      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Discussion thread for the Combat Revamp

That fact that you can move dirt blocks around at all is a little weird, one cubic metre of dirt would weigh well over a tonne, but it's part of minecraft and therefore its OK within the game. So rather than moving a block, how about you use a shovel which lowers a vertex whilst raising a designated area nearby. You could make ditch and dyke defences, level farm land or build dirt foundations, this kind of persistent world shaping has been done in other games (one set on Mars but the name escapes me). The mining aspects would be hard to model and maybe ARMA wasn't the best example, but I'm pretty sure it could be done in Unity.
  2. Discussion thread for the Combat Revamp

Related to the post in general, it's becoming fairly obvious that many of the limitations and impasses stem from Minecraft itself. Perhaps, as much as I hat to say it, Minecraft isn't the ideal engine for TFC to ultimately move forward with, especially with it's rate of update. Possibly using something like ARMA, as DayZ did or may be the unity engine could end up being less trouble or more powerful in the long run? Perhaps not the best place to post this but the combat system would then be much better coded to begin with and possibly not require so much re-engineering.

Well passed mere survival now, I think my cathedral will attest to that (nearly finished).
  4. Limonite smelting problems?

And I find that a bloomery, when left alone, doesn't get quite hot enough to smelt limonite, so bellows are definitely required.
  5. Wood Fertilization

How about 3 different types of fertiliser, 1 for each colour and the charcoal as a general soil improver? But they just top up the nutrients, no instagrow.
  6. The Communist Cafe

If you mean Benito Mussolini of Italy, he was a fascist, sort of the opposite of Communist. If not sorry. You could have a little cheese board for Putin on the Ritz (do you have Ritz crackers where you are?) or the Mikhail Gorbachev's special (chef's special, geddit? OK I'm finished)
  7. Spumwack's Dropping TFC

Link to his vid .Well Spumwack's given up on TFC, which came as a bit of a surprise as it sems to be his top rated show. I really enjoyed it while it lasted but I seemed to be thinking 'Just read the f'ing wiki' at least once per episode and that was while he had Dunk on board. JuryDutySummons seems to start and stop worlds and at least one other youtuber totally failed at TFC. Is TFC too hard to Let's Play? Are there any good youtubers you know of? Should Dunk have taken Spumwack by the nose and led him through the game? Thoughts please.
  8. Unbalanced Wall recipe (build 75)

I don't think anyone in the world actually carves stone in situ to create a wall, these are all approximations for a game.
  9. Unbalanced Wall recipe (build 75)

As the vanilla wall has some good mechanics, but terrafirma usually requires the use of a chisel to achieve the desired effect may I suggest that vanilla recipe is modified to give 6 wall pieces but that the chisel is req'd and take wear damage? This should also reduce some of the system overheads caused by lots of chiselled blocks.
  10. Idea for new the awesome new chisel setting you added!

    Execrable! (my favourite word)
  11. Spumwack Reply Video

They're certainly fantastic. Were they built in TFC as there's glowstone and the leaf blocks look to be behaving differently to how they do in my world.
  12. Spumwack Reply Video

I didn't know that, I've tried oak and pine and only got a weird single thickness object a bit like what you remove whilst knapping, off on a tree hunt now.
  13. Spumwack Reply Video

It's deliberate, both to use up all the different stones without having to quarry great expanses of ground and to break up the path. The back story for monastry has pilgrims bringing stone to help in it's construction.
  14. Spumwack Reply Video

The main reason for always using birch wood stairs is ease, none of the other base woods seem to work as vanilla recipes. The secondary reason is lag, too much carving seems to strain my machine and is noticeable in areas with columns and such. Thanks for the constructive criticism.
  15. Spumwack Reply Video

I've been watching Spumwack's TFC let's play and I have to say, some of his buildings are ugly, bloody painfully ugly. So I've told him so and as it's easy to just sit and criticise without fear on the internet I've put together a slide show of what I've achieved. It's all legit, apart from some water being fixed. I hope you'll take a look and tell me what you think. Youtube link
