ATTENTION Forum Database Breach 03/04/2019
There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again. -
This forum is now READ ONLY! 01/20/2020
As of this post and forever into the future this forum has been put into READ ONLY MODE. There will be no new posts! A replacement is coming SoonTM . If you wish to stay up-to-date on whats going on or post your content. Please use the Discord or Sub-Reddit until the new forums are running.
Any questions or comments can be directed to Claycorp on either platform.

Have to sign up to download? no thanks
-
thanks, turns out I was using a 'too new' version of optifine for 1.5.2
-
I'm aware that there has been a very recent fix to the launcher, and that those who reported problems are advised to check we are updating to the new launcher correctly. So what I've done is delete my TFCLauncher file, and re-download from the website. Then the launcher pops up, I click options and tell it to force update. Click on, and then login with my details. Everything seems to download fine (no errors), then the launcher closes and the game never starts, no minecraft window or anything. I've then tried to adjust the installation directory in the options, and re-forcing the update. Again this results in the launcher just closing when I click login. Can't run in admin mode as its a java app, I've tried everything I can think of. Any ideas? O/S: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (SP1) Resolved Deleted TFcraft folder in %appdata% and re-applied force update Optifine Fixed by downloading the correct version for the Minecraft version.

Now to try and get Optifine working lol. I've tried to install to CoreMods and/or mods folder but not working, anyone able to get this working?
-
Is that supposed to be the way we do it though tyriael-soban? Does Bioxx intend for us to have to do this?
-
What about item frames? I'm sure you can still put armour in those
-
I had the opposite when I played, Sluices resulted in...well...stuff all of anything for the amount of time I put in, exploring for me resulted many many times more ores. If you didn't know, when you find a surface ore, there are usually another 4-6 nodes ore more, around that area in a sort of circular or square area, and your supposed to find the centre of that circle/square and when you have a pickaxe, dig down to find lots of ore (its like a marker for where underground ore is).
-
I agree, if they mentally just don't have the capacity to play then maybe the game isn't for them (i.e prospecting takes quite a bit). But what I'd hate to see (because this is an awesome mod) is that those of us who are experienced, just turn away the in-experienced because they are new, they may just need a helping hand. Hope that makes sense, I wasn't trying to imply that the game needs to be dumbed down to suit these new people.
-
Wow guys, way to support the mod, scare all the new players off... You know the mod needs people to actually play it right? Whats the point in scaring people away? You trying to hog TFC for yourself or something? Get over it, we all started somewhere, if someone asks a question that's already been asked, kindly point them to use the search feature Edit: GenerikB ftw.

I'm probably in no position to add any 'shove to this' but I second the request, I halted playing TFC waiting for some updates to TFC2, my motto was why put all this time and energy into something I'm going to ditch a few months later...
-
Or a way to melt down your 99% broken armour and get 'somthing' back out of it, or repair it with more ingots
-
Yep i use it, they prob will when they grow a brain

I've recently created both a Bloomery and a forge in my Terrafirmacraft world, I've used both and from what I can see, the Forge seems much better for the player who doesn't mind waiting around a bit, and seems to overpower (in my opinion) the Bloomery I'm new to the forums, and also to TerrafirmaCraft, this is my findings, please feel free to correct me, but please do so in a constructive manner : ) Benefits of a Forge Can cook / smelt up to five items/ore at a timeGets a heat bonus if all five fuel slots are usedHas a better fuel consumption to ore ratio than the Bloomery (they cannot smelt ore, thanks for the info guys) - editedCan control the end heat result of the ores you are smelting (take them out at desired heat) (see above, cannot smelt ore)Cons of a ForgeAll five fuel slots required to be full at all times for heating bonusBenefits of a BloomeryCan smelt ore in large bulk amounts in minimal timeSmelted ore becomes heated to the hottest possibleCons of a BloomeryRequires a greater quantity of charcoal to ore ratio than what the forge doesEverything comes out at super-heated tempraturesCannot cook food or heat items, only ore - edited inThis begs the question, is the Bloomery pointless unless you have absolutely ridiculous amounts of ore?Edit: Questions answered, thanks guys. Hopefully this helps others

Your community will stand behind you Dunkleosteus, dont fret too much

OMG I didn't know that, awesome! Edit: Drools over Textures can be animated.
-
Oh yep, then ItemFrames should work, I just tested and its still working in this latest version of TFC
-
Hurray! Its more the fact they can't work out how to install an old version of minecraft, when they run 1.4.7, I've told them about MultiMC, but they are so stubborn about these third party apps heh
-
This has got some good attention i think, I've edited the main topic to reflect my incorrect assumptions on the differences between forge and bloomery,my hope is that any new people will realize the key differences, and not put their chicken down the bloomery shoot LOL
-
Your actually right, thanks for pointing this out, now there is a reason to keep the Bloomery lol. I wont bother editing the original post, but I'll consider this topic closed, thanks Emris
-
Handy hint, if its tools your wanting to store and they wont go into chests, instead of using itemframes, you could use ToolRacks..
-
Have to third this, will save much pain getting my friends onto this awesome mod (they can't follow the install instructions to save their life)

Question from someone sick of prospecting for ore
minecraftaddict replied to aria230's topic in Discussion
I hated prospecting, after much practice in a cheat world (thanks to the wonders of NEI) I figured out how to do it properly, and its not so bad....Its probably harder to find a mod that does what you want, than it it to practice with the pro pick in a test world with NEI. Anyway, my two cents, and if I can do it, anyone can because man I am such a slow learner. -
I've followed this to the exact letter, watched multiple youtube videos, even spawned in a whole bunch of picks in a new world to practice, no luck in finding anything, this is how i am doing it. 1.) find an area which is rich in surface ores. 2.) dig down until I reach stone, dig down a further 4-5 layers. 3.) survey until i find 'Very large deposit' (doesn't take long). 4.) Mark my starting position with a torch, mine out 12 blocks in one direction, check where the ore ends (or else continue onwards until it does change size) 5.) Head back to the starting position, make a branch, mine out 12 blocks again in one direction, check where the ore ends (or else continue onwards until it does change size) 6.) Make another branch to the right (so its nearly con-enciding to make a U shape) for another 12 blocks. 7.) deduct the centre of this box, and dig down = Result = Nothing. My method: Checking every 12 blocks to see when the deposit size changed, and then went in an opposite direction basicly until I end up with a U shape, that pretty much gives me a box to work within, as far as I know, everyone does this correct? So I mine down the middle of this hypothetical box, and down the middle again, no ores. I mine down a couple more layers, map out the same box as above, and mine out the middle, no ores. I continue this down until the ore deposts change. Am I doing something very wrong? There's supposed to be a huge deposit but i can never find it (went through 5 zinc pickaxes and 2x prospectors picks). I really love everything this mod has, much more than other mods, but this prospecting thing has got me absolutely, positively, stumped to the point where i'm wasting hours on it. Somthing I'm doing is horrible Edit: OMG i'm so fail, i was actually stopping at the 12 block marker point, i've tried again out of desperation to solve this puzzle, I was doing it wrong by stopping at the 12 block marker point and making another branch, when I should have continued onwards til the ore deposit changed, giving me a more accurate box, and a more accurate centre, which when I dug down in a 2x2 pattern, I struck a goldmine of ore! Rewards: 12 stacks of 8 ores.
