      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Hey there ghiojo. You need to copy the modpack address from the Roanoke enjin site under the modpack links and then paste it into the add modpack portion of the technic launcher.
  2. One Single Giant Server

Despite TFC being the best incarnation by far of MC it (possibly of a necessity) continues some of its major flaws. A few thoughts..... maybe only one if I get tired.... a)The way "monsters" pop in and out just because it gets dark was a clever trick during development but it is absurd now. Many people have said they should change to more "realistic" mobs but I say this is wrong-minded as the essential flaw remains. Mobs need to have some reason to be where they are that is NOT based on light level. Most hostile mobs should spawn in defined groups with a defined purpose....pride of lions, neanderthal village, etc. Perhaps some sorta boogie man could spawn underground near ore bodies to protect it from the players. In all cases there should NOT be endless spawnings based on light level or other arbitrary criterion.. surely we are past the charms of that mechanic. Players can do way too much.... skills seems not a bad solution but there will need to be a vast difference between the work of skilled and unskilled players. Maybe without a "mining" skill you can't dig below level 100.... just a thought. No farming skill?..... not every seed you plant actually produces a result. c) Food is a joke after the first while.... this really needs to change. I am considering (alarm bells) eliminating ALL food production from our server (Roanoke 5) with the only way to obtain it is through purchase from a vendor..... mad idea but I am being driven to extremes. d)Our capacity to carry stuff is MADNESS!! And now we have bloody "vessels" to make it crazier! Personally I refuse to use the them as an aid to carrying stuff but we have players clamoring for "backpacks" to exacerbate the problem... truly I despair! Some sorta cart (ancient warfare mod has a brilliant one) is desperately needed as currently we can carry according to my calculations 83 or so TRUCKLOADS of logs!! (I work in the forest industry so this especially galls me). A wheelbarrow, a wagon, a packhorse... anything to help here would be awesome. Sorry... went a bit monkey there..... must be the altitude. I apologize if I have offended the mod-makers and thank them again for this amazing venue for playing MC. I also recognize I might be a bit off topic too so please feel free to move this where appropriate. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
  3. Make it Harder! =]

Good stuff! There will be a server that will open soon that at least somewhat addresses the ore distribution aspect..... you can't just dig anywhere and expect to find minerals.
  4. Blast Mining

Great post. Considering that most players (I think) play a more cooperative game and there is not the emphasis on PVP (Uggh!) that optimizing the powder kegs for industrial use rather than skulduggery makes way more sense. We are going to be doing a server where ALL minerals will have value as "exports" so using powderkegs for mining those giant coal deposits would be helpful.
  5. A couple mad ideas..... three in fact. 1. Rain sucks... it is merely an annoyance. Lets give it some purpose. Make fire spread based on how long it has been since the last rain. In addition add a rare event... "dry lightning".... this will make rain mean something... as a matter of fact you may be praying for it 2. A very talented player on our server ruined our economy by automating sluices with redstone... simply put, make the buggers wear out and break... problem solved. 3. Reiterating an old idea.... make ore more plentiful towards the poles well above the tree line. This would cause players to explore north and south to find the balance of required resources. The single player crowd (weirdos) complained that they wouldn't be able to find everything within spitting distance of their porch (poor babies). Either make it a configurable option or let the loners suffer. This for your consideration... thanks so much for the opportunity to comment and for rescuing Minecraft from mediocrity.
  6. Pottery: Static Positioning

I agree completely..... the spinning seems unnecessary and peculiar.
  7. Regarding Powder Kegs:

Hate to ask but would it be possible to make powder kegs explosive effect depend on how many stacks of gunpowder you use? The blast radius with 4 is pretty devastating making it inappropriate for industrial use. I reckon a bout a 1/4 of the blast effect would be useful in breaking out large ore bodies.
  8. Hey there. Clay used to be hard to find but now... everywhere.... can't swing a cat without it getting covered in clay. Simple fix..... make the ingot molds non-recoverable... this would provide much needed wastage. Correct me if I'm wrong but vessels allow us to carry 4 times as much stuff (of a certain type) than before.... weren't we carrying rather too much before? The Minecraft avatar carries as much as a small merchant ship (making us a vessel of sorts too) and I would rather see this decreased than increased. Maybe make it so vessels can only be used to smelt with... I dunno... ain't thought this through yet. Lastly.... thanks so much to Bioxx, Dunk and others for keeping this best incarnation of Minecraft going...its truly inspiring.
  9. Ingame money

What is the economy in TFC actually lacking (if you play on Roanoke stop reading now.. you have been warned)? I say its an external market.... you gather resources, sell them to a buyer and whooosh!..... they are never seen again but, you have some lovely coins in hand now There is a horrible surfeit of resources in TFC (all minecraft really) because players work hard and (even worse) are very clever. There is no feasible way to utilize the bounty of the land as the chests fill up, ennui grows, purpose is lost and the server dies (insert sad, sad music). I feel the wastage created by "exporting" goods to a hypothetical market (, rich people, corporate criminals, aliens) would serve several functions: 1. Make every ore body worth something as it can be mined, transported, stacked and sold for profit. 2. Farming would become meaningful as crops are grown, harvested, stored and sent out to feed a hungry world (somewhere). 3. Value added products like brick blocks, leather, cloth, booze (hic), tool heads, etc. could be made and sent on their way. 4. Exports would generally put pressure on all aspects of the economy to produce much needed demand. Note, the goods would in fact be merely eliminated (when logs leave where I work I never see them again... as if they vanished!) What is done with the coin? Use yer 'magination. Land auctions, buy vanilla items from a store, bribe senators, pay taxes..... lotsa possibilities. Mad idea I know but there ya go.
  10. Regarding Powder Kegs:

Cool! Thanks Dunk.... this is good news to me.... I think.
  11. Regarding Powder Kegs:

Thanks for the reply but I was hoping that someone knew whether it destroyed ore (btw I think your correct Transcengopher). Anyone know for sure out there?
  12. Regarding Powder Kegs:

Question have I young Skywalker.... Do the powder kegs destroy ore and coal? If not (and I hope not) they would be superb for breaking out large ore bodies like coal. The combat use is fine but the ability to use them on an industrial basis would be both accurate and interesting. Thanks for the opportunity to comment.
  13. boats breaking

Yup... the very same thing has happened to me many times. I've wrecked on lily pads as well.... but not always. My advice for what its worth.... take 2 extra boats wherever you go.... happy sailing
  14. Gonna dredge this up again folks... any comments?
  15. Donations

Ask and ye did receive.... truly my pleasure to help
  16. Avoiding The Grind

I thought this topic needed new exposition as its implementation would be a great stride forward. Firstly, is it feasible? I know little about programming but if the suggestions were used it would improve greatly an already superior system. I do like the idea of getting away from the long tunnels (imagine trying to float a new mining company that said "we are going to start digging in no particular area.... you should invest in us"). I wonder if the deposits that you find higher up may be indicators of what you might find lower down... minerals usually have predictable "bedfellows"..... lead with silver, pyrite (iron) with everything , etc. Anyhow... great idea. As to "the grind"..... its the bane of all Minecraft as I see it, not just TFC. Theres this perfidious word that crops up.... "Endgame".... It seems to kill maps by providing an arbitrary goal (kill the ender-dragon or make "red steel")) and then what else? There needs to be more tangible goals in-game to maintain interest like an economy or some such... it would be nice if TFC provided that but I think servers can do it on their own if there is a clear vision and plan at the start. I have more mad comments but I would like to see if there is more input first. Once again, I totally support this concept and feel it merits consideration. Thanks for reading.
  17. Gorni said "To loose each ingot mold after getting an ingot out would be very extreme, since you'd use more wood on firing clay than on making charcoal." Fair point if wood wasn't absurdly easy to get..... find one willow tree and breed a thousand. Thanks very much for your comments Gorni
  18. Yay! Feedback. Thanx for the clarification..... still seems to be a heck of a lot of it.....
  19. Regarding Powder Kegs:

What's with all these suggestions lately that people are only suggesting because their specific server would benefit from it?
  20. I would welcome an insult at this point :/ If I have offended the single player community with my heavy handed baiting (just trying to get a response) then I apologize. I am just wondering if my ideas are so wonderful they need not be commented on? Prove me wrong
  21. Advancing Ages : Making it Harder

Mayhap a better way to manage food is to address it in regards to diet. Make it necessary to eat several different food types to maintain health and vigour. I can't imagine how unhealthy you would be if you ate nothing but cherries..... brrr!
  22. Ideas For Hardcore mode.

Great ideas.... food especially needs to be fixed in all Minecraft, not just TFC. My mad idea, Players age and die after a configurable life span... say.... approximately 150 minecraft days (attach a randomizer). As they approach their demise they get cute messages "your back is stiiff", " it hurts to pee" or "whatcha say?... I don't hear so well....". This would provide warning to get home, store stuff and prepare for death. Once they respawned (hope they had a bed) they would recieve some sort of bonus.... skill point (wasn't Bioxx talking about skills?), experience etc. If a player died an "unnatural death" (drowned, zombie ganked, plummeting too far, etc.) they would pay a forfeit ( lose skill point or something). This would make it imperative that players guard their lives at all hazards. Comments?
  23. Sweet. Thank you powers that be. Sorry to Andrea too, my comment was not addressed at you just the "annoyia sequoia".
