      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. "That's why I've said the people need to be as equally armed as the government, or close to it. The government should never have that kind of power while the American people don't. That's a dangerous situation. And the government shouldn't be able to just up and kill anyone when they want to, that's blatantly unconstitutional.

And 50 million+ armed Americans + military defectors (most of the army wouldn't side with a federal power-grab) would defeat 100,000 or so federal government goons any day. Never underestimate the power of the American people. We defeated the most powerful army on earth with little more than a couple hundred thousand guys with hunting muskets and a few cannons. "

Waaaaiit, you want everyone to have drones and nuclear weapons? And no, we would lose. That's the scary thing about drones. The people rising up wouldn't really matter. 1000 people with the right equipment could hold off billions of civilians.

Look, I made my point, and you proved it. You clearly believe to strongly in your view points to have your mind changed. That's the thing about you guys, you just have faith, not critical thinking. If new information came my way, I would change my opinion. Like when I found out about how much of a monster president Clinton was. And how bad Hilary would be (although not as bad as Trump, God forbid). So I changed my mind after observing facts. You won't change. But your kind is slowly dying out. Education is becoming better, information is more free, more people are realizing how fucking ridiculous the Bible actually is. I hope some day I'll be able to tell stories about the crazy right wing religious nuts to my grandkids, and that they won't believe me. Adios.

  2. Wait a minute, you actually think having guns would help us fight the government in a worst case scenario? You're crazy. The government's weapons so far outstrip guns it would be like taking a toothpick into a medieval battle. If the government wanted you dead, you'd already be dead.

Also your statement about most corporations being leftist is false. Look at the donation lists for the conservative canidates. It's like a who's who of the richest people in America.

Here is what it comes down to. The party system is an elaborate game designed to turn the people against themselves. The real enemy is not conservatives or liberals, it's the 1%. The people who control all the wealth and don't give a flying fuck about the middle class. You talk about Sweden being such a horrible place, but they outstrip us in every category except defense budget and the number of adults who believe in angels.

I'm pretty sure you and I want the same things. Safety for our families. Equal rights to all people, regardless of race, gender, cultural background, religion, or sexual orientation. The ability to make a living wage. Hospitals we can go to without going into debt for the rest of our lives. GOOD education for our children. Quality food, not pumped full of poisons. The right to pursue happiness.

Instead of fighting among ourselves, bickering over semantics, we should unite and focus our efforts. Only through cooperation will we create a better future for our children.

  3. About trees, when I have nothing to do, I craft a metal axe and go south to chop a part of the douglas fir forest, because that forest gives me lag, but there are many minerals near it, so when I have some spare time, I go down there and chop. I also get lots of wood for charcoal this way.

    Dude, you're alive!

  4. I like the idea of possibly needing a certain tier of pickaxe to mine a type of stone (and any ore in that stone). So you could make it to redsteel using a copper pick, but it would be a pain to find the right mineral in the right stones.

Intriguing concept, if balanced correctly. Perhaps instead of completely being unable to mine the stone if you have too low tier of a pickaxe, it's just slow. Even more interesting, what if the lower the tier, the higher the slowness penalty? Example: First off, just for simplicities sake, think of the four classes of stone as not geologically different but as tier 1, 2, 3a, and 3b. Starting with Sedimentary and ending with the two sub-types of Igneous. If you try to mine tier 1(sedimentary) stone with a tier 1 pick (copper), everything will be normal. However, if you take a tier 1 pick to tier 2 stone a minor mining speed penalty (say that 10 times fast) will be applied. Said mining speed penalty will increase as you try to use it on harder and harder stone types. This means that tier 3a stone will still be possible to mine with a tier 1 pick, but the penalty will be large enough that it would be a rather unpleasant job. However, the difference scales. What I mean is with a tier 2 pick (bronze), both tier 1 and 2 stone is at normal mining speed AND the penalties do not start until tier 3a, and the third level of penalty does not exist, since there is only two tiers of stone above said tier 2 pickaxe. Go to tier three (iron) and you only get a minor debuff on the only the absolute hardest stone. Finally, a tier 4 (steel) pickaxe receives no penalties at all. I am of the opinion that this would add both to gameplay and believability, without adding excessive tedium. P.S: if steel seems too laborious to indirectly encourage players to upgrade from iron, I would not be overtly opposed to lumping both types of igneous into the same stone tier for the purposes of this idea. So an iron pick axe is all you need to recive no mining speed penalty.P.P.S: I will post this in a separate topic if it "survives" a roughly a page of discussion.P.P.P.S: I claim the intellectual rights to the above content, except in the unlikely scenario that this EXACT conceptual idea has been posted in a topic on these forums. ;) Copyrighted under file 1816: 20Jcs/n07h/24Kar/92Evf0_B5****1ha13-ha-377[offtopic]^^^This is a four layer code with a bonus round. The spoiler below is the key to the code in riddle form. Important clues are italicized and minor clues are underlined. The bold/capitalized is purely aesthetic, I promise (basically where to raise your voice while speaking it).

    "Mwuhahahaha,

numbers are very funny!Especially when you count.Which I like to do!But numbers don't count unless they are all about; The end result! And that's just what you'll be if you don't listen to me, Honey......_____________________________________________________________In fact you're so sweet, I got you a special treat. Here's the directions; go right, then left, another right, another left, and another right until you've LEFT your sane state of mind! You may say I'm random. Possiblely insane! But really, true randomness is impossible. Rest assured, there IS a method to my madness! Why so glum? You're no Dum Dum. This is as simple as one, two, three, four, and a five! Right?Well?! Have you lost your tongue? Do NOT make me repeat myself! I'm almost done talking, I'm just about done helping you out. Riddle me this, or I'll be in a pout; How will you give me my answer with lips so tight?I'm wasting my time. I'm done with you! Before I depart, I'll give you one last clue. You're no Hero, you're just a Zero! And you. Don't. Count."

Feel free to try and take a crack it if you wish :). However please PM me if you think you have solved a layer instead of posting so as to not ruin the fun for others! [/offtopic]

  5. Provided sufficiently fitting circumstances, I can consider dispensing modest quantity of hugs. However, on the forums, where people should debate/discuss things.. blah.

    My point is this:

Yes, by the 'word of law' (A.K.A these forum's rules) I should not have started this thread. However, I am of the opinion that under the 'spirit of the law' I committed no crime. Here is why:

A big part of the point of not making duplicate threads (correct me if I am wrong here kitty), is so when the Developers and general forum users want to look at the discussion subforum, it is clean, concise, and informative.

Yes there was a minor violation of the rules on my part technically but my intentions justify the offense. "How so?" You ask? I'll make this as simple as possible to avoid any more conflict in this thread, with *sort of* a mathematical format.

Thank You's to the Developers (T for 'thank you') = said Developers feeling fppreciated (A for 'appreciation')

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Developers feeling appreciated (A) = more motivation to work (M for 'more motivation')

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

more motivation to work (M) = more work getting done (W for 'work done')

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

more work getting done (W) = game & community progress (Game Progress for 'game & community progress')

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Or in Algebraic format, with two separate solved equations (just for simplicities sake as Math cannot measure emotional concepts... yet) it would be;

    T+A+M+W = Game Progress.

    ___________________________________________

    Game Progress = EVERYONE HAPPY!

So in conclusion, more threads like this logically harm nothing, unless they get to the point where it becomes 'spammy'.

If that scenario happens (highly unlikely) I will stand down from protecting my position that this is does not break "the spirit of the law".

Still not convinced for some reason? Okay fine, I will set aside logic and delve into the murky depths of personal opinion, simple as ABC.

A: I started a new thread because (after much thought and deliberation) I thought (and still do) I could do it better.

B: Here is the core reason why it is okay for me to do that (I.M.H.O); I legitimately started this thread out of kindness, not vanity.

C: Therefor saying I am "'Self-proclaimed spokesman for the community thanking the developers in an open letter'" is, by my logic...

    FALSE!

Now let us stop bickering and start the 'metaphorical hugs'! Because ultimately, what comes around goes around guys and gals. What would you want as a developer? Bureaucratic bickering? Or organized appreciation? Answer truthfully or not at all.

    Let the 'Thanking' continue, please!

  6. That makes you 6 months late. D:

This is Off Topic, there is no such thing as "late" here. Time is all about perception!Edit; @AllenWL; Off Topic is the last hide out of the TFC veterans. This is the only place it is okay to derail... since it is conceptually (although if anyone can, it's us) impossible to go off topic in an "Off Topic" forum section. A.K.A: A mix of Anime, Floating Eyeball, Wolf Lord, Sergeant Noodles, Ninja, and Dragon ¡Dêråìlmęnt Mägįc! *jedi mind trick* ;)

  7. While the idea is realistic, I am ambivalent at best toward coding, adding graphic and basically spending lot of work for a whole new facility designed to be used only in one particular case to make one type of item (even if in different colors). I am not very much against it but I do think that using the saw is - as much as realistically inaccurate - an easy and comfortable simplification, working quite well.

I am of this same opinion. Visitor stole the words out of my mouth ;)

  8. Don't want to spoil the fun of praising people, good work on the part of the devteam not being questioned - but do we really need another 'Self-proclaimed spokesman for the community thanking the developers in an open letter' thread on a single page of the forum? It's nice that people are thankful and appreciative, but I really believe one active praise thread was working just well.

I have short term memory loss, JK. But seriously, totally spaced on that thread. However, you can never have enough gratitude :)To be fair this thread is more structured than the post you mentioned. But if you really want to be the Debbie Downer here, be my guest! ;)

  9. I remember not too long ago, dunk said at one point adding a decay system would be impossible. Yet here we have one.

The same was said about a temperature feature. Yet one is in the works.

I don't know if anyone even dreamed about the awesome pit kiln systems and clay vessels until it was implemented.

    Health and hunger overhaul? Crazy!

It's easy to think about all the amazing things TFC could have, but I think now and then we should stop and look at the amazing piece of art (and yes it is art) Bioxx, Dunkleosteus, and others have given us out of the goodness of their hearts. For free. I'd love it if everyone who reads this would take a second to say thank you to the Developers and perhaps include a snippet of our favorite feature. It doesn't have to be long, heck it doesn't need to be well thought out or grammatically correct. I just think it would be cool to have a thread the Devs could look at and see all of our appreciation in one place. To me personally that would be very motivating.

So let us give thanks! :) I'll start.

Thank you for the amazing and beautiful world gen we have! The depth, variety, and aesthetics greatly exceed vanilla.

Now my favorite aspect of minecraft (exploring) is so much more rewarding!

You have breathed new life into an already revolutionary game, to create something totally different. TFC to me, truly is the greatest game. Even though it's a mod and is still in beta!

I will be donating once I have enough spare money for it to be worthwhile.

(To you too Kitty, I have not forgotten you ;))

    Cheers,

  10. These would make more sense than wooden refrigerators. First of all, they're ancient. Secondly, they are effective in the absence of ice. Thirdly, the only thing necessary to make them happen is access to two differently sized clay vessels (which I thought I read is coming...big vessels ftw), sand, and water. So, it should be stupidly easy to code (I think...I know nothing).Edit: forgot the linkhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pot-in-pot_refrigerator

The suggestion forum is your friend...While I feel bad calling out this particular post after so many suggestions have been made here, I think this is the line in the sand where it has turned into a suggestion thread. Plus I'd like to have a topic for that refrigerator, it's a great idea. Searching through pages of a topic in the wrong place is silly

  11. It's not a bad idea. As ziat007 said, wood is preferable for sure. Don't be surprised if I use some of what you have here :)

Bioxx, for the love of all that is good and holy, can we make bacon by smoking pork? Perhaps even a particular cut of meat that is fatty and only drops as a smaller percentage vs porkchops. Perhaps it's even really rare, just a novelty item for now. I want to open a shop in my town called Treyflixia's deluxe bacon bits! This would make my day. If not, that's okay too, I may have to just learn java to satiate my desire for bacon in an addon. Not sure where I'd get the time though :P

  12. Drying realy seems the best preservation method. it works better the warmer the weather is, so in cold region we have to store the food in cellar and in warm region we could dry it.

    Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

i chisseld a prototyp of a dry-stand. the third picture shows another idea - smoking with the tool-racks.

both methods should decrease decay rate by 50% like salting. Salting and smoking creat Beacon(new food, slowest decay rate)

One Idea from my Job - i'm Baker - Dough should decay from fresh to sour about a day.

Normal bread 1* less satisfiyng than sour-dough-bread and higher decay-rate.

additional: removing rice-bread, it's creatable, but really diffilcult to make bread from rice, better eat raw/cooked rice.

    $#!7 yeah, BAAAACOOOONNNNN!!!!

[rant]Bacon is not simply salted dried meat though, it is SMOKED meat (important difference taste wise) and the thing that makes Bacon so magical in it's various forms

(Belly bacon AKA "classic" bacon, Jowl bacon, Canadian bacon, cottage bacon {my favorite}, and many, many more. Some Italian versions are even dry cured for months to attain a specific taste.)

Is, depending on the cut, curing process, and spices you can create many forms of the master price that is bacon. It is not simple dryed salted meat, it is smoked, fatty streaked pork in it's simplest definition.

I would know all this, I'm a pig farmer. [/rant]

All this talk of jams and jellies is getting repetitive and a little annoying.

It's been discussed. The answer is no. Those are both very modern inventions.

If fruit is going to be a preservable item the ONLY logical way to do it is drying. My grandparents live in British Columbia and they make dried pears, apricots, apples and plums. Those things taste great. They'll make you thirsty but you can leave them on the counter for days with no worries.

Please, If you insist on bringing up the same exact idea over and over and over again, at least make sure it's a good idea.

    No. Jams.

I think you're forgetting the various forms of pickling and alcohol based preservation. But yes, jam likely has no place in TFC :(

  13. The idea is that the current spawning latitude is friendlier towards newer players. You're in the temperate zone (yes I know right now jungles are the ideal environment but once the temperature update comes that will change).

So perhaps world gen options in which you spawn at one of the poles, or in a desert... The poles would be nutso hard starting, as would a large enough desert. Especially once temp effects players. So why force it on the poor noobs? Make it a choice. Kind of like hardcore mode.

  14. I'm going to nip this at the bud and say this; if you want to discuss hand drawn vs generated maps, go to the thread Eternalundeath linked. However I will warm you, it was discussed to death and the general consensus was generated was better for game purposes.

Let's keep this to paper in general and not get into semantics discussing something that has (in my eyes) already been beaten to death, then resurrected, then brutally slaughtered and finally reborn. Leave the zombie angel horse alone, as SGRnoodles would say.

That said, this thread is pure gold!

Also.... Printing press guys? We already have stirrups. Why not have two of the holy trinity of inventions?

  15. This thread contains a high amount of win.

Really I'm for any aesthetically pleasing alternative to the firepit that burns fuel slower and more efficiently. I don't care what you call it, however I'd really prefer that it be able to burn wood. I love woodfires. That smell.... Mmmmmmmmm.

Also to play devils advocate, a rocket stove is TOTALLY feasible within the timescale of TFC. Sure it wasn't invented till later, but it really doesn't use any special tech. For crying out loud you can make one out of two cans, one with holes drilled in it! That's not exactly "high tech". Yea the name sounds futuristic, but the concept is no more complicated than a bloody blast furnace....

EDIT; after further research, it turns out this concept was used in the roman times. So yeah... Pretty hard to argue that.
