      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. I'm back! Did I miss anything?

Hello there, lovely Off-topic Crusaders! I know most of you will probably not remember me (I used to hang out in some of those codebreaker and indie-game threads, if you remember ), so I thought it might be nice to make my first post back into a bit of an introduction. My first year of college is about to come to a close and I've got an itch to rejoin the TFC community. With a tad more free time in the summer, I'm looking to start playing again too. Importantly, I've also made the decision to switch my major from physics to computer science and, since it has been almost a year since I've done any real, heavy coding, I think I might delve into learning the minecraft code base as a good refresher exercise. Not too much else going on in my life, but just thought I'd share that much with you all. So, as the post implies, I really haven't been watching TFC too closely since about November. I've read all of the front-page business and the new stickied "Beta 3" post, but otherwise I don't know too much. I also heard about the indefinate postponement of TFC2, but this did not come as too much of a surprise to me. Did I miss much else? Also, as a sidenote, I'm looking to join a TFC server soon, if such a thing still exists. Anyone know of good ones with fun people and reasaonable uptimes? (I'm aware of the specific sub-forum) Thank you all for reading, see you back on the forums! -GenuineTexan
  2. Oh yeah...sluices!

How have I never thought of this??? Wonderful idea, and seemingly makes a good use for the sluice. Since I'm so picky about my housing location, I would often travel pretty far in the early game giving me a lot of time to collect ore chunks while walking, and as such, I never really used the sluice. Sluices work with all types of ore, correct?
  3. Differences between TFC and MC - HELP

Don't forget: Different blocks affected by gravityHealth and thirst systemDifferent armor system (though this is likely to change)Items involving vanilla iron aren't available, unless explicitly changed to allow themSounds like a helpful idea for a wiki page, but be careful about being too divulgent. Wouldn't want to make it too easy for the newbies
  4. The worst luck!

Yeah, the anvils seem to be pretty fragile (you know, since a huge hunk of iron is fragile, right?). I had my iron anvil blown up on two separate occasions by creepers. Needless to say, I moved it inside after the second attack.
  5. Post your TFcraft Pictures

So much butthurt in this thread now. Like Treyflix said, please don't derail this topic. Move over to Off Topic forum and have a nice discussion there if you choose to continue this. Edit: I tried uploading a picture of a house i'm working on, but i can't link to png files? Do i have to save it as jpg for it to be allowed (too lazy to try right now)?
  6. Charcoal Writing, Ink Drawing/Planning, and Painting

Kudos on a topic that actually got Dunk's attention before all the trolls got here. I would love to see some more development in the drawing/planning region too.
  7. Looking for MMORPG suggestions

Well, thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'm going to start playing World of Tanks again and I might start a new Morrowind save on the side. If I do end up finding a good MMORPG I'll let you all know!
  8. Looking for MMORPG suggestions

Hey all, I've been reminiscing about the times I played Runescape back in school with my friends (like 10 years ago) and it made me miss that style of game. So I ask you: do you know of any games that are along these lines? -Online, multiplayer -RPG-style elements -Subscription not required, though i'm not against games that have optional subscriptions -Browser-based -Relatively active community -Preferably very modest graphics with third-person view, I'm looking for a game that won't be too strenuous to concentrate on -Runescape-esque (if such a thing exists...) Thanks for any suggestions, guys! If my guidelines are too perfectionist then feel free to throw alternate ideas out there, I'm just looking for some sort of multiplayer experience.
  9. Looking for MMORPG suggestions

I did some looking around and found a game called Drakensang Online. It seems pretty close to what I'm looking for and most importantly it doesn't have ridiculous anime-based graphics. Anyone ever played this game or know someone who plays it? Very interested to know more about it... Here's some gameplay footage:
  10. Looking for MMORPG suggestions

Well, I'm not opposed to playing Runescape 2 (is that what its called?) since there were only like 30 people on each Runescape Classic server (the game I grew up with). Just not sure how active/balanced the "new" Runescape is. I tried playing realm of the mad god for about 20 minutes, but it seemed almost too simplistic. I have Planetside 2 which is really fun, but you need a good squad of people to have fun and its not quite RPG-ish enough for what I'm currently looking for. Great suggestions so far, though I'm still going to see if anyone else wanders in here with another suggestion before I try out Runescape again.
  11. Some recipes question

Sorry, found it for real this time: minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Version_history/Development_versions
  12. Some recipes question

    Try this: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Version_history
  13. Some recipes question

Use the website minecraftwiki.com for all the vanilla recipes. It also has a nifty vanilla change-log so you can keep track of all the silly things Mojang adds to Minecraft.
  14. Nether fix for build 75

    Edit: deleted
  15. Mining explosives and powder bombs?

Um... yeah, this has been talked about a lot. I think Dunk has even stopped by to talk about the possibility of gunpowder as a TNT block substitute in the future on a couple of occasions. They have these three minerals in the game for a reason...
  16. [Solved] Simple instructions?

Sure thing. I will copy-paste a response I've used here before. As a note: some people like to use a program called Multi-MC to install TFC, but I don't understand it and find it more pain than its worth, this is guide for just installing normally. Here is the link to the official download instructions that I will expand on http://terrafirmacraft.com/download/ You have to follow the directions very carefully to get TFC to work, the mods it relies on are very picky. I'll list the steps here for you since I don't mind re-writing them: 1) Delete the whole .minecraft folder in %appdata% and restart minecraft to download all new game files. 2) Open the new minecraft.jar with 7-zip or winrar and delete the META-INF file. 3) Next download Forge Universal 6.4.0.359 and open it with 7-zip or winrar and drag/drop all of its files into the open minecraft.jar from step 2.. 4) Close minecraft.jar and start up Minecraft and let it load until the menu screen, then exit. 5) Download Player API Universal 1.2 and install it in the same manner as you installed Forge. 6) Close the minecraft.jar file and load up minecraft to the menu screen again, then exit. 7) Finally place the TFC zip folder (no need to unzip it, just place the whole file) into the %appdata%/roaming/.minecraft/mods folder. If you follow these directions, TFC will work. Good Luck!
  17. Quick question about Optifine [SOLVED]

Does optifine D3 not have all the fancy options that the later versions have? I remember using optifine a long time ago in vanilla and it had a bunch of options in the video settings menu, but with just testing out D3+vanilla now there's only the regular settings in there. Thanks! Solved: Figured it out...
  18. The Hades Code

I think you messed up; the middle one should either be 888=6 or 8888=8, not 8888=6. Also, solved it! Solution to last one: 1029384756=6
  19. GLSL Shader with Seus Now Working!!

I'm not sure it works any longer, unfortunately. Some people were talking the other day about how it isn't compatible with TFC now. It will work for for about 10 seconds, if that, and then crash. Edit: NInja'd
  20. suggestion for geothermal vents

Bioxx hinted that the mineral pools may eventually be involved with his extra-dimension ideas, so I have a feeling he already has a pretty specific idea of what he wants and that he and Dunk are going to be pretty picky about it. As for adding the "mineral blocks", they seem to have a pretty singular purpose and seem to serve only as a means to reach the end goal of the geothermal vents. This is sort of against the TFC outlook where nothing is done just-for-the-heck-of-it, but things often serve multiple purposes. I think that if you could find a way to reuse blocks already in the game, but in a new way, that would be much better. Interesting topic, I'm really interested to see what direction the devs take this and how others respond!
  21. are Performance updates in the future?

Thanks varradami, I think I remember my fiend stating he used some online tutorials section to get started at first. I usually use JCreator LE for my IDE because its lightweight and I like the windows. I've used Eclipse before and didn't like some things on it, but I'm willing to try it again. I can't remember, though, does Eclipse have auto-complete on the free version (if in fact there are different versions...)?
  22. [Build 72] Constant game freezes SOLVED

You said you were using the latest version of Forge. Did you mean the latest version (Forge 6.4.2.445) or the one that is reccomended for Build 72 (Forge 6.4.0.395)? Sometimes using a more recent version than the one listed on the TFC download page can cause crashes/problems.
  23. are Performance updates in the future?

I learned java all the way through advanced data-structures in high school (equivalent of AP Comp. Sci. II) and was pretty good at it, but haven't coded anything in about 3-4 months. Does anyone know a good place to learn the API and class structures of Minecraft? I've always been interested in coding MC stuff and I had a friend in highschool who helped code all the plugins for our custom server, but he went to college in a different state so I haven't been able to talk to him too much. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated!
  24. Graphical things that TFC could use.

I understand Dunk, sorry for kind of snapping at you. I didn't mean to come off as rude, but I see where you're coming from now. The dev team has built this mod up from the ground and we all appreciate your hard work (or else we wouldn't be posting here!). Thanks for the mod so far and we all look forward to what you've got coming next, even if we do occasionally ask for ridiculous stuff !
  25. Welding ingots

What type of anvil are you using? Bronze has to be worked on a copper-or-better anvil. Stone will NOT work.
