      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. WTF welcoming party

If you fight them, *you* make them all come at you. So don't unless you can handle it. Pick your fights better.
  2. Zombie Issues...

That is the same as taking them out entirely The speed makes sense, they already don't spawn in daylight, and in vanilla they already do less damage than regular zombies, which does make sense to balance the increased speed/smaller hitbox. There aren't more zombies, they just come at you *if you attack one* from about as far as the normal render distance or even farther. So... don't attack them, is the point, unless you're prepared to deal with them all coming.
  3. Some kind of long term goal when playing TFC?

Zombies in 1.6.2 are actually already much smarter. When you hit one they'll all come running from far away (further than the Tiny render distance, I think). So no more casually lighting up an area and calling it good; stay outside and you will have to fight a dozen zombies if you don't fence your stuff off. Of course the AI for all mobs has increased to the point where they will get you if there is a way, even if it requires walking away from your first.
  4. Don't bee like buildcraft

I feel like the crossbreeding of bees (or more likely other animals), crops and trees with traits and such would really make sense in the context of the mod and offer long term goals for farming. It's the first thing I thought of when I saw all the different crops and trees; the buildcraft system. Vanilla horse breeding already has some mechanics that seem similar (they have jumping height, speed and health traits that matter in the breeding).
  5. No rain in any worlds and mob problems

About the mobs, it's normal for mobs to spawn in the dark. And when it rains, it's dark enough for stuff to spawn depending on the area (under trees and such). Also mobs won't burn. These are normal vanilla mechanics. Are your particles turned off? I don't remember if that only removed sound and droplets or also the actual visual representation of rainfall.
  6. I've found a 2x2 tree in an ocean biome that is just hovering over the top water layer in a shallow area surrounded by deeper waters. It may have spawned on top of a floating dirt island that has since, before my visit, collapsed to under the water, but if not something is broken. I can upload a screenshot if needed. I've not found any regular trees like this. (If possible I'd say make dirt in a 3x3 area surrounding a tree, or 4x4 in case of a 2x2 tree, not affected by gravity due to the tree roots, this would fix this problem and also make perfect sense, analogous to dirt with grass on it not falling down instantly.)
  7. Cant Shape Ingots

*almost* all the temperatures. Bismuth has a very low workable temperature. Did you try Hot*** or Hot****?
  8. Uranium

Oh lol that's not what I meant, I said minecraft instead of tfcraft and corrected that . But by that time you'd already posted.
  9. Uranium

Those pictures show me the results of an explosion. Do you have an alternate explanation? I think the problem is you don't know what an explosion is. An explosion is a rapid expansion of gas (or other matter forms) and energy. That's definitely what an atomic bomb is. Whether or not it creates a crater is irrelevant, suffice to say even extremely explosive explosions *several hundred feet above the earth's surface* (like the ones we're talking about here) can't possibly create a huge crater without impact material. It's arguable that it doesn't fit in tfcraft, yeah. It would make more sense to be able to use it in a reactor, but that is a little hightech. It doesn't really add to the believability, it sooner subtracts from it. EDIT: minor derp. Also, Wikipedia is a reliable source for most subjects which are very well-known, popular and historical and/or scientific in nature, since these pages are actively monitored and there are many reliable sources to cite.
  10. Uranium

... Really? It's very peculiar Hiroshima didn't blow up, since a pilot dropped a bomb on it that created an explosion equivalent to what 16.000 *tons* of TNT would cause. I call that "blown up". To quote Wikipedia, of course: "The radius of total destruction was about one mile (1.6km), with resulting fires across 4.4 square miles (11km2).[85] Americans estimated that 4.7 square miles (12km2) of the city were destroyed. Japanese officials determined that 69% of Hiroshima's buildings were destroyed and another 6–7% damaged.[86] " Atomic bombs release radio-active *radiation*, you're correct on that. They do this, however, in an explosive manner. Wikipedia also has a very clear entry on what explosions actually are.
  11. Questions By Vagabond

The sluice checks for ore in the environment (the details are on the wiki) to determine which ores to return. It may be that this also dictates the quantity of ores found. At any rate I'd expect zero return if there were no ores in the scanned area. If you really can't find anything, try moving your sluices to a different area I guess. I've heard it said sluices require access to the sky, but mine are under a plank roof and function fine. I've gone through stacks as well (using gold pans and 5 sluices) to get enough stuff for my first ingots, which I subsequently destroyed on the anvil because I didn't know what was going on. I think I got an equal amount of gems and ores. EDIT:
  12. Del plays TerraFirmaCraft

You could consider uploading your old footage to free accounts on mediafire or mega and such services. Or get a paid account somewhere for long term storage. Although I don't really see youtube going away soon without priot notice. It's actually trivial to download video from youtube with a browser plugin, so you can always gain access your videos if you need to (although youtube transcodes them so they won't be exact copies, and youtube might make this harder in the future). EDIT: hah you just posted. That might help, yes.
  13. Del plays TerraFirmaCraft

Yeah it sounds like you've been doing it before, usually new LP'ers don't have such a good mic or such a pleasant way of commentating even when nothing much is really happening. Subbed!
  14. Words of encouragement

I would like to concur. I'm only on my first TFC world and have just gotten my first copper anvil, after hours on hours of work getting my first home set up and figuring out how the mechanics worked etc. etc. I always sort of roleplay when playing vanilla survival mode to make it feel like proper survival depends on proper building and resource gathering and such. So I love how it takes 10 hours to get properly set with a nice large home (an undeep wood covered ravine) and my first pickaxe. This would usually cost me 10 minutes at most. Through user error it still took me about as long to get in a position where I'm now good on tier-0 metals for a while and have everything set up to work towards higher tiers. Now I feel I've *earnt* the capacity to be more ambitious about building and shaping terrain. Vanilla is great, but after the first day the world is yours, you can do anything you want. I *like* that, but I *prefer* when I'm NOT god and I have to deal with the terrain and the seasons and the exploring and the resources, and you really have to earn godmode. This is the type of mod I would've made if I was into that sort of thing. I really like the choice to include a lot of real-world metals and their properties. I do have minor programming experience and I feel really inspired by this mod, I see many things in the current version that I would like to add if I could, almost in a dwarf fortressy fashion (i.e. many many more detailed features to then point where you can comfortably plan to work on it for years to come). So if I do someday start getting to grips with java and modding MC, it will be your fault. Really looking forward to the next build, I hear great things about it. EDIT: I have been playing singleplayer but having played on a sort of RP server before I can definitely see how this works really really well in creating cooperative communities.
