      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Maga, or anyone - how did you manage to place chests on top of each other? I tried to make a tripwire hook for a trapped chest - and could not.

You don't need trapped chests to place chests on top of each other. This has been a vanilla feature for quite some time now, just make sure you have a transparent block above the top chest. Trapped chests are for placing chests next to each other without a block in between. You can't make those in TFC.

  2. What do you guys think about removing some of the teleport commands? AFAIK, we have /home, /t spawn, and /tpa right now. I think 3 commands to get around the world makes travelling around the TFC world trivial, and that's part of the fun and challenge in TFC especially on a server, making goods harder to transport. /tpa is probably the most overpowered. I propose that either some of these commands be removed or have a cost added to them (if that's possible).

  3. Are you at all able to collect snowballs and create snow blocks in the vanilla fashion?

I believe snow balls drop if you drop water on it.

  4. There are 4 different amounts of units a single ore piece can have. On the surface, you can find nuggets (10 units) and if you go mining underground, (or get lucky with some surface exposed ore) you can get poor, normal or rich ore at 15, 25, and 35 units each.

    1. Yes, 100 units is one tool head or ingot when casting.

    2. You can have as many units of metal in a vessel as the vessel can hold. This means the max is 4 stacks of rich ore, or 64 rich ore. 64 * 35 = 2240 units. You can get 22 ingots with some leftovers max from one vessel, granted you use all rich ore.

    EDIT: My bad...units, not ingots.

  5. That would be super interesting and convenient seen some leaked items for the next version of tfc that involves coins being a craftable item... Aswell as coloured beds but could be fan made. All I would need is the tradomat from IC and Ide be set

There is a trade booth's mod that someone on the TFC forums wrote. It's by aeroc.http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/wip-mods/1443329-1-6-4-smp-forge-916-trade-booth-mod-0-6-4-1

  6. But just because glass is made from pure copper doesn't also mean you can make red clothes from pure copper. If you just have an all-purpose red dye, that is literally the same thing as the current vanilla/TFC dye mechanic, with one item being a red dye. The only difference between what you're saying and what I think we're trying to avoid is that instead of grinding up hematite to make rose red dye, you make it from copper. Your suggestion is just the same thing with different items. We have to use different dye types for clothes or carpet and glass, because the colour in glass is from minerals or other compounds that are "part" of the glass, as opposed to, say, a leather jacket that was dyed red which is only red because there is a coating of some red compound on it. If you cut the jacket in half, it won't still be red on the inside.

  7. Say, for dyeing glass, we have 'dye powders'(personally think they should be called pigments, but whatever) ,made by grinding various minerals, right?.

Can't we just expand the number of these pigments and use them for all out dye-ing needs?

This is essentially (as I understand it) the same as the vanilla dye mechanism that Dunk was trying to avoid isn't it?

  8. It does? I've only ever seen it go up. My bad. But even then, I still think the smoke should despawn over time as well as by hitting the build limit, because it wouldn't be able to go through spaces such as opened doors because the doors occupy a block. It would kind of simulate the smoke dissipating through various cracks and openings to the outside world.

  9. Even if breaking the block was less "satisfactory" or "practical" than using your proposed right-click function, (which it isn't) why go to the trouble of making a whole new feature that saves some TFC player literally not more than a few seconds at most and usually not even one second. Like Maga said, this is just unnecessary.

I personally can distinguish most blocks anyway, and even if I forgot, it's not a big deal if I break one of the many blocks in the game. Most of the times, it's beneficial to break it, albeit slightly (more/new rocks, more saplings, more materials in general).

  10. Another alternative (or additional method of despawning) to having smoke despawn only at the build limit would be to have it despawn after a certain amount of time. This way, smoke in an area like a forge chimney would despawn as well, because if it only flew straight up, it wouldn't be able to get to the outside environment through the bend in the chimney. Additionally, you wouldn't have smoke sitting up on your roof forever.
