      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Possible Amazing future mod combo

    They did:
  2. Can't make clay molds

Could be a problem with MagicLauncher. The recipe didn't change, at least no such change is listed in the change log.
  3. Game going easy on me for once! :D Build48

Hardcore mode, I suspect. It's the same as survival except permanently set on hard difficulty, and upon death you can't respawn and must delete the world. You might be able to get the world back via hacking, but otherwise, it's gone for good.
  4. Anvils are crafted in the crafting table using 2x Ingots; the stone anvil is an exception, it is created by using a hammer on the top of a raw stone block.
  5. A Question of Motivation Relating to Trade

IIRC a 100×100×60 radius, centred at the taller half of the sluice block. It's entirely possible that there was a giant Zinc vein just slightly left of that humongous crater, hidden by a rock. Unless I'm missing something, finding ore is a matter of determining it exists via sluices, getting enough for a pickaxe and than digging randomly and hoping you find something before the pickaxe breaks. A propick certainly helps, but not enough.
  6. Huge Mountains

There's a mountain range close to the spawn if you use "i", sans quotes, as a seed. I think it reached up to ~240, and IIRC water level is around 141. As for adding higher mountains, I think changing world generation so that existing mountains will be steeper will be sufficient. I THINK there's a good example of a steep and less steep mountain close to each other in the above seed, but I'd have to check and it's late here.
  7. The TFC Wiki and Minerals/Ores

This topic has a list. No screenshots though.
  8. Stone Pickaxes? How Do I make em?

Here. "Removed Stone Pickaxes. Besides the fact that they are incredibly unrealistic, they devalued metal picks and allowed players to progress far faster than is intended. The new changes mentioned in the new features should allow players to have a far easier time finding metal to begin with, not to mention the added realism. Many stone tools were made in history. Stone picks are basically nonexistent. This WILL make the early game more difficult, I am aware. The types of early building options will undoubtedly be limited for a while until more early building materials are added."
  9. Complete Noob Questions

You need a bloomery or a firepit to smelt ore, but you can heat up and (re-)smelt metal ingots or unshaped metal in the forge. You cannot smelt ore in the forge, ore simply can't be placed in the forge
  10. Complete Noob Questions

IIRC you do actually need a mold in the forge, in one of the 4 spaces right of the actual heating part of the interface, otherwise metal bars that melt will be wasted. Although molds in that part of the forge aren't actually consumed when melting bars, so you end up only needing one.Correct me if that's wrong.
  11. Complete Noob Questions

The Spotter's guide noted that Andesite bricks are immune, so I assume the same is true for the other Igneous Extrusive stones; Basalt, Dacite and Rhyolite. Gabbro and Granite (and Diorite) are Igneous Intrusive, so I'm not sure wether they, too, are immune.
  12. Complete Noob Questions

1: That shouldn't happen, and I've never experienced that bug before, with one exception. If you're talking about Willow trees, it's a known bug and there's nothing to be done about it other than placing some dirt and chopping the rogue bit of log the hard way. Otherwise, try reinstalling.2: Ore generation changed drastically since that Spotter's Guide video, so you can safely ignore what the video said in terms of ore generation. Presently starter ores like Zinc and Bismuth can spawn close to the surface in small pockets (use a prospector's pick to maybe find some), other ores can be found deeper underground, although where exactly I don't know. From my experience it's best sacrifice however many heads of cattle you can spare to Eurmal and hope you'll randomly stumble upon a vein of ore as you hopelessly run around like a headless chicken while being sniped by skeletons and dive-bombed by creepers. Good news is that if you find a vein, it's likely to be a large vein with lots of ore. 3: Metals within the same tier aren't exactly the same, but it's a minor difference you really don't need to worry about. 4: Exact details can't be given per the wishes of Bioxx, and I can't really guess either since I never used iron for anything other than Redstone and Diamond ore mining, and I only used a diamond for obsidian mining. Each tier is a notable improvement over the previous tier though, so it is worth looking for new, better ores. 5: Obsidian does still exist, although I don't remember it ever being "invulnerable". If by that you mean "immune to creeper explosions", I think certain stone bricks in TFC are also immune to creeper explosions, but not TNT. As for mining it, I don't know if it's possible even with Red/Blue Steel, since I've never tried it. Due to the finite water mechanics and the very low height at which most lava spawns, it's very difficult to get obsidian to spawn in a place where it can be safely mined. 6: I remember being able to mine Hematite, Iron ore, with a stone pickaxe in previous versions, and there's been no change on the change list, so I presume it hasn't changed. FYI, iron is the highest metal you can find as ore, and stone is a lowest tier pickaxe you can make.
  13. Some Questions about Smithing.

In order: I'm pretty sure both don't; the hammer at least doesn't. No. It might be possible that a two different metal tools get assigned the same end-point and rules, but that's unlikely. Not to my knowledge. No, but it can change on a different map or after updating to a new mod version. It's not, hence why that didn't work. I presume it's possible that patterns between maps and versions can, randomly, be the same, but the "find prefect pattern in creative and use that in survival" trick doesn't work.Lastly: I don't remember where I heard it, so don't quote me on it, but I remember Bioxx posting that if you want to master smithing by means of practicing until you get a feel for how to properly align the green and red points with the assigned rules, that's fine. Likewise, if you want to figure out the smithing process by breaking into the game's code and learning it that way, that's also fine, although he doesn't want people to post exact information from the game; doing so would ruin it for whoever doesn't want to play the math game, since once you see the numbers, you can't un-see them.
  14. Bone Meal

    Yes, no and no respectively.
  15. Bone Meal

I think it can still be used to dye colored sheep and wool white, as well as being usable to mix with a few other dyes to create some other dye color. Other than that, it serves no purpose.
