ATTENTION Forum Database Breach 03/04/2019
There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again. -
This forum is now READ ONLY! 01/20/2020
As of this post and forever into the future this forum has been put into READ ONLY MODE. There will be no new posts! A replacement is coming SoonTM . If you wish to stay up-to-date on whats going on or post your content. Please use the Discord or Sub-Reddit until the new forums are running.
Any questions or comments can be directed to Claycorp on either platform.

Currently, trees and grasses can't grow or die without the player, nor can animals. They just randomly spawn. It would be great if it had a more dynamic environment where the grasses and trees grew on their own, animals ate the leaves and grassses, restoring them hnger, and if the animals have enough food, they can reproduce, if they don't have enough, they could starve and die. I know that having only a small proportion of existing chunks loaded at any one time would make it less realistic since the environment will only change around the player, and that it would take a fair amount of time developing it, but it would be great.

Yeah... How do breeders make animals reproduce irl? Eh, maybe they'd just reproduce when they have enough energy to do so, so if you feed them enough, they'll reproduce.

Whenever I use the new launcher for tfc, the game crashes when I try to make a new world or enter a world, it stays at the "downloading terrain" screen for a while and flashes back to the title screen a few times, until it eventually crashes. Help would be appreciated. I didn't follow bioxx's instruction with the minecraft error test file since it doesn't work with the launcher. Here is the crash screen: ---- Minecraft Crash Report ---- // I blame Dinnerbone. is being up 5 hours a day really enough to defend a base? Who is actually going to play on the server for 5 hours, every day?

I tried planting some crops in a very cold area, almost at x:20,000, and most of the crops instantly popped out of the ground, instead of growing. I few of the crops didn't do that, but have yet to grow. I also planted both fruit and wood trees, none of which have grown yet. (although I haven't waited very long. So why aren't they growing? Is it too cold for them? it's been -13C out.
-
Oh, right, I meant z axis. In terms of temperature, will everything grow as long as it's above freezing? And why doesn't it say this on the wiki? Also, will it ever get above freezing in the tundra where I am?
-
Maybe when you die, you could go into a different, crappy, dimension. Getting back to the original dimension would be challenging, and time consuming. This afterlife dimension wouldn't have much of value to do in it, making being stuck in it highly undesirable

How to make glas in a fire pit? How does ore look like?
Kirhak replied to Kissaki's topic in Discussion
I'm pretty sure you need something hotter than a campfire to make glass. Ores can be found in the little rocks on the ground like you said. It's pretty much just guess work which little rocks contain ores. Keep in mind that rocks that contain ores are usually situated by other rocks that contain ores. To get actual veins of ore, you'll need to start mining underground with a pickaxe. Look here for a guide on how to find the veins of ore. -
Why not make fruit trees drop a small amount of wood when you cut them down? I mean, if you go and cut down an apple tree irl, you'll get lots of wood. So why is it that the wood in fruit trees magically disappear when it's cut down? Also, this would make it easier surviving in biomes where the only tree is fruit trees.
-
And I think this should be fixed by making fruit tree leaves drop sticks when they are broken. Also, they could just have one type of log for all fruit trees. Not the most realistic, but still better than having the wood magically disappear.
-
I tried the creeper thing, and it didn't work. Also, the wood would be useful if you are on an island in anocean biome without any saplings. The only trees that spawn on the islands are fruit trees.
-
So what about the whole farther you go from spawn, colder the land gets? Has that been implemented? How far do you have to go to get to tundra?
-
I have come across taiga biomes, but never any tundra. Do any exist? With 300+ biomes I'd imagine they would, but I'm not sure.

Irl, if you just sit around, you'll still get hungry and eventually die from hunger if you go long enough without eating, but not in Tfc. The knowledge that if I really wanted to survive in Terrafirmacraft, I could just go in a hole and not move, takes some of the fun away from the game for me. This seems like quite an easy fix as well.

I dislike how formal the wars will be (having to declare war and make it at a set time), but I suppose this server will still be worth looking into -

So... does that mean a map reset? -
Make hunger decrease even when your not doing activities
Kirhak replied to Kirhak's topic in Suggestions
You still could chat, and you wouldn't really be punished for it. You would just get slightly hungrier. And by this, I mean loosing maybe 1 hunger point every 20 minutes or something. Typing something to another player takes much less time than that. -
Have tundra would offer a unique survival challenge, same as the desert. It would also be nice if Tfc had driftwood, so you could still make fires and what-not in the tundra, just like how the Greenlandic did.

I have traveled about 20 kilometers at sea and haven't found a single wood-bearing tree. So I doubt you'll be able to get any wood, which would make getting pickaxes impossible. Edit: Actually, even though islands in the ocean biome don't produce any wood-bearing trees, you might be able to find an a non-ocean biome that is surrounded by ocean biomes. However, finding and island like this would likely take a very long time and finding a group of islands like this would probably take much, much longer.

Can one plant trees from saplings found elsewhere? Also, what's the climate like on Mooshroom island biomes?
-
That's strange. I've been doing that, yet it still doesn't work.
