      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. yknow what would be cool, is if you could make cloth sheets, and then place them kind of like glass panes, to make cloth walls, ala nomadic canvas homes

    ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

expanding that, it could be used to make beds, light clothing ect..... oh and we should also be able to make paper walls...

  2. Yes ive noticed this too, and now requires you to read the above post to see where they left off... Sad to say the old quote system worked well i believe with the backroubnd colour, so maybe if that could be implemented (if possible) it would be great. Other wise if we just left a __________________ or===== or+++ at the end of the quote, i believe it would solve the problem.

  3. In the 1800's when everybody wanted straight topand bowlers hats, the hat makers used to rub in mercury to keep the hat straight, although that had adverse affects on the hat makers. IT's ok to use lead (i use it for soldering, and used to use it for shooting) as long as after you wash your hands and don't allow it to get into your bloodstream. Lead poisoning won't cause you to die, straight away, although it will have effects on learning, and if exposed to much, will cause you to go crazy......(correct me if im wrong)

  4. One of the biggest issues I have with this idea is when you think about making saw

just think a saw could be created with a piece of sheet metal that has had triangles punched out slowly with a hammer and punch......then finally sharpened on the side, not the tip

  5. I love the idea, although i think it would have to have a completely differt skin to mkae it stand out from everything else....If this was to go ahead, there would have to be many different varients as some people would like marble kitchen tops etc....

I think that should be the first meal table. There should be an advanced table with more slots that can make the more potent effects instead of any old meal table making a 4 power meal

Yeah good, although how would we make it more advanced?

  6. Actually now that i think about it this could actually work, although it shouldn't just happen for trees, but also cobble, stone etc, although the damage would have to be very very small and not too groundbreaking, that if you get into a sticky situation, you can dig your serlf out...

  7. My suggestion is a simple one. Something thats always bugged me is the fact that you punch a tree, while in vanilla minecraft its ok because its not supposed to be real, I think punching a tree should hurt you, maybe make using an axe temporarily more difficult by making it longer to cut a tree down.

omg are you serious? Well on a serious note, this is the case, you cannot destroy trees with your hands, instead the only way to do it is with a hoe.. :)

  8. You can't do that with a log IRL, no matter how good you are. Axe is suitable to make firewood, not planks.

true but you have to start some where... i could split wood into strips, and build a very dodgy deck/floor although it would be very very dodgy....if we really wanted to start to get into how planks would be cut we would have to get into saw wills or a hand saw.

  9. Liking your own post hai???

It's alright, but your right it would probably stop suicide, although as suggested it could crash servers, but most importantly, what would happen to the new players on a server that go out die and then quit the game????? you would have to have dedicated body removal personal (like during the plague) just to keep some of the areas clean. It could work on single player, and possible small servers with dedicated people.

  10. This is a neat idea. It is NOT an idea that needs to be in TFC, but would instead probably work better as a mod that could be applied to Minecraft no matter how you play. It would change the act of breaking blocks to more involve the skill of the player.

It could also get fantastically annoying. Sand is and should be easy to scoop up. I like being able to hold down the button and get more than one block. Imagine playing MC with a diamond shovel and having to click as fast as possible to keep up with the unmodded speed. Maybe this would be better applied to only certain items. Maybe you have to manually whack a tree with axes made with certain materials, but not with better metals.

There are a lot of things for which this probably isn't appropriate. I can't imagine needing to pull back my hand to whack a bunch of torches, for instance.

If this mod were made it would need to retain block damage data, much like how the Multimine mod works. Check that out if you haven't yet.

Thats what i was trying to get at. Making it on selected tools would be the way to go. The same would go with removing dirt, i dont want to be spending an extra couple of hours, just because of an animation difference. Although this would be wonderful for chopping down trees and mining. My only fear is that after a while it could become boring and rather irritating. Hoes could even be included in this, and would look very well.

  11. Im just abit confused with all of this. I get the main ideas, but the little nitty stuff just flies over my head, so ill explain my ideas. Correct me if im wrong or if it has already been suggested. Posted Image

Anyway when eggs are layed in the nest, they would all be the same. Eggs would then have a chance to change to either unfertilized, unfertilized, or spoilt. This change would happen while the eggs are in the nests. All the data the eggs would need would be stored in the nests.Fertilized would develop while in the nests, and if the conditions are right. up intill this point, the eggs have no metadata. When you take eggs out of the nests, this is when they are give the metadata, which would either be unfertilized/eatable or spolit. When fertilized eggs are take out of the nest, and if they havn't hatched, or mature enough they would turn into spolit eggs. This would be because you can eat them, and by making them spolit you are saving inventory space.

On nests- personally i think nests should be around in a couple of different ways. the first way as suggested would be a stick/wheat combination that would both spawn in the world and be craftable. (it would get rid of your sticks!!!) It would be able to be destroy by other animals, yourself, and weather. It would have a lower chance of fertilized becomeing mature enough to survive, although it would have a higher chance of unfertilized eggs becoming spolit.

The second nest would be player craftable, and would be much like suggested. IT would be a box, that would keep the chickens warm and would offer more comfort. IT would not be destroyed by being stood on, and would not be affected by weather. It would have a higher chance of fertilized maturing and a lower chance of unfertilized eggs becoming spolit. It would need to be restocked with crops/sticks reguarly.

Note: can i just say that fertilized eggs should only become fertilized if there is a rooster around. (correct me if this was already said)

I would also like to see the implementation of a feeder. It would be a simple device that could be placed in a pen and would store food for animals. when an animal is hunagry, they would go over to the feeder, and eat a unit of feed that is in the feeder. (i know i don't stand around all day feeding my chickens when they get hungary). This idea could also be applied to other animals, although would have to be larger, and would be like a trough.

Lastly, my idea would be by products. After a period of time the hay/sticks inside a nestiong box would become old, worn out, and covered in manure. Thsi would need to be removed and replaced. This would be able to be placed around plants or placed on the ground to recover, produce richer soil. spolit eggs would need to be destroyed, as there is nothing for them to be used for, except for poison, or cures of dissease.

Sorry if i went a little off topic, or if it doesn't make sence.

  12. This idea could stop theose spamming hits that always kill me and everyone wants to get rid of. My only fear is that it could slow down some particular parts of the game, specifically shovels (no good toi make it even slower then it already is, try removing a huge area....im still going on my project).

weapons to me would be the most important part. Having a dagger be able to strike softly, but very quick would even out battle, and would stop people from just having the most powerful weapon. It would cause people to choosen between being all mighty power ful but slow, or being quick and nimble but weak....i think if implemented properly it would work fantastic

  13. Snow shoes are shoes. They have durability. Get hit and they lose durability. If you're suggesting I'd be willing to sacrifice leather boots for something that wears out every time I go into my house unless I open my inventory, take off the snow shoes, and put on a second pair of shoes I carry around for when I'm not on snow, then I think you're simply sacrificing one annoyance for another. Why even add snow shoes if that's the case?

Concerning your chiseled snow idea: Snow isn't hard to harvest, in real life or in MC. Really packed snow (which is not what a snow block is supposed to represent) can easily be cut with something like a stone axe. A chisel is not a harvesting tool. However, I totally agree that it would look cool. Maybe snow blocks that you craft are simply a different item than the ones in vanilla MC and they look like bricks. Better still, I don't really like how easy it is to get snow. I'm going to add an idea to the first post: point #7. Please take a look and tell me what you think.

yeah i like # 7. exactly the sort of thing i was trying to put across. maybe the snow bricks would still look like snow, but would have more of a glassy look?

In regards to the snow shoes, i get what you mean by it being a nusence but i think that would actually be a good thing, as it would make people think about how to manage their inventory.

  14. A great addition to TFC would be the addition of lobster traps. Maybe make it with a metal ingot, surrounded by wool thread. The duration of the trap decreases with each use. A better ingot = higher uses. One lobster = 5 uses? The trap would have the capability to catch lobster and would take the same amount of time to catch one as it would take to catch a fish were you continually fishing. The trap would have to be set in water > 10 blocks deep and must be accessible from all sides. A raw fish plus a water bucket would be the formula for chum or bait. This would need to be added to the trap for the trap to be activated (you get an empty bucket back). Multiple traps can be set, but will have to be checked frequently, else one breaks and the lobster are lost.

So you are also suggesting to add lobsters with that suggestion as well Im guessing? Spear fishing could be added to that, and if fish are going in the direction that has been suggested that in my opinion would be a great way to fish.

as stated in another post, squid could be redone, so that when killed would drop calamari.

I think fish traps in general would be a good idea. You would build them out of a range of different materials (depending on durability) and there would need to be different types of traps, some catch lobsters, other fish, some are more durable, but catch less fish ect. the durability could work on how you suggested, or like how axes work. IF you catch 10 lobsters but your durability is low, you would only be able to pull up the ones with enough durability, while the other one would be lost.

  15. Great ideas. Snow shoes should have a durability as well though, because i can't imagine your tennis raquett shoes would be the best when used against sticks and dirt. Maybe if used on anything other then snow you should walk slower, to simulate you getting your feet stuck in twigs and the alike on the ground.

While on the topic of snow, why not make it possible to cut and craft snow bricks, so that your igloos would look alot better. Im not usre if it would have any benefits over normal snow but i believe it would look alot better.

2nd suggestion- Why not make the snow blocks (or snow brick blocks if implemented) able to be chiesled. Some great statues can be crafted out of snow chiesling, and although it wouldn't really beneift anthing it would definatly be a cool thing to be able to craft your own statues out of ice/snow instead of wood or stone.

P.s sorry for going off topic :)

  16. With animal power i suggest a tool similar to the hoe but for livestock, which could have different 'modes' to detect hunger, fatigue or thirst of animals under work so that the player may swap the animal out for another animal to rest, or feed it and water it, there could be a bridle tool as well used to guide animals and attach them to machines.

For power in general i disagree with power as energy, perhaps instead 'momentum' transfered through a system of belts and gears to querns, rock-breakers or wells as suggested by spitfire. I hear people complaining about how easy it is to get food, and this mechanic may be the answer to putting a strain on the agriculture aspect of the game.

Perhaps Windmills could come later as the sails would need serious work irl, perhaps they could be woven by donkey powered looms and the wood worked from lumber in a donkey powered sawmills

i'm not too sure what animals would be good to implement, i recall reading that horses from vanilla would be integrated into tfc in the future, but cows would easily suffice, perhaps specially bred working cattle making energy production a little trickier than finding an animal and putting it into your machine.

i'm sorry, but it's rather difficult to till a cow. they don't really appreciate it very much

:P referring to the mode mechanic not the actual act of tilling a cow...

I understand, how the hoe would work.. Pretty much it would be a tool that would function much in the way of the hoe, in the way that you would be able to switch modes. It would be able to attach a horse, donkey, cow, bull ect onto the axle. It could also be use to lesh horses and direct them, although i think this is being implement by dunk with horses anyway?

  17. Good idea, i like it, although it has been suggested many times throughout the history of this forum. This is a rather newish post that has the same idea as your idea....http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/26-early-power-systems/

It may be a good idea to add your ideasand reasons why this should be implemented to that post so that it is alll under the same 'roof'. I like your idea very much though (so much that im actually writing up my own explination (very large) on how the sytems would work, benifits ect).

The only problem with this idea, is as you stated, it can be used to make it easier in a substantial way, although i believe with enough negatives against the mills it could be implemented...:)

  18. [spolier]

I recently set out to find a better settlement. I'm sure I could have found some ore by using a sluice, but that requires wood and takes at least as long as relocating. Being on a couple of small islands in the ocean is a fun limitation where the weather is nice, but it's prohibitively difficult in the arctic. First, I made a trip to warmer lands to collect seeds and more saplings.

To the northwest I found a rather large landmass and settled in a shallow lake. I again dug myself a hole, relying on the ice to form my roof. I don't know why I didn't expect it, but even the arctic has warm summers where the ice thaws. I thought it was kind of neat to swim through my roof, and thought about calling myself Meatbob Squarepants, but then at night the temperature dropped. When the ice formed, it updated the water blocks, which then flooded my home. So this works fine in the winter but not at all in the summer.

I soon got some crops planted. This had me very excited for the future, so I planted the saplings as well. Hopefully the warm winter months can supply me with all the wheat and wood I need for the year.

I found some surface ores in quite a few places and have plans to start mining as soon as I have the pick. However, this landmass seems to have no peat so I might not be able to smelt more than one ingot with my remaining wood.

The temperature fluctuations seem to be too great for my crops. Everything planted has uprooted itself. I retain the seeds, but I don't know if they will ever have a long enough period of warm weather in order to grow fully. After a week my saplings remain ungrown.

Good news however! I have found two plum trees on the island and now have three bushes growing nicely near my snow house at the lake. These can supplement my fishing and egg collecting with food that doesn't need to be cooked. I'm surprised they grow without hesitation when a fir tree seems unable to take root.

In this expedition I'm comparing the life I'm able to live with that of real people who have settled in arctic climates. One thing is certain: the game is not meant to be played like this. There is no possibility of replacing the numbers of animals I hunt for food and hides. The bones of creatures cannot be harvested to make tools or for building structures. Driftwood does not exist. Animal fat cannot be harvested for fuel. Temperatures seem to be tied only to biome and elevation, so an enclosed space like a valley or a deep cave is just as cold as the open ice. Archery is totally non-viable due to the finite supply of feathers (you can't ever breed chickens without crops). Fishing requires a huge real estate commitment rather than being possible through a hole in the ice. So aside from collecting snow and bragging rights, the arctic seems like it's simply there to make you wish you were somewhere else.

    [/spolier]

Is it really worth going to the artic. If no i think some things need to be changed about the artic. I belive dunk or Bioxx have mentioned that there will be animals in the artic, but for me that is not quite enough. Going to the artic must have a few benifits, for example maybe you yeild more ore, or ore deposits are more common. This would then give areason to go to the artic, other then to just live in a different climate. Besides all that, i think it's a great idea that youve tried to live in this way, and i think this sort of play could be implemented into the game as well, for example you go to the jungle and you live like the mayans or you go into the artic and live like the eskimos....

  19. which links exactly? Because all of the enjin ones are workings fine.

they are working fine now, although at the time of my post it was these links that wern't working

Enjin (Apply for Whitelist here: http://kopgw2.enjin.com/recruitment )

TT's TFC Server Custom Recipes: http://kopgw2.enjin.com/tfcrecipes

When i went into them it would go to the website, although i couldn't view any of your conflict, as your web host had locked your site down.

  20. It's nearly impossible to tell you're not a native english speaker at times
well, besides my typing, my main advantage lies in my pronouncation, which is equal to my typing, and thats a very rare thing in the Netherlands (at my age at least, and far beyond it, the accent comes in, whereas i can randomly fit a british/american/australian accent onto it (the natives from those country cant decide where i'm from, muricans call me british, british call me murican, and australians call me australian XD)
You dutch are amasing. When i went over there to see some people i couldn't believe at the rate and amount of languages that the kids in schools were learning. But i guess that comes naturally, as you guys are the (traders of old time) and must know a lot of languges to be able to communicate with all your people..

  21. maybe from a server or a pokemon or so :D/> anyway, on the point of magic, im a great fan of the mechanic behind the Death Gate series: where there is a so-called Wave of Balance controlling magic, so the more you use magic, the more powerful your enemies would become (when translated to TFC) and vice-versa, so eventually you'd be facing tons and tons of mobs all being really powerful while you're doing your magic thing, but if you want to be peaceful, you have to avoid magic. (now, this shouldnt be a server wide issue, or magic should be very high tier to achieve, to prevent noobs spawning and spamming magic in order to upset the Wave)

It could work, although think about how hard it would be for new people on a server, to kill a skellie that has been effected by this wave thing. I think magic should only be added if it's a high end thing, and has consequences of use. This idea would stop you using magic all the time (you would probably only want to use it at the most dangerous times) would stop new players being effected by all powerful skellies (your idea killster, no offence that im taking a hit at it), and would make you think if it was really worth using it (do i really want to drop to 1 health to kill these 4 skellies?-for example).

  22. Since your bed ideas are pretty similar to the ones I've already posted you could try talking about bed options here:

    http://terrafirmacra...primitive-beds/

You know, avoiding clutter and all.

^^ Hey Bihlbo, sorry, normally I do check for posts like this. These were really just some ideas that I had that didn't really "fit" with my Early Game Overhaul suggestion. I don't get the vibe that you are mad at me though.

I don't think he was having a go at you, just suggesting that bed talk could be talked about under his thread, as it is dedicated to beds, as well as to keep all the bed talk under one thread to keep it all nice a neat :D
