      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Beer and Salt

So I was running around on my server picking up rocks and sticks and avoiding getting murdered by the horde of zombies that spawned outside of the cave my friends have been using as a makeshift shelter while we search for a sufficient copper vein. Suddenly I noticed my hunger bar was nearly depleted and figured i would feast on some of the fine venisonI had killed a few days earlier when i discovered to my horror that I am in fact an idiot and had let the meat decay and was forced to murder my friend over the cooked chicken he had on him. As i stood over his body and listened to his cries of rage over skype i was filled with sorrow for my actions, anger at my stupidity in not preserving the meat properly, and an idea i felt i should share with you fine gentlemen/women.... Idea 1 Beer I know beer and other alcoholic beverages have been added to the game, but if memory serves they are currently disabled undergoing modification. My idea is that they become the primary method of storing crops for extended periods of time. By placing several of a specific grain in to a barrel and sealing it for a period of time, and then possibly requiring additional steps depending on how sadistic the developers feel at the time, the player can create a semi permanentstorage for their crops over the winter or for mining camps in remote locations. In exchange for the blessing of some long term storage of food the alcohol should provide a less hunger and perhaps not fill the grain or fruit bar to encourage players to continue to store some of their fruit and grain with more traditional methods. Idea 2 Salt from Saltwater Back to the point i have noticed that depending on your luck finding rock salt can be difficult, on the current world in which i had to become Cain over some chicken salad we haven't found any yet and thinking back i am not sure if my previous server i discovered any either. That very well could simply be my own luck and the world seeds that i got but it if it has happened to me then it could happen to others and thus the idea is still valid. The idea is that you collect a bucket full of salt water and boil away the water to be left with a variable amount of rock salt. Now the boiling away water becomes the tricky bit, it strains common sense to assume that you just put a wood bucket(because pre-red/blue steel is the time frame I think needs the help) over fire to boil away water without destroying bucket in the process there seems to be 2 simple solutions. First assume that the water in the bucket prevents it from catching fire via some reason that doesn't really matter because its a game and not real life and thus the bucket is spared a fiery death and you are given a small amount of rock salt. The other is to have the user fill up a barrel with salt water and then either let it sit or seal it and walk away and have the water simply evaporate/absorb into the wood, and then return to harvest a far larger amount of rock salt for their uses. Well there are my ideas, if i missed somewhere where it is clearly posted that the developers are tired of food preservation suggestions then i apologize and we can talk about npc's if you want....One thing i wanted to add is that these are based on the believed practices of man from the time periods covered by tfcraft. My one history major associate kept going on about how beer is the reason for the domestication of grains since it allowed them to travel farther with food and got them buzzed, and salt throughout history has been made from sea water far more often than being dug out of the ground, in fact one of Gandhi's arrests involved making salt from the Indian ocean as opposed to buying it from the British. So please tell me what you guys thing, if it is a horrible idea and you want me to shut up just say so, if it doesn't suck but would be a major pain in the ass to code please tell me that too.
