      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    I am also looking for sheep (z= -13,000), but I have found very limited rolling hills/mountain biomes. If an area is devoid of sheep is that it, or is there a chance for sheep to spawn during the course of the game?

    I still have no idea what the problem was but I solved it by nuking .minecraft and doing a fresh install. So many old (and removed) mods, launchers, etc that it was time for a refresh anyway.

    Well done Mayaknife, a bang on description . My methods are very, very similar. I am currently searching for the very elusive gold vein in my current game after having found silver and nickel in a second layer of gabbro.
  6. [b75] Losing ore in the bloomery

    Same bug here, also with Magnetite. Destroying and replacing bloomery block fixes the problem but it remains glitched for me after that, now once the ore is finished processing the ore and charcoal bars remain full. They both eventually disappear once the phantom charcoal 'burns' out. (no more processed ore appears as a result) Bring on TFC II (And hopefully no more bloomery bugs)
  7. Method for cooling metal components?

    Metals cool much faster inside a chest than they do in player inventory. Metals don't cool at all inside an anvil AFAIK

    It would be really cool if the abilities of Rei's Mini map were tied into what items you were carrying. IE Full use of the mod would not be enabled until you had pen, paper, a map and a compass.

    I felt the same way, until I tried it. The most useful feature is the ability to set waypoints in game so that you can quickly and easily mark important locations (ore deposits, clay, shelters, etc). It has done away with writing down co-ordinates on a piece of paper for me.

    I've found iron as well so now I'm searching for gold and silver so I can craft black/blue/red steel. If I understand the alloys chart correctly that is. I just found traces of silver, hopefully it is easier to track down than my nickel find. With that one I cleared two double chests of stone to find 30 ingots of nickel. (branch mining) It was very scattered and hard to locate, I tunnelled through the 'vein' twice without discovering any Garnierite. Medium was the highest concentration of ore I found with my prospecter's pick.

    I consider copper, bismuth, tin and zinc to be the starter metals. Super easy to find (on my seed anyway). Copper is a tier 1 metal though so I see your point. It's the other two tier 1 metals that are eluding me, gold and silver. I have actually found some precious nickel and so I'm anxious to be able to craft black/blue/red steel.
  12. So the general consensus is to look for the rarer metals in the second and third stone layers. But my question is; Do the rarer metals (gold/silver/nickel/etc) even spawn in the first stone layer? (Does anything besides the starter ores spawn in the first stone layer?)

    While we wait for armour stands (maybe) try using picture frames to store/display your armour. Looks quite nice actually.
  14. Forge can't be used to melt metals.

    You have to use a bloomery to smelt ore. A forge can then be used to work the metal into ingots and then tools.

    I would have to guess that it's not a bug. Like you said, it is a great way to construct an early shelter. I'll have to try it. Congrats on the saw! Many more challenges await!
