      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Inventory Space: Oh my god it's a thread about Inventory

I also like Hyena's idea. Its a really good idea, but I can't help thinking to maybe tweaking it a little. The way I am thinking is, the Light, Medium and Heavy weight categories have their own value. For example, Light = 10, Medium = 20 and Heavy = 50. The player has a Carry Limit value of 100 and each item consumes their part of the limit. The player can then balance between carrying a lot of light items versus carrying a few Medium/Heavy items. The player's carry limit is left as the given limit. Bags and other containers would be given a weight category. Each container would have their own limit of how much can be put inside of them. For example, Leather Pouch has a limit of 40 and a backpack is 100. The containers can also be accessed by right clicking the item, like with the clay pot, which could also have its own limit. The numbers I've given can be tweaked for balancing purposes and for simplicity, if needs be (perhaps 1/2/5, with a limit of 10). The numbers could also be placed in the config file for players and server admins to tweak to their preference. Another idea is to also implement the size of the item in a similar way with the weight. Items are either Small/Medium/Large. So you can have a lot of small item, or a few large items, whilst also balancing the weight of items you're carrying. Alternatively, only let the item size effect the containers, so only small items can fit in a leather pouch. Some changes to the Inventory GUI, like displaying the current amount carrying and the limit (Current / Limit). Perhaps colour coding the weight/size text in the tool-tip (the colours could also be changed in the config). This is probably just a mathematical version of Hyena's Light/Medium/Heavy idea, but I think this would still be just as flexible and simple as the original idea.
  2. Discussion thread for the Combat Revamp

Some nice ideas with the Combat System Revamp and stuff. Here are some of my questions, suggestions and comments. (Grab a drink, this is a long'n) I like the idea of a skill system. Especially that it isn't going to be used as a requirement for certain things. Like 20 blacksmith skill is require to make iron armour. I'm thinking maybe implement the system, where you do not see, or choose not to see, the numbers of skills. Like eliminate the skill GUI with lists of skills and levels. Perhaps add something which is noticeable by the eye. For example, you begin Archery and your accuracy is low. Keep practising, perhaps get a few hits/kills with it and you notice your accuracy is getting better. Maybe as some feedback, a message could appear saying something like "You feel as though you're getting better at <Skill>". Just an idea. Now, the combat system revamp... thing. I like the idea of a random chance locational damage. Looks interesting. Pity there is probably no chance for a special detection for a arrow head shot (or in the knee), but never mind. Does this mean different types of weapon and armour? If so, what sort of (dis)advantages would these have? Like, would Heavy Armour have more HP but less Speed, whereas Light armour is the opposite (Higher speed, Lower HP)? Or would the material of the armour have an effect on it's stats? Lastly, the magic that I read. Would this magic be pure magic or science-magic? Like, the science-magic would be the different things that would be available to do, but the science of it is there, but is considered as magic. Sorry for the amount of questions. If I asked anything you haven't decided yet or want to keep secret then that's okay . Looking forward to see more future development of this mod/total conversion.
  3. Log Gathering / Processing

I made tried to make a mod once, which when you chopped a log, you received two Half Logs. These were blocks, which were literally half a log. You would then place these half logs down and you had to chop these in half to make Quarter Logs, which were also blocks. These quarter logs are placed down and chopped to make planks, similar items to the planks in this mod. Maybe something like this could be added? This would mean harder work to process the logs, but maybe with a saw or something this process could be simplified or quicker. I do like the tree stump idea . Maybe that block would be harder/impossible to chop, so you'd have to start on the block above? EDIT: Here's an image of what I mean...
  4. My Kingdom for a roof

Wow! I have never seen that mod before and I have always wondered what sloped blocks would look like in Minecraft. I'm in two minds about it though. I like it, but at the same time I don't. I like it, because it really does look good. I looked on that thread's OP and saw the image of a stone building with an orange tiled roof, which looks just like the roof on the house outside my window lol. Really nice to see. However, I don't like it, because it makes Minecraft look less 'blocky' and this blocky look is what makes Minecraft. I love the imaginative aspect of the blocks currently in Minecraft (and TFC). Like the stair blocks used to make a roof, fence posts with pressure plates as a table and even the same stair blocks as sofas and chairs. Something like this I would like to see more of. If there was to be a sloped block, maybe model the block with tiny steps. But then you might as well use planks or chisled stone. If there were to be a block solely dedicated to be a roof, it must have some sort of benefit to it, other than to keep the rain out. Maybe to insulate heating within the building or something? I just think that to make a roof block there must be a better reason for them rather than just for aesthetic, because if that was the case then I would rather stick to stairs or chisled stone as the roof.
