      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. TerraFirmaModcraft, with friends!

It's been a while since I've updated this topic. Series is up to episode 11 now, we're working with iron and steel, building our little town. We've started trading with the natives, and it seems like about the right time for some real fun to start, so we've finally invented mechanical power. I built our first stirling engine today. Things are about to start getting really interesting!
  2. What other mods do you use with TFC?

I'm using Buildcraft and Railcraft for my SMP Youtube LP series. Railcraft was a fairly easy port, Buildcraft required me to hand-place an oil spawn for us to work with in creative mode, but since BC doesn't require any more world generation than that, it works. I did have to make lots of changes to the config files, of course, and vanilla conversion recipes have to be enabled. Lapis and redstone are possible, though annoying, to get. Vanilla cobblestone can be obtained by getting TFC cobblestone (not stone, cobblestone), which can be acquired by blasting rock with fairly large amounts of TNT...I actually like this mechanic, because then it feels like you're getting some sort of industrial-grade compressed cobblestone instead of just a bunch of cobbled together rock for your BC gears. Glowstone and other such nether-related bricks are, however, impossible through normal means, so they have to be cheated in, although we justify it by "trading" for them. Diamonds are technically possible to get in TFC, though rare as hell, so we're allowing ourselves to trade for those too, but we set the price STEEP to make sure we have to work suitably hard for modern luxuries. And yes, quarries do work in TFC. And they do give you the appropriate drops.
  3. TerraFirmaModcraft, with friends!

Episode 3 and 4 are up on my Youtube channel now...Ep. 4 in particular gives that wonderful sensation that we've all experienced at some time or another in regards to the prospector's pick, the feeling that you're just wasting time and durability chasing after a deposit that doesn't exist, lol.
  4. TerraFirmaModcraft, with friends!

And as it turns out, I need to tweak my audio levels for my friends a little bit. Ep 1 and 2, they're gonna be pretty quiet, should have it fixed for Ep 3.
  5. Hi folks! My name is Nightdagger, and I have a Youtube channel where I frequently post videos from my various Minecraft LP series, most frequently technical in nature. I've done a few tutorial videos for TFC, and I did have one TFC series that I did a while back, where I played on a SMP server, but I wasn't happy with the way it turned out. So, tonight, me and a few of my friends started out a new TFC LP series, where we're going to be building together, community style. So far, nothing out of the ordinary. But there's one thing that will set this series apart from the other TFC series you may have seen in the past. We have other mods. Namely, Buildcraft and Railcraft. And we know how to use them. We're doing this community style, throttling ourselves from reaching the endgame too quickly by using a community vote type system...we won't start progressing into higher tier metals, or into Buildcraft/Railcraft stuff, until we feel as a group that our little village has established itself well enough to support that kind of industry. We're not really hamming it up RPwise though, just sharing the tasks around and building together. And yes, we are going to have to "cheat" a few things in along the way, because even with all of the vanilla recipes enabled, there are some things required for these mods that you just can't get in TFC. So, we're doing a "trading with the foreigners" system, where we sacrifice certain TFC resources in order to get vanilla resources. For example, 8 of any type of stone and 1 bar of copper can be traded for a piece of nether brick, and a full suit of wrought iron armor can be traded for a vanilla diamond (yes, you can get vanilla diamonds in TFC with vanilla conversion enabled, but it's ridiculously rare, to the point of being impractical), and other such conversions will be established for us as time goes on. So, if you want something a little bit spicier than normal TFC, come check out this series! It'll be pretty familiar for the first little bit, of course...the Industrial Revolution doesn't happen overnight, after all...but once we start dabbling in some of the other mods, I'm sure you'll find it quite a bit different from your usual TFC series. 6. Uses for Ores? Gems?

At least in the most recent version, Ore Dictionary does not recognize TFC copper, tin, or iron/steel alloys. I tried making IC2 copper wire, batteries, and an iron furnace using the TFC metals and none of them would work, although converting TFC wrought iron to vanilla iron and using that works for the iron furnace, of course.
