      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Idea for a cool adition to smithing + "Quality Control"

What if each block of ore had a x% chance to drop an extra unit of ore? And maybe higher quality tools allow this percentage to increase. Stone tools would be say 0-2%, then 2-4, etc. Something small enough to make it plausible without over balancing.
  2. SMP .jar setup

Have you tried running the server with admin privs.?
  3. Post your TFcraft Pictures

Nice campsite (and mountain!). I think it's nicer than mine - I literally just keep extending my house as I need room for things and THAT gets kinda messy heheh. That pic is making me want to start over again and find a nicer starting spot like that one.
  4. SMP .jar setup

I feel like there's something that needs to be done where I read in the log that you need to make a mods folder. It doesn't seem to like the mods folder in your windowssystem32 folder which, iirc, windows7 throws some admin privs required or something back when you want to edit the contents of system folders. Not sure though since I don't host a server, I could be way off. This may not actually be causing a problem though. I honestly don't know.
  5. Decorative Fun

Maybe if we just added in "grates". Like a trapdoor block for a window or like the iron bars as well for windows. For potted plants I usually just made a dirt block w/ signs around it and toss a sapling on top. But I do think it'd be neat to have potted plants as decorations. I'm guessing they would be small blocks with a sprite/billboard plant texture on top (sprite as in like the saplings, mushrooms, sugarcane, etc.)
  6. Hemp

^^ What he said, heh. I definitely want to see more use for things like rope as well as a textile system and having to extract fibers to spin threads, then weave them into cloth (if you're not making rope out of it). Though I don't think we need a bunch of complex systems for this. Maybe just a crafting table specific to fibers, thread/strings, rope, an fabric?
  7. Hemp

If you're trying to point out faults, then you missed the part where he has "(animals)" and was pretty much just a coppying off of a list of sources.
  8. Melting Anvils

In that case, I'd just melt em down into a block and put it in the wall of my workshop area.
  9. Stairs, slabs etc.

I'm a bit on the fence with this but I kinda like the idea of needing a sawmill and nails for building things like stairs. Interesting at least but I'm not sure how it'd affect gameplay. It'd make the people that want the nice houses and the castle builders spend more time getting their lead or iron (or other metals ) for nails and sawblades for the sawmill (which wear down after a few dozen uses heh).
  10. Scythes

Isn't the little one-handed scythe (or sickle) type tool called a kama (or kai)? I think the sai is the little one-handed trident/dagger-like weapon (and was actually supposed to be blunt, not sharpened to a point). It's been a long time since I've handled either but I have trained in both when I was younger, and yes, the kama is definitely effective (especially a kusarigama - try adding a chain whip to your sickle)
  11. Metal Alloys and Cooling Metal

If I remember correctly, blacksmiths working on swords would dip it into water to cool it. I'm not sure however when in the process this was done (as the final step? or every few folds of metal hammered in?) It's too late for me to be looking things up (half asleep) but if someone else has the initiative, go for it. I'm curious.
  12. That's nice. If anyone needs something tested on a lower end PC, let me know ;D heheh.
  13. New inventory

Don't forget, everything is subject to change so when the devs get to it, you might not be getting as many gems down the road compared to what you're getting now.
  14. Yea my old-ass laptop doesn't seem to have a problem with the dynamic lights at all.
  15. Torches should burn out

Yeah I kinda think I like that method for relighting torches with a flint & metal combo. And I'm guessing the burnt out torches are just darker textures as well (like redstone torches when they're off)? That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Or maybe use the firestarter?
  16. Can't make armor plans?

I just remembered someone mentioning that you need to put the paper in before any ink marks? Or maybe it was something else, I can't remember.
  17. So I looked inside the texture archive...

He must have a lot planned. Especially with the next major update being agriculture. Those coins are new to me though, I didn't see them last time I browsed the texture files.
  18. Post your TFcraft Pictures

I just started a new world today but I might have something built up soon. I usually do what you do Zedek. I was always building my home into the side of mountains and had balconies and windows overlooking the land. With TFC I've decided to try actually building my home.
  19. Monotone Food

It's not about HDD space, it's about excessive HDD read/write calls which are very slow when compared to just doing it all in memory (RAM). Basicly it would be best to just add it all in as code so we don't have MC dynamically accessing a text file to reference the foods and nutrients you've consumed.
  20. I've never had any issues with ATi. NVidia used to give me tons of problems back in the day and then I switched over. I had gotten a GeForce 3 series and 3 of them all burnt out (everything at stock settings).
  21. You had a squirrel chewing on the powerline LOL It happens all the time around here at least heheh.
  22. 3D Campfire and Metal shields

I like the 2nd campfire model a lot. That's an wesome shield too heheheh.
  23. Salt Water

Honestly I'm hoping that it gets brought up actually. I wouldnt' complain about redstone systems being removed and revamped to be steam powered systems. I'm a bit of a steampunk fan as well (and have been playing the thief games again lately) but I think electricity could be a safe technology if it's done right.
  24. Monotone Food

That method is acutally slower (not sure on the details) but it's because the computer has to parse a file and then with what you're saying, it would read and write it constantly (which is slower as well). It is actually much more efficient if that text file were used as a part of the world save instead. Computers work a lot faster with data loaded into RAM and the calculations done there. Read/write processes are slower because the harddrive/disk is a physical machine that has to move the disks into position to read and write data before it can actually read and write. When the data is loaded into RAM, it's all electronic and there's no physical movement (flash drives are essentially the exception to this).
  25. Blacksmith Apron

I have an idea. What if tongs were optional and they gave you a bonus that "helped" by making it easier or faster to smith? I don't see wood tongs with stone pads working. You'd have to do some serious stone shaping to get something that would allow you to securely grip a piece of hot metal. I could be wrong though.
