      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  2. [Offline] Whitelisted Small Community Role-Play TFC Server

Jesse N Eastern Yes I have skype, though I havn't used it ina good while. Ludgarthewarwolf 20 Been playing vanilla since 2011 Picked it up after finding it while looking for information on Bloomeries, fell in love with its realism. As for experience, I've played on 3 of the various incarnations of Roanoke. I've always had an issue of single player TFC having no focus or drive, I find that when playing with a community, you get a lot more out of the experience. Plus I've always like to role-play as the amster smelter...
  3. TConstruct-esque tools

There's more to this idea than just weapons I believe. So far, this thread seems to be focusing on swords, which is not a bad example, but perhaps missing the point. When making an axe the choice of wood used for the handle is just as important as the head. You wouldn't want to use a brittle wood like pine, but hickory or ash would be much better. This would improve the overall durability of the tool. But back to swords. The hilts of swords were commonly made out of wood with a covering of various materials; decorative wood, rayskin, leather, wire; but it was mostly superficial. There was no real "tier" system of better handles over worse ones. What mattered was the blade composition, and TFC already has a metal tier system that is realistic. While this idea is cool, and would certainly add use for precious metals, gems, and minerals; it wouldn't "add" anything of worth to the mod.
  4. Multi-Player suggestions; Metal's Industry

So I've already posted a post here about "small" changes I though TFC could use, but this post is planned to be a much more larger and encompassing. So I've had a ball playing TFC multiplayer, but I've also noticed some...lacking in how TFC works for a multiplayer community; in this post metalworking. With a town's worth of players prospecting and mining, the default blast furnace seems a bit...small. I believe, if only for balance reasons or aesthetics, that there not only needs to be another tier between the bloomery and the blast furnace, that there needs to be an overhaul of how both work.Bloomery:How the bloomery works now is nice, a much need improvement for realism. But its mechanics are off. Speaking from personal experience and research, common bloomeries need a constant supply or air and charcoal to smelt Iron. The older TFC bloomery was more like RW bloomeries in that regard, but I prefer the simple addition of an air-supply necessity to the bloomeries.Blast Furnace:My one complaint with the blast furnace is its size. Blast furnaces, even primitive medieval ones, had to be much larger to maintain the heat and reducing atmosphere needed for Iron smelting. I propose the addition of tiers to the blast furnace; 1x1, 2x2, and 3x3. As the size increases, so does the output and efficiency, but also the material cost. It would be balanced so that only the largest towns could afford a 3x3 blast furnace. (Previous posts about mechanized air supplies would work here)Catalan Forge:This would be the middle man. Catalan forges were medieval Spanish forges that used highly pressurized air supplied not by bellows, but by a Trompe, a medieval air compressor. These forges would allow solo players to still to produce high quantities of iron without a blast furnace.Additional Ideas would be the implementation of forge welding to create steel from blooms, along with different quality steel for different tools, but those are for another day. I hope you find these suggestions interesting and agreeable- Ludgar
  5. Minor Gameplay additions

Playing in TFC recently, I have noticed some small issues that should be addressed and are quite simple in my mind to fix: 1. Lime-water should be makeable in a barrel, fill one with water and add flux. It would simplify the leather tanning production. Slightly more would be to make mortar mixable in barrels, but again, only a minor change. 2.Instead of raining in the winter months it should snow. Again, I hope a simple change. see below 3.The crucible should "Fill up" with whatever metal it is holding. I hope these contribute to the development.
  6. Minor Gameplay additions

Answers: 1.Perhaps a craftable block of flux that could only be "eaten" by a full barell of water 2. Thanks, though I'm wondering how cold it must get, theres been times Im in snow drifts and it raining 3. I was thinking a not full/ full rendering, with the molten metal color of the either the largest component or the alloy. Thanks for clarifications
  7. Mechanical Power. What do people(you) think about it?

I think any such mechanization would be interesting, but think it's best application would be to multiplayer. Maybe it would scale, as more and more tedius tasks become aided by mechanization of any sort, than the resources required would also grow, leading to a need for contnued growth and expansion.

  11. [B75] Surface Ore Vein Near Spawn

This seed is better than you think. Whilst digging down to prospect, I breached a humongous cavern with plenty of iron, copper, galena, tetrahedrite, and cinnabar. Check it out. http://imgur.com/a/CYblJ
