      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. I was thinking about this for quite a while, ever since chisels were upgraded. My idea is to make a blueprint meant to accept certain chiseled SGP to join them together in a panel and SGP made using coloring or whatever is meant to stain those glass (white makes it really white. foggy white or snow white; take your pick. does not allow transparency though). Anyone else interested or remotely curious about this design? EDIT: I forgot to do a quick check. Someone kill me! It's already posted as a suggestion.
  2. Build 67 Bug Report

How you wish you and your neighbours look the same as well. What's the difference? All of it. Still needs to be fixed, just a touchup on the coding eventually. EDIT: Not trying to sound rude. Just a way to explain things.
  3. Crossbows

Did you ask him what he was gonna do with a crossbow? (Best way to start a conversation which piqued your interest.) On-topic: With the upgrade to bows, how much hits do you guys need to knock down a zombie? Also, how much hits do you guys think a crossbow should require to knock down a zombie?
  4. Build 67 Bug Report

For me, I just deleted my minecraft folder. Then uninstalled from control panel and then re-install together with what was needed. Playing on MC 1.4.5 with Forge 6.4.0.388. Not sure what's wrong. Most likely Bioxx made some coding error when coding (can't blame him since 99% of the work is being done by him... I think).
  5. Running with Javelins

Which means javs are gonna be quite useless compared to making knifes to fight with.
  6. Running with Javelins

Simple solution is to nerf it's damage down to half, then with running speed add-on it bumps it back to it's original damage. This means idiots need to learn when to take the javs out for a spin or else they are gonna make themselves die easier (running into a mob? sorry son, you gotta retry again).
  7. Crossbows

Seeing as there are tons of annoying stuffs here, I would like to point this out to the other people intending to derail this topic again: GTFO of this topic and post your own topic regarding the topic of discussion of what you intended to post to derail the topic in the first place. Now that is done.... Back to the main meat of the topic. killster, you said that metal crossbows were around just before guns right? This is still within the 1000AD ~ 1400AD era? Cause as far as I remembered, I read a topic where some guy said Bioxx didn't want anything to do outside this year limit.
  8. Crossbows

I would say that it isn't really a great idea to add into a mod where Bioxx doesn't want it to be easy. Crossbows have their own time to reload so it's alright, but bumping it to repeating crossbow.... I say it's best not to talk about it ever again. The design is good but the fact that it would make most crossbows obsolete... Also that is more to a siege gun rather than a handheld one. Even if made handheld, it would be more like a shotgun-cross-crossbow where you do the pumping animation to reload the gun. Still something that makes the game easier than it is now once you get to the metal stage. Metal components might be good but I'd rather have a wooden one (except for trigger). In terms of production-wise, one crossbow should not consume less resources to develop than a bow. Bolts can be made metal-only since there should be some sense of trade-off between power and resource consumption.
  9. Crossbows

No. Crossbows are not dual wield. Only people who want a crossbow pistol would make such a thing and it should not even be accepted into TFC.
  10. Crossbows

Only reason why Javs are considered short range to me is because one needs to have muscle strength to throw it, apart from angle toss. If you want a better range, you need to toss it at an angle. Javelin tosses in Olympics are the same way. It doesn't work like TFC where you just "shoot" it straight, then it bounce around once or twice. As far as Javelins go, it's still considered close range to me. Not close as in 10 blocks close, but somewhere around 35 blocks. Crossbows should be 50 and arrows should be 70. This taking into account best angle and drop curve but not taking into account arm strength (or else what, you want everyone to be bulky? Steve isn't bulky, he's square and rectangles). EDIT: I read wrong. Would be good idea. That way people can opt for expensive and powerful vs cheap and rapid fire-able. No. Both crossbows and bows are of different flight paths but are both considered accurate. In fact, crossbow bolts do not fly further than any arrows fired by bows. In the other side, crossbows hit dam near accurate compared to bows since one needs to take into account drop curve, air resistance and travel time to ensure it hits. Both have their own flaws and weaknesses but it should be highlighted first before you decide to just add random weaknesses in. Makes it more... believable, mind you. EDIT: A good link: http://www.ehow.com/info_8259926_difference-between-bows-crossbows.html This is based on modern bows and crossbows so the design between modern and ancient may differ in capability.
  11. Crossbows

You killed me there. I forgot about my Laws and Rules when coming onto these things. Hopefully, Bioxx takes an interest into upgrading bows so it would be better than it is right now, a crappy knock-off of a javelin. Actually, Javelins should not have that kind of flight curve. It flies too far and straight for something that size is thrown (you've seen the stick's length, you should know what I mean). Bows should fire arrows with the furthest possible distance but is heavily reliant on aiming the right angle to get it to hit the distance and damage on falling arrows and arrows in flight vary based on travel distance, Crossbows (if and when implemented) should have a moderately far distance but drops off straight down with moderately small damage drop over the whole distance and Javelins should have this strong close to mid range distance where it does even damage all-round. Which reminds me, apart from Bows (update) and Crossbows (new addition), Javelins should also get updated to right? Javelin heads and all that.
  12. Crossbows

Are you saying Bioxx isn't looking at ranged combat at the current moment? Bows should not be affected by wood types, since it only affect durability. It's the arrows that will affect damage. So, different arrowheads will create stronger damage values but as far as I feel it should go up to, it is steel arrowheads (dealing about 2x more damage than javelins). Any more than that would not affect damage by much and what is amazing about bows compared to crossbows is the firing speed and firing time.
  13. [B66] Quern - Item Duplication Bug

My idea is that shift-clicking moves all items inside it (like how it normally does). In Quern's case, it actually rejects some items but was not coded well (like in the case of Anvil) therefore it accepted the same number and spit it back out at the same time. The speed of this process is too fast for the system to identify it thus it just says X stuff + X stuff everytime you shift-click. This results in 2X stuffs and it further goes up the value. If you noticed the item numbers well, it only gives double the value and this idea becomes plausible (not certain, just plausible). Just my conjecture.
  14. Crossbows

Metallic has it's appeal but it comes with a big problem. Durability. I feel that putting metal into a crossbow design would make it have an extreme amount of durability (over 9000... get the joke?). Wood is there to substantiate the durability aspect so that one isn't able to carry that same crossbow almost permanently. Nobody would opt for a Bow after that anyway (Bows are actually quite good, both early and late but needs expanding on eventually).
  15. Crossbows

Is it alright to necro this thread? I mean, I want to support this idea and the devs never said it is not accepted. Necro-ed. The plan should be a piece by piece part. Crossbow Base: [..][..][..][..][..] [..][..][..][..][..] [X][X][X][X][X] [X][X][..][..][..] [..][..][..][..][..] Bow Frame: [X][X][..][..][..] [..][..][X][..][..] [..][..][..][X][..] [..][..][..][..][X] [..][..][..][..][X] Trigger: [X][X][X][X][..] [X][X][X][X][..] [..][X][X][..][..] [..][X][..][..][..] [..][..][X][..][..] Construction Method: Combine 1 Planks, Saw and Crossbow Base Plan in the crafting table to make Crossbow Base. Combine 1 Plank, Saw and Bow Frame Plane in the crafting table to create Bow Frame. Combine Bow Frame and 3 Strings lined up vertically in the crafting table to make a Stringed Bow Frame. Take an ingot (minimum level, Iron) and create your Trigger. Combine the Crossbow Base, Stringed Bow Frame and Trigger to make Crossbow (Base in the center, Frame at the right of it and Trigger below the Base). Bolt Creation: Make a bolt by lining up feather, stick and stick in a / way in the crafting table. This is the simplest bolt creation, stacks up to 64 and the weakest (only 25 health damage). Creating more powerful bolts requires making metal rods. Metal Rod Plan: [..][..][..][..][X] [..][..][..][X][..] [..][..][X][..][..] [..][X][..][..][..] [X][..][..][..][..] Each piece of ingot gives 10 metal rods. Replace the sticks with metal rods to make crossbow bolts of the metal type. Damage will vary, with the best metal type giving a total of 1000 damage. Firing any bolts does not yield a return of bolts if it hits the ground (unlike Vanilla MC, never tried firing bows here in TFC). Crossbows do not have a bolt already in place when switching to it and requires reloading to be done first, switching out then back to it removes the bolt back into the inventory (this will prevent pre-loading bolts for rapid fire via eq switch, balancing method). Crossbows have variable durability based on material used for stock and bow frame. Degraded crossbows (0 durability, will not disappear but will not be able to fire anymore) can be put into the crafting table to remove the trigger. The trigger has it's own independent durability and accumulates all durability damage done across all crossbows it is put into. If a trigger completely wears out (0 durability), the whole crossbow disappears regardless of crossbow's own durability (don't reuse too much). (BTW, damage numbers not in line with mob health since I do not know the numbers exactly.)
