      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. [79.17] Getting too punishing?

From my experiences, when I hit an ore vein there's so much of the stuff that even with a cave-in I'll still be swimming in ore. Ore being destroyed by cave-ins, at the most, is just a nuisance: at worst a "Goddammit!" especially if you've been searching far and wide for that ore. With the extended generation of the sorts, chances are you're probably going to find all of the metals you need underground unless you somehow spawned in an island biome as if the mod was pulling a classic vanilla trick on you.
  2. This thread will be dedicated to any and all news and discussion of the internet from within the TFC forum. A sort of sub-forum for what's happening in the outside world and internet, these days. I'll start first: Around a month ago, a great spam war ravaged the heavily-active forums of FanFiction.net. Those unlucky dead or inactive forums were the lucky ones. Them spammers from Korea came marchin' in, layin' waste to the legitimate forum threads and terrorizing the forum-goers. I was lucky enough not to be around when the Great Spam War of 2015 occurred, but I've seen enough Korean spams and buried threads to know the war wasbad. When I returned to the most active forum on that site, I was relieved to see that the forum made it out alright... but them soldiers who fought in the war became changed men. I've heard they've seen and done things no one should ever experience. There was even one vet who told me the forum was besieged for months by them spammers, but their lieutenant and what's left of their platoon were determined to see it through. And they did: brave men, them soldiers were! Right now, they're just wiping up the remnants of the spammers, and the government o'er managed to reinforce some of their defenses to ensure the spammers don't attack the forums again. Though, we still got spam stories popping all o'er the archive regions of FanFiction.net, and that's another different front entirely that's been raging for years. Lucky that I didn't encounter any spammers armed with their ant-legit story rifles, though. And that's my news for now. Go on, tell your story/news!

I derail this thread. I also win.
  4. Name Me!

Bumping this up since I'm at least three months late on its anniversary...
  5. Nobody likes Space Whales

You guys are doing it wrong. *Grabs a galaxy-sized net from his pocket, sweeps all of the space whales, and spins them around one billion light-years a second, smashing them through ten-thousand neutron stars and blue suns: before throwing them into a super-black hole. The super-black hole collapses in itself and spews out a gamma-ray burst of rainbows and Nyan cats.* Now that'show you do it.
  6. How did you find out about TFC?

I have to thank Direwolf20--one of my personal favorite YouTubers--for giving a mod review of TFC way back in 2012, .
  7. If you want at least all sorts of monsters coming after you, to emulate a "zombie apocalypse" somewhat, then I suggest Coros' Zombie Awareness mod, . In all seriousness, a zombie-styled TFC does sound interesting... might make for some very interesting game dynamics going on, but I think it would be more appropriate as a fun add-on. A zombie apocalypse in TFC would surely completely change how one approaches the game: not only one has to find underground ores via caves to craft viable stuff, but one also has to account for scavenging for food and supplies (of course, this is part of games set in surviving a zombie outbreak, but in TFC's case,): and the whole point of TFC is to overhaul Minecraft's survival mode to be more challenging and believable.
  8. Thank you, TFC Staff

Forgive me for not minding my manners all of those years ago, but thank you very much Mr. Bioxx and Mr. Dunkleosteus for bringing about TerraFirmaCraft. Keep up with the good work. I first came here because of Direwolf20's mod spotlight on the hotfix version, which, right now at the present time, I assumed to be the starting stages of beta (Yep, I came here that far ago for some of you newcomers). Now, seeing this today, and all of the developments both on the mod and forum previously, makes me feel like an old geezer, . So, to make this thank you note flashier: THANK YOU VERY MUCH MR. BIOXX AND MR. DUNKLEOSTEUS FOR BRINGING ABOUT TERRAFIRMACRAFT!!! From an old-timer, -Sda209.
  9. Things change as time goes by. As quoted by Pharos: "No one can escape time. It delivers all to the same end. You can't plug your ears and cover your eyes." Certainly, if you were to compare the younger, immature me with the person you're speaking to right now, one would be lead to believe we're completely different persons.
  10. Best of Luck Dunk

Farewell Mr. Dunkleosteus! We hope your adventures as a space cowboy will be a most fruitful one! Good one, Mr. Dunkleosteus.
  11. Hello world.

WELCOME TO THE TERRAFIRMACRAFT FORUMS, WILLOFSTONE!!! We hope your enjoy your stay... (This style of introduction is an old tradition around here, especially with the old vets. Frankly, hardly anyone does this kind anymore [especially hiding text with the background color], as far as I know, but still...)
  12. Bumping this back up for newcomers and veterans to intermingle for the purposes of discussing both past and current events.
  13. Last comment wins

THE LOT OF YA' YOUNGLIN'S ARE DOIN' THE ART OF DERAILIN' ALL WRONG! BACK IN MAH' DAY, WE USED TO RUN DOWN DISCUSSION AND SUGGESTION TOPICS WITH GOOD OL' MEMES AND TEXT JOKES 'FORE MR. DUNKLEOSTEUS COMES A STOMPIN' IF THINGS GOT ROUGH!!!111 ///Obvious hermit on a rant.^
  14. Nostalgia

Bumping this thread for those interested.
  15. Nostalgia

I feel the need to create this thread so we can discuss the memories of we had here at the TerraFirmaCraft forums. Not just the good ones, the bad ones, as well. The reason for suggesting the remembrance of the bad memories is so we can learn from them, and do our best to ensure that such a disaster will never happen, again. As for the good memories, remember all of those times we derailed before the derail crackdown? Remember the Name Me thread? Remember the Holmesian Event (I don't know if that derail constitutes as bad or good, could someone please clarify?)? Remember our silliness and fun we had in the Off-Topic section? I'm not sure about the Discussion and Suggestion threads, but I figure we had a sort of good time there, as well. Let's discuss our memories, good and bad, so we can learn from them.
  16. TFC and The End

If this helps, there used to be a lot of discussion concerning the possible use of the Nether, and more recently The End, in TerraFirmaCraft, or even replace these dimensions entirely with some newer, and certainly more hostile, ones. Found some links to old threads that could help you: http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/832-go-to-hell/?hl=nether http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/1159-the-wailing-12-an-alien-new-realm/?hl=nether http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/5062-an-alternate-dimension/?hl=wailing#entry73823 A few threads to start with, but keep in mind that most of these are one-two years old. Consider it a gift from an old Tier-3 vet, .
  17. Which other forum did you join apart tfc?

How the heck did this I miss this one? Regardless, I'm mostly active at FanFiction.net, for those were around long enough to know me. I mostly participate in its Writers Anonymous forum, where a lot of us writers seeking improvement congregate and discuss and debate on a whole range of writing topics, . Used to be in quite a bit of roleplaying forums on that site too, actually. Man, there was one where I think it was the best RP I participated in, back in the day... Also, I play in First Person. Always have, and I really don't like the Third Person view in Minecraft, anyway. At least in actual gameplay, and not for cinematic/filming purposes.
  18. Multi-Crossover Roleplay Thread of Randomness

(It's time to revive this thread once more! I'll be starting off with something more... casual and a bit thematic.) --- The blazing summer heat washed over the town like a great tsunami. The sun's intense fingers touched every living being with her hot core and sent waves of unbearable warmth. One would say that the current temperature is like the equator moved up to the northern archipelago of Japan. As appropriate as she can, Yuuki was dressed in her summer outfit. A plain tank top, khaki shorts, and converses wasn't enough to keep her cool from the sun's heat. The umbrella seemed to be only her best bet, and right now it was working. Despite the town's pleasant general weather, to Yuuki it's more like the town became a gigantic, open-aired oven. At any rate, she might as well have to live in the arctic just to keep herself balanced and not so hot she'll suffer heatstroke.
  19. What are you reading?

I'm currently reading All Quiet on the Western Front for school, but I do immensely enjoy it. If you want to read a believable war story about the human condition and its horrors, then I think this is the book for you. I have read The Hobbit, but I'm still working on the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Still need to read the Silmarillion, however. I've read Hatchet and one American Civil War novella I can't remember, but they're both by Gary Paulsen. I leave it at that for now, because I really don't want to extend this further than necessary, .
  20. Hello, I'm here to help!

Ah, new blood? And especially a moderator-in-training? Impressive. Welcome to the forums. Call me Sda209: I'm a third-rate veteran here. I do hope you'll accomdate yourself nicely in this forum. I feel like I'm one of the last veterans here from the Elder Days of this forum -- I had developed an age system for the time periods of this forum, but I don't remember them much, now -- unfortunately, but if you do see someone whom we consider a veteran, stop by and consider greeting them, . We need more newcomers to keep the torch going: my time on this forum is fading.
  21. An Apology

Oi, Kitty, As one of the older members of this forum (goodness, I feel old when I say that... and I mean I've been around here longer than you, in a neutral tone), my advice to you is to stay strong, separate emotion from logic, think about your choices, options, and the evidence presented to you before making a final decision, and, well, try not to judge and assume as much. (I don't you mean you do that all the time; it's a general tip I follow when I look at intensive situations like the one that happened recently.) All of us are human, regardless of the positions we are in. Even the opposers/toxic individuals are still human. Patience and a clear mind are true virtues when it comes to being a moderator. I do hope that you learn and become stronger from this; I also hope for the banned to learn and become stronger from this, such that a similar incident may never happen again. My condolences to the both of you, -Sda209.
  22. What have you played while you waited for b79?

Team Fortress 2. Lots and lots of Team Fortress 2. And Space Engineers.
  23. TFC Build 79

Hello, everyone. It's been a darn good while since I have started a topic in the discussion forum - heck, it's been forever since I've participated in a major discussion. But, nostalgia is not the point right now. The main idea of this topic is speculation about Build 79. Now, I have started a similar topic concerning the construction update many months back, and a lot has changed, since then. I wonder; what do you think might be in the next major update? It has been a while since I've played TFC, aside from my return, but ever sincethe recent incursions into the modification, I've had a Renaissance exploding in my mind. New features, tweaks, many bug fixes (especially that pesky sequoia bug; nasty thing), and whatnot. I think that in the next update, we might have some sort of ecosystem overhaul. Let's face it; right now, the basic cow, pig, sheep, and chicken remain relativelythe same throughout the entire game world. Bears and deer don't really do anything, apart from the deer being another source of food and running away when one disturbs them, pheasants are just there as an alternative source of feathers (they are nice, though), and I doubt the fish are effective as a food source. I'm completely unsure if the developers still need more time to add in more features before they could focus on the ecosystems and nature, but I think that if they did this, a lot of the agrarian and natural aspects of the mod could be overhauled quite significantly. Crop rotation might serve an evenmore important role (take this with a grain of salt; I'm unsure if crop rotation is necessary in TFC's current state), animals would now need to be cared for, the player would have to build secure defenses to defend himself/herself from the dangers of predators, and so on and so forth. That's all I have to say, for now. What do you think the developers might put in the next update?
  24. Ridiculous Suggestions

    Excalibur. 'Nough said.
  25. Look who I stumbled across...

Oh Mr. Dunkleosteus, you sneaky, sneaky devil, .
