      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. DLP, the problem is that mobs track players from what seems to be a hundred blocks away, and when you have multiple players in one place the chances of mobs within a geometric [even volumetric] region, it gets crazy.

The sad thing, no one really does anything about walling the place off, closing doors, or just plain light the place up.

Other than that, have fun in OddWorld, and i hope I can find my place iin it some day :/

  2. chain male armmor i thought was a good agenst crushing/horrable agenst percing damages.(a warhammer/battleaxe/2h sword would not be abble to do much but a dagger/spear/arrows would get to flesh and bone easyer) also how hard would it be to implment the tools to have some kind of damange? i want to ba abble to easely kill monsters with a pickaxe/hatchet/chisle

Chainmaille is pretty much the closest thing you can get to metal cloth [set aside extruding ductile medals] so blunt damage, damage done by things like hammers, not a good thing with chainmaille, slashing clawing goring yes, piercing, depends on the medal, and how you close the ring [i think welding, and riveting are the best methods, then twisting and just bending it into place.

Another interesting thing about chainmaille is that there are so many ways to make it, it's crazy, dozens of ways to make chains [persian, and things], or weaves [combining chains, or adding onto chains, or build upon a basic weave], that it gets to be too much. [so we need to be basic in what we want]

Scale and Lamellar armor are more advanced forms of chainmaille [pretty much scaled chains, and plates affixed on/over chainmaille] which give give you better protection as you go along. [scale < Lamellar]

[Not going to talk about Splint Armor or Plate Maille]

Anyways there are many ways to make chains.

Usually you go about it by extruding a wire from metal in a press, or string it through a wire file.

Then you bend the wire into a uniform coil, and cut rings out of the coil. [by Saw or clipping them]

After that you simply bend the rings so that you can connect them.

And finally you need to affix the rings by some means [welding, tying them off] or not at all [bending them, or doubling them over]

This gets more complicated when you bring scales or lamellar plates into the equation since you have to apply the scales/plates uniformly on a base.

  3. For punching holes in leather you can use a needle and hammer, or a straight up hole puncher.

When it comes to chainmaille, you have to make hundreds if not thousands of rings to make a bona fide European suit of chainmaille, in addition to that, chainmaille is quite durable, but it is lacking when against impact weapons, like hammer and explosions, but not necessarily punches, and arrows.

Other than that, there are a few more armor types that may be interesting.

Scale [scaled rings], Lamellar [Multiple rectangular plates making an armor, think brigandine, but with scale armor, and the plates on the outside], and Laminar [long horizontal plates constituting the armor pieces].

[The again lamellar > brigandine since it relies on metal chains to be held together, and brigandine is leather with metal plates sewn onto the interior, the latter won't last as well]

Considerably, the heavier the plate the less blunt damage you'd take, but it main issue is a good piercing hit [arrows, or sword thrust] could pierce it, while Lamellar and brigandine would be able to resist it.

  4. News [in the village 2ward, along the 3ward coast from spawn]

    • Messhall created [Contains Several Dozen Chests of which are small amounts of fish a few fishing rods, and maple wood, in addition to several firepits.
    • Thirds Kiln made [kilns repositioned, and expanded to maximum form]
    • Kiln Stockpile established [Please use woods other than maple, oak, or hickory for kilns, and please try to completely fill a kiln before usage. Other than that, make sure to move incomplete stacks to the next chest if the one currently being inhabited is nearly filled]
    • Charcoal [Enough to smelt everything inefficiently, and cook individual items as ineffeciently forever]
    • Housing [Adequate I guess, the main bunkhouse has too many sticks stocked]
    • Metallurgy [There are several forges, anvils, and bloomeries, I think there's enough of them. When it comes to ores/metals, we have tin and bismuth.]
    • We need food [use the fishing rods in the messhall, we need the fish]
    • Lighting [it is a huge problem, expect a lot of player deaths on the edge of village, and a lot of explosions in or near the village]

Read and agree to server rules? Yes indeed.

What do you want to do on the server?:I am willing to do anything, although I excell at building, I've also gotten pretty good at smithing and using the prospectors pick. There's a huge problem with anvils retaining the rules of the previous items, like getting tin saw rules when making tin ingots

  6. Questions for you,

Do you play? I've been on 3 servers so far and not a single owner actually played. This makes it impossible to do anything when there are problems. I'd prefer to be on a server where the owner actually played once in a while. He's a great guy, currently he doesn't do much, but when it comes to communal systems, he's not too hard on his personal property.

Also, aren't supports still bugged? Only horizontal ones, they don't appear graphically, when placed, per se

    Tentative application:

What do you want to do on the server?: I like designing buildings and hoarding materials on my own, though with something like this I may have to change my strategy. My kinda person, partner up?

Rogue Hydra, same with you, join?

  7. YOu'll prolly have to make the secondary output slot a sort of secondary input too, you need bottles or something to collect the water from the snow blocks.

    [ball ==> Bottles?]

    [blocks ==> Buckets?]

  8. I'd prefer there to still be a heavy emphasis on bartering, currency is hard to set up in a server of three villages, and 20 people, since the prices would take quite a while to set up.

But if there is a sort of currency, I'd want it to actually be useful set aside its generic usage as an unstable [or floating] banknote.

[so that it has an actual value]

  9. Another suggestion would be to have spackle, and mortar to accelerate the 'regenerative' process, but I'd like to have that 'crafting delay thing' applied to it so that you have to charge up the mortar/spackle like a bow [or a chisel in the sonoma mod, or the bone bow from Thaumcraft 2]

  10. hmm interesting, i never thought about the idea of crop rotation, that could be a VERY interesting addition to the agriculture in TFC

Back in the old wiki [link], there was a suggestion section.

It talked about a system that tracked several things, i think it was four basic nutrients, like phosphorus, nitrogen, calcium, and how certain crops can drain the soul of some nutrients but increase other nutrients.

I forgot the exact specifications but there is a topic [link] in this forums about composting, and compost. [Which also speculates about an added element of accelerated growth, and a reference or two to terra preta]

And the last thing was a reference [i think by me] in yet another thread [link] about adding another prerequisite 'age' before stone, but talked about incentivizing cultivating a small farm [for leather, and food] before going off and mining for metallurgy]. [And i think a tangent about what a sphepard's crook's functionality]

  11. Welp, the village is far from spawn [roughly two thousand blocks], we need to move our massive tree farm from the desert [we are losing saplings, and soil to degradation], and we are building an ineffective wall of cacti [it's slow to grow, and we haven't lit the area that is walled off by the cacti].

    Kiln is half finished

Everyone is dying pretty often [desert full of laggy mobs, all of them are too often, and too much]

Food is a problem, so we've gone into fishing.

Seems like we are on the brink of hitting lesser metal tier. [someone has a chisel]

  12. I'd prefer something more like Adventure Craft in which you can access all items in your hotbar immediately with both hands, without needing extraneous menus.

It did this by using two selectors on the hotbar, and giving you the ability to toggle between which you scroll/select with by pressing a button like ctrl, or f.

And when it comes to using two-handed correctly [like a tool, or a bow], when you went to actually use the item, you'd lose functionality of the other hand. Using the bow in the right hand would make you left hand deselect its item, and use the bow, but after using the bow, the item in the left hand is pulled out again.
