      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Rats would be a great addition to the game in my opinion. These little buggers raided human food stores ever since humans stored food. I also love the idea of a rat dungeon, where all the food the rats steal is given to the rat king, and you can get revenge on him. I work with vermin a lot, and I can tell you they are very hard to keep away from grain, probably nearly impossible. They can chew through wood, dirt, and even thin metal, so they would remain through the whole game until colored steel granaries are built. Plus, they could potentially spread diseases such as the black plague.

  2. Maybe we should compromise. You first use the path dimension and portals to access an island. Then, when you conquered the island the curse that protected the ocean span between it is lifted. After that you could use the path dimension or boats.

  3. That does sound like an innovative system, I also heard that there are going to be "water chunks" Where animals move to drink and then move elsewhere, creating animal movement instead of animals being in the same place you found them several days ago.

  4. Perhaps have a real life taste system for variance. For example, I like roast beef, but after eating it for too many meals I wouldn't like it anymore, so I eat something else and eventually I would like it qgain. There could be a saturation effect or something like that when you eat foods you like. Foods you hate, however, can only be eaten if the player was starving and desperate. If we have pre-generated taste system than your personal likes and dislikes can be changed by your eating habit. For example I'm not a huge fan of fish, but I can stand it (neutral liking), I eat it with a varied meal every now and then and the taste grows on me and I might even start to like it.

  5. Those natural reactors would have to be extremely, extremely,  extremely rare in the game because oklo in central Africa is the only place in the world found to have this phenomenon

  6. I'm not sure about nuclear power in tfc because it's more medieval themed, and also realistically speaking uranium ore has such a low concentration of uranium that it isn't radioactive enough to harm you, just to let you know uranium ore was once used to tint glass a bright yellow-green color, and no one got poisoned from the glass as far as records go

  7. But what about telling the month or the season's or even what day it is, clocks don't really handle that, so perhaps have a calender or something

  8. One problem is that if your in the northern equator it will be a cheaty way of getting to the south pole, and it will also look weird to just suddenly teleport across the world, games like starbound managed this feat of round worlds but mincraft is not the right game for this because you can't make a round world without changing the y value in minecrafts setup

  9. Perhaps I should tweak my idea, the two branches of science and magic still exist but both can be used, but the higher tier you are at the harder it is to use both, meaning one can use both at low tiers but has to choose a branch at higher tiers, however there is still a brew or potion or something that allows you to switch branches

  10. What about if we had a system of a science tech tree and a magic tech tree, and one was limited to only being able to do one tree, and the only way you could switch is if you drank some sort of brew that reset your research, basically making you start over. Each tree has its pros and cons making them equally as powerful but still different.

  11. I agree, for example someone builds a huge fortress complete with Redstone weapons and traps and everything, just to have someone dig through the wall and steal and wreck everything. Perhaps a good tier system like ORIONOX suggested would help, but then a high level player could just troll everyone without being stopped

  12. Yes, it is also important to add a use for everything, I just thought of something else, babbot bearings, babbot is an alloy made of copper and lead(gives a use for lead),

  13. In several topics I have seen mentions of mechanical power, so I'm making a topic for it.

So, first power production, perhaps we add wind and water turbines, and possibly even steam boilers that produce power.

Next, power transfer, power is transmitted through shafts that can be made of different material and break if too much strain is put on them, for turning shafts you could add some kind of bevel gear, possibly even belts and belt hubs.

I should probably describe how power works, power is measured in speed and torque, these values are separate and don't depend on each other, machines require a certain amount of speed or torque, depending on the machine or tool your using, if too much torque is put on a shaft it breaks, speed  and torque can be interchanged by using a gear box, there would different kinds of gear boxes with different gearing ratios.

Finally, a list of machines that use power: sawmill, pottery wheel, spinning wheel, grinding stone, lathe, and many more could probably be thought of.

  14. I think debris could be implemented along with body temperature and not cause too much lag, though for a sand/dust storm not every particle of dust or sand could be defined
