      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Thanks for the encouragement, Jace. I'm glad that you're enjoying the series.
  2. In episode 15 I finally get a start on a proper roof for my home base. Also, it's show-and-tell time for new ores and minerals discovered in the mines beneath my home.
  3. Despite YouTube's best efforts, episode 14 is now available. Watch as I complete my menagerie by corralling a collection of cantankerous cows! Share my joy in finding gold! Listen to me whine about YT's new comment system!
  4. For my 100 subscriber special I've put together a TFC challenge video. The goal is to get a loaf of bread in the shortest time. Can you beat my time?
  5. In real life I rarely drink alcohol, so it's only fitting that I have trouble holding my liquor in TFC. In episode 13 I build a brewhouse, take a bit of vengeance on those pesky mobs and ponder roof designs:
  6. In episode 12 I finally get myself some decent armour: a shiny green set of bismuth bronze. Now let's see how tough those mobs are!
  7. Episode 11 is the conclusion of Chicken Quest: did I find the foul fowl or did I chicken out? Also: blueprints, our first bronze tool, and animals behaving badly:
  8. In episode 10 I almost make it into the Bronze Age but decide to go on a chicken quest instead:
  9. Episode 9 has now escaped from my computer and into the wilds of YouTube. We must catch it before it begins corrupting our children!
  10. Where Are The Chickens?

If you've been driving yourself crazy trying to find chickens in the recent releases of B77, you can relax because there are none to be found. It's a bug which is being worked on and will likely be fixed soon. Since animal spawns only occur when a chunk is first generated, you might want to hold off on exploring new chunks of your world until the fix has arrived, so as to maximize your chances of finding the fabulous fowl afterward.
  11. brilliant ideas of a madman

I never understand why people who get something for free, something that they never lifted so much as a finger to contribute to, feel entitled to denigrate those who do.
  12. While it can be fun for a group of players to ferret out an elusive graphite or garnierite deposit on a server, for a single player it quickly becomes an exercise in tedium and boredom. In recognition of this, it would be useful if the rarest ores and minerals were a bit less rare in single player mode.
  13. Where Are The Chickens?

I just noticed that I never mentioned that it was Dunk who fixed the problem. My role was limited to whining about it to Dunk. :-)
  14. Where Are The Chickens?

Yes, any chunks which have already generated will, alas, remain chickenless.
  15. Where Are The Chickens?

0.77.8 is available for download. It contains the chicken fix. I've tested it and at last have feathers! The march of civilization has resumed.
  16. Are Black Steels & above worth it?

If you're taking an extended trip away from your home base, the extra durability of the higher-tier metals may free up valuable inventory space by removing the need to take backup tools.
  17. Build 77

You no longer need to use an anvil to work a mold of metal into an ingot. Just place the mold in your crafting space and it will give you back an ingot, even if the metal in the mold was still liquid! The price you pay is that the ingot will be cold so you will have to reheat it if you want to work with it in the anvil.
  18. Build 77 Starting Shelters

I like using clay blocks because then I can get the clay back later on when I'm able to build a better structure.
  19. TerraFirmaCraft lagging ?

But having said that, I'm running 64-bit everything on Linux and I get the same lags as you. I think it's Java doing massive garbage collection but haven't been able to verify that yet.
  20. TerraFirmaCraft lagging ?

32-bit Java will run on a 64-bit machine, so make sure that you've got 64-bit Java installed.
  21. Wiki is non-functional

The logo box resizes itself as you make the browser window wider or narrower. At least that's how its working for me (Firefox on Linux). It would be nicer if the logo image scaled to fit the available space.
  22. Flooded with Saplings

Ah. Too bad. Would have made sense to only allow saplings of a certain type to pop up if there are adult trees of the same type nearby.
  23. The state of the game?

Alas, I can't swim. If/when the island sinks, I'm doomed. Hurricane Ridge was one of the more awesome experiences of my life. Fancy a walk?
