      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. New Foxtopia server town: Westhaven

This is a placeholder topic until I get un-lazy and decide to write up something official. Until then, here's some information: Westhaven was founded about 5 years ago in the server (about 4 days ago irl) and is currently still being built. If anyone would like to help with the construction/help gather materials and be productive, I would be more than happy to accept you into the town and give you a plot of land. Where said plot of land is going to be is up for debate, as I haven't really laid out the road plan inside the town. There is some available space inside the walls, but if that's filled up with buildings, then you would be given land outside of town. If you connect while I'm online, ask for a teleport (the server has a /tpa plugin). Otherwise, head South Southwest until you find a large lake (otherwise known as Spawn Lake). Then head west along the banks until you get to a small cabin on an island. Swim to the island and cross the lumber bridge to the mainland. Go past the two cabins and head straight west and you'll find a large fortified location with large round towers. This is Westhaven. For now, this is really the only way to get to it and I apologize for the wilderness travel. I plan to make a road to the shore of the lake so it's easier to get there. Please note that the server is sometimes a little unstable, but it evens out after a while. (This is personal experience, I have no idea what other people get when it goes through these rough patches.) [Pictures here when I get a photobucket account or something] Server IP: terrafirmacraft.foxtopia.me:25577 Server rules are available by simply typing "rules" in the chatbox. We have an IRC too. If any of us are offline, you can see if we're on there. Simply open the IRC window and type in /join #foxtopia and it will connect you to the official Foxtopia IRC. Server topic is here:http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/4756-07918673-foxtopia-terrafirmacraft-server-no-whitelist-new-world/
  2. [0.2.4] TFC2 Prerelease

It only happened once, strangely. I've started several other worlds and it works just fine. As for RAM, I don't have a lot of it, and it's usually taken up by minecraft and other misc. thingsanyways.
  3. [0.2.4] TFC2 Prerelease

    Crashed, have a report log:
  4. Nomadisim vs Settlement

I actually find myself enjoying setting up permanent settlements with farming and such, then creating little road networks to the various mines that I need to advance in tiers. Maybe it's just the city-builder in me, but it's one of the more enjoyable features that this mod has (slow-growing agricultural things, animals crops etc, slow to build metal structures, that kind of thing.) Seems very group-oriented for townbuilding, but hermiting is also a viable playstyle.
  5. The FoxTopiaTerrafirmacraft server has updated, and we're running 79.24! Why join this server you ask? Here's why: -Old world, with already founded settlements to join and plenty of old areas to explore! -Easy to follow rules. -No whitelist. -Friendly community with loyal staff. -40 slots and (mostly) lag free. -IRC (internet relay chat) allowing players to communicate through different servers (join the IRC PopUp and use the command /join #foxtopia.) Unique Features This server has a special feature allowing gemstones to be exchanged for copper nuggets or animal spawn eggs. More information about this system can be found in game. In addition, FoxTopia TFC also has the Forge Essentials plugin. This server mod allow the commands /home and /warp spawn. We also have Bibliowoods for TerraFirmaCraft. You can find the download for that here:http://www.bibliocraftmod.com/ Interested in joining? 6. Was working on this town/port for a couple days, decided to share here: WARNING: The following buildings are heavily reliant on pine, if you do not like this wood or just simply don't like two-colour buildings then this picture gallery probably isn't for you. Viewer discretion is advised. The ship (apologies for shoddy construction, I'm just kind of terrible at ships): The Docks (not pictured here is a crane, you'll see one later): The Warehouse: Harbour Master's Office (the first building I made): Office Building inside: The Marketplace: The Silver Dragon Inn: The Lake (and path to the mine): The Mine Crane: The Mine itself, built into a ravine (it's purely aesthetic, no function intended): Bridge to the smithy/smeltery area: Smithy's area: Closeup of the forge: And that's it. Tell me what you think, criticism is welcome!
  7. Port Aleswell (WIP) (PICTURE HEAVY)

Thanks! And yeah, I do intend to do a little work on the inn, as I do agree it is a bit plain atm. I also plan to add a cellar eventually. Nah, it was just dark and snowy when I took the pictures, it's mid-december on that world. The latitude is x: -13000 though, so it is rather cold most of the time.
  8. Camels and Camelids

Fun fact: alpacas are not a naturally occurring species of camelid. They are a cross between a llama and a vicuña. Anyways, llamas would be neat animals to see in warmer, more tropical areas. Camels could spawn on the borders/interiors of deserts. If we had a pack-animal mechanic, it could offer some alternatives to donkeys and horses.
  9. Compatibility list

TaeoG is working on a Thaumcraft mod that is compatible with TFC1 here:http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/8487-wip-thaumcraft-crossover-terrathaumcraft/. It's not done, but it's going to be in a beta-testable stage in the future when he gets some time to work on it.
  10. Thanks for replying Acnan, I'll try and monitor activity a little more often.
  11. Larger Forges

The thing about it is, that larger forges actually eat more fuel up and don't heat the metal as well. That's why most actual forges you see are the way they are, so that the center of heat is concentrated so you can get a high, constant heat. The forges you see in games like Skyrim are purely artistic in nature, and in real life would consume about 4-5 times more coal/charcoal and probably only heat half as well, since the heat is spread out over such a large area.
  12. Cool biome with sheep, seed 79.25

If you travel for a few thousand blocks in each direction you'll most likely find saltwater.
  13. Lemonade beverage

We already have about a dozen types of drinks in this game. Granted, technically all of them are alcoholic, but if you want a non-alcoholic drink besides water, I tend to consider cider as not being alcoholic (or at least not alcoholic enough to be considered "hard" alcohol.)
  14. I look forward to testing ThaumCraft in TFC. Good luck with your move!
  15. As TFC2 is being rewritten for 1.8, many other mods are also undergoing the same thing, including Thaumcraft. Thaumcraft 5 is actually out as an early build right now. So, I would imagine that it would probably be easier to do the same thing here for TFC2 and TC5.
  16. List of Mods that go well with TFCraft

    Necro, much?
  17. Ah, okay, thanks for clearing that up, I didn't really read every single thing in this topic when I replied. The system you talk about looks like it should work fine. I look forward to mining in volcanic areas for my fire shards and underwater for water shards. Any idea on where ordo shards and aer shards will spawn?
  18. I feel like shards in the vanilla version of Thaumcraft are pretty easy to find. Maybe you could just limit the generation of them so that they do generate in fairly large clusters, but will only do so in certain areas (much like TFC ore spawns right now.) If this were the case, then we need clues as to where they are on the surface. Special flowers? New shard nuggets? All of these would make sense (to me, anyways.) Perhaps greatwood/silverwood trees would spawn more commonly on top of these clusters?
  19. Vanilla vs TFC battle

Need I remind you that this still happens in TFC? Also, we have bigger veins in TFC, which does result in more ingots than your typical vanilla MC ore harvest.
  20. Ah, okay, my mistake. Still though, I could travel to the nether and back on our world, so I assumed it was relatively fixed (not to the point of smooth playability, though.)
  21. Actually, they just fixed the nether (and possibly the end) in a recent patch I believe. EDIT: I was wrong, my mistake.
  22. Why TFC Multiplayer is highly problematic.

Hehe, my signature. Also, I would like to point out: in my experience on the server that I play on, the amount of metals still undiscovered around spawn were generally not harvested until very recently, and this world has been around for around 70 in-game years. I think the reason behind this is that most people wanted to settle further away from spawn to get at the different stone types and metals (and also just variation in landscape.) Also settling away from spawn before we got mytown was protection against newbie/troll grief. About players destroying your stuff, that is, unfortunately, a fact of life. Certain people are just dicks because they like to be dicks, no matter how grand or fancy your statue or house is. I myself have experienced this, mostly in the form of my blacksmith building being robbed countless times. Solution? Keep stuff in stashes out in the wilderness. Otherwise, install factions or mytown onto your server/ask the server owner to consider a land protection mod. I will say in final: TFC is an acquired taste. You need to know your stuff or have someone teach you ingame, otherwise you'll be lost and alone and generally have no idea what's going on. Applying real-life logic tends to help too, in my opinion. Just my 2c. Anyone can feel free to gripe or agree as much as they like, and I will respond in kind.
  23. Vanilla vs TFC battle

Smashing diamond against steel will not cut it, the diamond will only shatter. I feel like the vanilla MC method of crafting armor and tools is much more crude than TFC. We take the time to heat the metal and work it into sheets and make sure it's good quality, while vanilla just mushes the ingots together via press or something and just feels weak.
  24. Woven Clothes

I believe this is planned for TFC2, you should discuss more about it in the corresponding section of the forums (TFC2 Discussion/Suggestions)
  25. Weenies

Why does this topic exist? Is it to discuss these "weenies" you speak of? Is it a place where fellow weenies can gather and talk about their own secret stuff? Or is it just some random post that has no value whatsoever?
