      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. My first night QUESTIONS

Back in my day we didn't even have straw! Had to go up hill (both ways of course) barefoot in the snow to get food. Anyway....I just went back to doing what I did before for my first few nights, 1 layer of dirt and log piles on top for walls. To deal with spiders I'd place one row of logs down the middle as a roof. Simple and easy enough to take down until I found a place to settle. Though as Kitty suggested digging under a boulder or into clay makes for a great first shelter.
  2. No, the only time I had a crash was when I had an up to date install of shaders and Fastcraft 1.9. Which was solved by removing shaders since I can't actually play MC with them and only use them for screenshots.
  3. I have it and it makes a world of difference. Least for me it is quite noticeable when I don't have fastcraft.
  4. [Solved] Slime Spawning Conditions

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening! So did some quick re-read of an old slime chuck farming thread and yeah they are as evil to get as I remember. lol (Least it's not the old height of Y16 or lower, right?) Aside from having to dig down to bedrock and create some spawning platforms you'll also want to light up any nearby caves. Skellies, zombies and creepers of course have the higher chance to spawn and with how rare slime spawns are you are more likely have those spawning in near by caves vs slimes on your platforms. Don't forget like all hostile mobs they can't spawn within 25 blocks of you so once you are set up you'll need to move away and let it happen. I know you have a plan B now (Which is probably easier, lol) but in case you feel like giving it another go for precious slime balls, more info! Edit: Did some checking (Creative); dug down; cleared and area; light up nearby caves(ish). I've not had any slimes spawn in the 'slime chunk' I cleared but I did have 2 spawn in a nearby ravine at around the Y22 mark.
  5. [Solved] Slime Spawning Conditions

It's been so long I don't remember what changes happened when, either way good luck to you on your hunt! Least we know from Kitty that they do for sure spawn in b79.
  6. [Solved] Slime Spawning Conditions

Yeah, I've never seen one and if it follows the old MC slime spawn rules that would explain why. (Mining is scary.) I did jump to the conclusion they don't spawn since they aren't on the wiki either. Thanks for the info Kitty. To Bunsan: are you at Y39 or lower? I'm pretty sure that was the old max height.
  7. [Solved] Slime Spawning Conditions

I know the wiki is still playing catch up but I'm pretty sure slimes are not a naturally spawning mob in TFC. wiki:Mobs. Under hostile mobs they are not listed. Edit: Wording to be more clear.
  8. Vegetation

Huh, the more you know. Didn't realize he took a stab at it and yeah if it makes the ui icky better to leave well enough alone. As for the topic I agree they are easy to spot from a distance but I think that's more due to the fact they tend to jump out given their variation of colours vs the standard green grass. Though with the addition of flowers I've certainly been fooled a few times but hey great for prettying up a house. I think the amount that spawns is random, I've found 10+ rye then only 1 wheat out in the wild. Unless you mean the actual models should be bigger?
  9. Vegetation

The mB always brought to mind a milibar for me which just confused me more. Though I too just now found out about FTB mB. lol So you're not alone Hubertus. Also Reyvinn taught me something in this thread which is cool. The time I spend on a farm was tending to and grooming horses. Also Woo~ high-five for themetric system.
  10. Are apples the new sugar cane?

Math is from the wiki going by the minimum oz to create a full barrel of alcohol. *That sounds like a bug. I've got barrels of vodka/beer/corn whiskey/cider and soon I'll be adding rye whiskey and sake to the stash. Hoping to have enough sugarcane to make rum after this years harvest.
  11. Are apples the new sugar cane?

It's 50oz to get 5oz of sugar (See wiki: Barrel) for a total of 400oz sugarcane to get enough sugar for a full barrel of rum. Since both are a luxury I personally don't have a problem with the amount of work/effort/time it takes to get it.
  12. [Solved] Sugarcane seeds won't sow

This the thread you had in mind? Surgar cane growth in the cold
  13. What pages should be updated first?

You are a wiki hero Kitty. The food page looks fantastic I'm sure there is a huge thank you from everyone floating around on the board waiting to smack you upside the head. Also a thank you to everyone who is helping out with the wiki. I'm sure we've all at some point being working on something then moments in gotten distracted by something else.
  14. Just came by to say thank you.
  15. Ranged weapons vs. Skeletons

That sounds incredible overpowered. Any item that guarantees no damage is OP in any game. Even a seemingly simple stun mechanic can be very powerful in a game and can potential completely break combat removing any and all danger from mobs.
  16. Torch Poll

I would be one of them. Also now that I have some time logged in my game I am using a mix; Torches in none vital areas and pumpkins and/or lanterns in areas where I really don't want a creeper sneaking up on me.
  17. Hehe yeah that'll happen Fiz, as it should. The range is 3x3x6, munin gives a great example in this thread. Aw GAWD!! Why this keep happening to meeeeeeeeeeee???
  18. So that's super cool and fascinating also I second the creepy factor.
  19. Request for Assistance With Builder's Block

Hahaha! I love it! Man, that wall. lol Although I do think what you did with the pumpkin light is fantastic. Like Kitty said it is really quite retro.
  20. Request for Assistance With Builder's Block

Kitty pretty much hit a the nail on the head with the advice about figuring out a colour palette before you even begin. I think building up against the hill is a great idea, you lucked out a little with the hickory. I think it's a great material since it goes with most anything, same goes for the white cedar. I do tend to hop into a creative world when working out a build (Unless it's a starter box then pfffttt.) Depending how elaborate you want to be I find there is nothing wrong with a little pre-planning. (Cause it came up) Side Note: Poor white elm and willow getting no love, ever. Totally decided last week after watching another Let's Play where white elm gets some hate on to build my main big house outta it with a willow roof. It'll be tops! Well least I think so.
  21. Squid and Calamari

I know I killed squid in the early days of my world but I can't remember if they all dropped calamari or not I feel like they did (0.01oz). Over on reddit Kitty also posted a thread asking the community what wiki pages we'd like to see updated and she said after the food page she'll be doing the skills page. So that'll be fantastic since you are certainly not the first to ask about this kinda of thing (eg. meat explosions)
  22. Squid and Calamari

Well if something that should be happening in your game is not happening that would be a bug. However the new skill system specifically the butchery skill is tied to how much meat drops from any animal you kill. So if your skill is low very little meat will drop and squid drop very little meat to begin with. Fishing is a great way to level the butchery skill. I just hopped into my world and killed a squid who dropped both calamari (0.03oz) and an ink sack, my butcher skill is at adept (The 2nd level).
  23. What pages should be updated first?

Wow, Munin has a lot of great suggestions. Having read the ribbit* page after food and skills I don't think you could go wrong with the loom and/or sluice. I'm assuming the grill and smoke rack will fall under the food category? If not I'm totally bundling them with the loom/sluice too. Again just trying to think of things that would be most helpful to a new player. Although the large ceramic vessel is probably more important early game than the grill. *Reddit
  24. What pages should be updated first?

I'll admit I do not check any ones twitter, so my bad (I'm a horrible person) so this post is helpful for me to help you to help everyone. Now on to the topic I do not envy you this task there is so much awesome that happened in this update hard to pick one topic/page over another. Food a good one but I think I'd vote for the skills page. Basically trying to look at it from the view point of a new player, who I'm hoping can figure out how to eat/create meals based on whats there. They might not understand why taste matters or what to aim for when making a meal. VS the skills page which really has very little to no information.
  25. Oh, now I've learned something new and shiny, awesome. Yeah, I really wasn't 100% sure on the 2x2 since it was so many worlds ago, thus the "pretty sure." Thanks for the clear up. Good to know it applies to all saplings too.
