ATTENTION Forum Database Breach 03/04/2019
There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again. -

No suggestion from me that you were, TheWolf. You're right that the derailment generally signifies the end of the thread and my cue to unfollow. It is a shame though as good conversations in that thread end up weighed down with the extraneous chit-chat.

There is definately a need for great texture packs (isn't there always) so I second TheWolf's welcome and +1 (is that now +2?)!

I have noticed that most every thread I have seen seems to end in derailment. Makes it hard to discuss things, in my opinion. The idea of being harsh to new posters just to "probe them" is plain silly. Be harsh to people who deserve it. Being harsh to people because they are posting for the first time is called "being a jerk".

It is completely cosmetic, but it is something that any new player would notice, and YouTube videos will show, etc. That makes the bugfix a higher priority than would normally be for a cosmetic bug. -

I would say any tree after world generation is bugged, yes. -

I've often considered this topic. I'd be immortal if I could, whether I could end it when I wanted or not. I literally cannot imagine being bored enough with living to want to die. Nothing to do? Take a few million years to tour our galaxy. No spaceship? Build one? No technology? Well, you get the idea. One thing I have worried though, is remembering it all. I couldn't tell you much about what I was doing 10 years ago other than in the rough outlines of memory. Trying to remember what I did 7,000 years ago seems crazy without some sort of brain implant. I'd still try it, implant or no.

There is nothing to stop you from doing this in TFC right now. It's a great goal. Granted you will not unlock the "Epic Railroad Tycoon" achievement, but do it on an SMP server and invite your friends to come and visit.

I know Ender Dragon was just representative of distant goals to strive for in general, and I wasn't attempting to belittle your overall point, which is completely fair. Most games do have tough, difficult goals to strive for. TFC does as well, but it seems to me that the developers are striving for emergent, believable, survival based goals and challenges. I don't think there is much chance for a "You have won the game, Champion!" type of situation, but as the mod develops even more, new and exciting survival challenges will present.

Good advice. It does seem a bit odd for someone to wander into a hard survival mod and complain it is too hard. And like most, I came here after I had long given up on vanilla survival being any sort of challenge at all.
