missing a goal

Hello all! I'm new to this mod, and I'm enjoying it very much. One thing really bothers me about it though, and it's the lack of a goal. Survival minecraft has the ender dragon as a goal for survival challenges. TFC has nothing like that. After building red & blue steel armor and tools, what is there left to do? What is there to aim for? And if my goal is to make red & blue steel armor and tools, what will I ever use a red steel bucket for (by the time I have it, I finished the challenge)? I'm not really good at the creative side of minecraft, I like survival with a goal at the end. And as a strictly survival mod, the lack of a goal seems really strange. Please no one take this the wrong way, I love the mod, and I'm trying to share my thoughts and (just maybe) improve it. Yours, Dark_Demon
