      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Forest Spirits/Deku Tree

That was beautiful Menoch... You turned me.
  2. Another Idea... Aesthetic Cave Crystals

Kimble made a very good point in another thread. Why not have actually gem crystals -obviously with different grades- like rare (amethyst, garnet, tourmuline), very rare (topaz, opal, beryl), and some of them EXTREMELY rare (rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and emeralds). Each would have not just a generic crystal shape, but the actual shape and size it really forms in! Gemstones like Opal, Jade, Jasper, and Agate would have to be handled differently though, as their are not actual large "crystals" in the common sense of the word. Infinus, help me out here! I need deeper geoligy knowledge.
  3. On Replacement/Removal of the HUD

I am still trying to think of how you could get away with having no health bar. I mean, I hate to be thinking so limitedly but don't you need a health bar so you know how much you have left? For you know, going into battle and stuff...? I mean IRL you know approximately how many more hits you can take cause its your body. How can you simulate that in game in a organic way?
  4. Spelunking.

Am I the only one who thinks Rook's image of a cave is pretty awesome? It too a while for him to actually spit out what he was trying to say but now that he has I really like it. How can you be so intelligent and like able yet so ornery and mean? Seriously, you're screwing with my head... Edit: now I read Asabeliefs post. I see now. I feel kind of sad now... Why couldn't we all just be civil? Seriously. If you aren't mature enough to be able to deal with that then you need to take a serious look at your life. To move on topic guys, here, is a really good idea! I KNOW RIGHT?
  5. On Replacement/Removal of the HUD

This is great an totally fits with the feeling of TFC. It would force you to always have water and food with since you don't know EXACTLY when you are going to starve or get thirsty. Here is the kicker though: how would you deal with the health bar?
  6. Colonial Technology

If you disagree with me on the wind and water mills than actually explain how you think they should work in detail and we will go for there :)/>. You are not giving any details... I also think you are getting to hooked up in our planet's time line saying TNT wasn't that long after steam power. The world of TFC is not earth and technology could develop however we want it to within the boundries of believability. TNT requires complex chemistry which does not fit with the feel of TFC. Steam power is much more fitting. Besides, steam power is NOT a confirmed feature. You are treating it like it is a comfirmed feature.
  7. Colonial Technology

Before Dunk comes in a stomps all this, I'm going to put in my 0.02$. Water/wind mills: You present a good concept. That is, a ancient yet incredibly effective source of mechanical power. You say you would use it to automatically mill grain. These would actually fit within TFC's time frame and if iron was required to make the gears they would be a pretty balanced game play wise. However, if these were to be implemented a whole myriad of building techniques would have to be implemented because Bioxx does not add features (at least, ones that are not temporary fixes) that use the crafting bench. Besides. All that work to simply automate grain production? The amount of raw cereal crops that would have to be grown to actually justify that kind of infrestucture is ridiculous. In my humble opinion, I do not think this fits in TFC. I will wait to see what Dunk says though. Saw mills: again, I love the concept, but as far as implementation, in game balance, and purpose this idea is even more lack luster. First off such a contraption would need powering from something, or constant manning. Constantly manning it would defeat the purpose of creating the darn thing in the first place. After all, a sawmills purpose is to automate wood production. And powering it? The only thing that you could power it within TFC's time frame is, wait for it, a windmill or watermill! However, the amount of moving parts and complex contrustion involed in such a contraption would be immense, and more suited to something like industrialcraft or better than wolves. So, no. TNT: I'm sorry, but I'm just gonna make this one short and not very sweet. You don't know anything about explosives. Both TNT and Dynamite require the use of complex chemistry to create. Not fitting for TFC. HOWEVER, TFC happens to have all the ingredients for black powder, as you noted. The use of black powder, in some sort of water tight container such as a small barrel with a fuse attached would be a perfect TFC explosive and has been suggested before. Now on to the dousie. Muskets... Here is where Bioxx's opinion and my own go in different directions. Bioxx has clearly stated NO GUNS! However I think with the right improvements to Archery, like the metal arrow heads that are recoverable, a damage buff, and more realistically accurate longbows with a proper crafting system instead of just sticks and string on a work bench, Muskets could be a balanced late game addition to the game. That is, With the right amount of inaccuracy and a very slow reloading system (my personal idea is to have to stop, place your musket in your inventory crafting square, place a new lead ball, a patch, and a "piece" of powder [the smallest unit of powder, similar to a single piece of flux] to turn your unloaded musket into a loaded musket, then once you fire it you must reload it again) I think Muskets have their merits and deserve to be explored and discussed. before Dunk just stomps on them. TL;DR: water/wind mills: No, to complicated with little reward. Saw mills: No, too overpowered and complicated to implement. TNT sticks: No, powder kegs instead. Muskets: possibility, needs more refinement and discussion. P.S; Dunk has given us a teaser of a late game power system to replace redstone... Steam power. A way to use all the now useless metals in a late game technology.
  8. Use for bones

Talking about a de rail counts as a de rail guys. That question could have been PM'd :)/> On topic, someone should create a thread for the bones as a decoration... That is actually a really good idea!
  9. Name Me!

WHAT IN THE NAME OF MENOCH'S ANALS IS GOING ON HERE?!?!? there was four pages this morning.... Four pages! There is ten now! Ten pages! Six pages of solid derail.... Mother of god Crysyn didn't know what he was doing when he confined all details to the off topic, this sub forum is gonna explode. Haha though seriously, it's funny how much more popular off topic is now. It's nice to have all the off topic were its supposed to go
  10. Forest Spirits/Deku Tree

This is a very well thought out idea bud but remember what Dunk said? There isn't gonna be any overhaul updates like this in TFC1. Once TFC2 is out, and all the important stuff is done like animals, crypts, terrain generation, construction, and all that good stuff THEN maybe the devs will add the epic fantasy stuff like the dragon in my sig or the new and overhauled nether or the overhauled end.
  11. To help your self control :3 (definitely NOT a self-help post)

Don't feed the troll guys! Don't do it!
  12. Dunk on Spumwack's server.

    He's doing it again o.O
  13. Post your TFcraft Pictures

Holy SHIT! That is some intense chisel work!!! Wow, was that done in survival?!
  14. TFC2!

So guys, as you all know, Bioxx is working on "a total re-write of TFC". What do you think will be included in this re write? Is he just streamlining things? Ironing out bugs and improving performance? Of is he implementing some of the drastic updates that have been planned for a while like the animals update and Crypt update? The big question is though, is TFC2 still going to be a mod? Discuss away!
  15. Clay Mechanics for the Clueless Developer

    Killster is right.
  16. TFC2!

Killster, this is a discussion thread. You really ought to tell us! I don't know how to use the IRC. ...please?
  17. Which other forum did you join apart tfc?

You are entertaining. I like you.
  18. Merry Christmas!

Sooo. How's that animation going Kimble?
  19. Curiosity

Perhaps IGN thinks that some one who wants to spend they're time tapping away at a virtual cube with no real hope of any accomplishment is the same sort of loser who would play a sex game. Badum tiss!
  20. It's -20 outside right now where I live. In Fahrenheit. Bitch please.
  21. Anyway to store logs or tools?

Sweet! White Christmas has been saved.
  22. Anyway to store logs or tools?

...*facepalm*. Totally just failed at climatology. I'm embarrassed now... Your point is well given. However I must ask, is there any area short of the poles (the magical 20 k mark) that drops below 0 in the winter? The sequoia zone? Because snow (I know it's broken now, but it will be fixed eventually) doesn't occur until the temp drops below 0. And once there is snow on the ground, it WILL melt if the temp is raised above 0. So if there is no area besides the poles that drops below zero and stays there in the winter than that means there will be no snowy winters in TFC once snow is fixed! ...Which would be sad...very sad...
  23. Anyway to store logs or tools?

This makes no sense though. If that was true than it would mean that TFC's temp spread is severely flawed. I live half way I between the equator and the pole (almost exactly amusingly enough) and the temp goes below 0 regularly each winter. In fact, it normally goes below -30 Celsius! In lack of hard evidence, as much as I trust and respect you JAG, I am going to believe that Bioxx would not overlook that the temp should drop below 0 during the winter months in locations past roughly 8000 Z over you saying that it does not. I hope I'm not coming across as a dick.
  24. Anyway to store logs or tools?

I think you're wrong again JAG. Crops can't possibly take a full year to mature because as you know, when the temperature falls below 0 Celsius crops die. And during a full year cycle, the temp should always drop below 0 at least once. This would make successfully growing a crop to maturity would be in possible in all but equatorial climates. Since crops HAVE been raised to maturity in non-equatorial environments, logic dictates you are wrong. I was under the impression you could plant your crops in the spring and harvest them by fall.... So, very roughly 60 days?
  25. Anyway to store logs or tools?

Hello Akanos! Welcome to TFC! :)/>/> To answer your first question, you may store logs by use of Log Piles. Simply select a log in your hot bar, and then shift click it on the ground. You may then pile more logs into the pile by clicking regularly with the log or Un-selecting the log and clicking it with anything else to open the log pile GUI and deposit logs that way. As for your second question, about 30 in-gamedays I believe...? It's a good while. In order to learn more about TFC you should refer to the Wiki. It's not complete and is a work in progress but it already has a lot of good information. I hope you enjoy TFC and our community! Remember, always search before you post and idea, never double post, and above all always be friendly! Cheers, ~Trey Edit: Gah! Sort-of-ninja'd by JAG! Except it doesn't count because you gave him the wrong info. He asked for how long wheat takes to grow, not trees :D/> Edit #2: In the future Akanos, please refer to the support section for questions, ok? It's not that big of a deal but sticking to the right section is generally a good idea. P.S: Nice username! Does that have a special significance to you?
