      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    Since people want to get back ontopic I'll give some info I've learned throughout my basins course. Oceans are formed through the development of a mature rift (rift being the crustal thinning by normal faults) When the asthenosphere rises, it makes the crustal heat gradient bigger, with this the crust is easier to deform so if this process continues then the plate gets a big crack. And with the rise of the asthenosphere and the normal tensions the sides are pull apart, separating both sides and giving space to the rock from the asthenosphere to take its place, cool and be a part of the crust (the ocean is the youngest part of the crust). So this is basically how oceans are made. Really? Yup, the ocean is pretty much stitched up like a ragdoll So, when continents are far apart they become passive margins, they are really stable, no tectonism on them, dull... But, because they are moving from the ridge push, eventually they can hit another continental plate, like what happened to India, the Himalayas arose from that collision Btw, they were fast! insanely fast for a plate, like 5cm a year, fast! But if there is no continental crust on the plate that is moving? Well, every oceanic plate has a due date, about 150million years, that is when they get old, they cooldown, start getting some weight and then they crack open and go under itself. And form island arcs.

    So basically, your mistake was not reading any guide, thinking that various aspects from the game was not to your liking and asking for the developers to change it, or allow it to be changeable to your liking so you don't spend time trying to learn the mechanics of this mod. It surely takes a while to learn, but when you do it is far more rewarding. As it was stated before, when you allow it to be configurable by the user the bug tracking just becomes hellish, and it is pretty important to Bioxx keep track of bugs, I could quote him on other threads about this issue but you seem like you can do it by yourself, also look for better ore generation from Marcopolo, it is configurable but it is not a new content mod. IF you still think that it isn't to your liking you can mod it, just keep it to yourself. Killster, there is no way to make a new mod just changing a config file, that is the same as releasing the parent mod.

It CAN be mastered. In fact there are quite a few people who have already discovered how to use it to great effect. This is the nature of TerraFirmaCraft. Not everyone will be good at everything. This is by design. I don't WANT everyone to be masters at everything. Please accept this. Thank you." Prospecting is fine and will continue this way by design, what you are proposing is a change in the design of TFC by a config file, maybe this is not the mod for you. P.S. you already can change the number of days a year has ingame, look for that.

    It was announced today that 1.5 will come with an official modding api system. Jeb, Dinnerbone, Grum, and EvilSeph have been discussing the upcoming Mod API in detail! This is only a small look at the massive amount of information provided about the Mod API, so let's dive right in! API Questions: When will the Mod API be released?The API will be going live with the 1.5, which has a tenative release date of January, 2013. Will mods have the ability to modify text?Mods can have config files that, when initialized, will be able to dynamically print text in a variety of ways. Will mods like Optifine (which modify the engine directly) be supported?The API will eliminate the need to write to the engine directly, allowing modifications that affect the game (as any mod will), without altering the game code itself. Among other things, this will greatly simplify mod installation. Can vanilla block behavior be modified?Yes. Will there be official community resources (tutorials, forums, etc) for modders?Yes. How will mods be distributed by modders, and downloaded by players?Players will be able to download mods from the game client itself. Will the API be able to add new mobs to the game through mods?Yes. Additionally, it will be possible to modify animated blocks (water, lava) as well as custom animated blocks. Will the API be like Bukkit (an outside resource)?No, the API will be integrated into the vanilla game, hopefully bypassing the need for exernal APIs. Will client-only mods be supported by the API?Not at this time, but as the biggest client-only modifications are already covered (texture packs, splash screen text etc), it didn't seem necessary.
