      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. 1 Revenge519 2 California PST 3 Both 4 about 15 rich ore, and some excess 5 I've played it for about 2 years. I know most of the fundamentals 6 No I do not 7: I'm a home metal worker which TFC inspired me to do, I'm 19 and a sophomore in college getting a machinist cert. I play guitar and I like to play TFC with other people because by yourself blows... But I love to make new online memories and adventures, I had two great ones in the past but I'm thirsty for a third... ( that sounded creepy)
  2. IGN: Revenge519 Age: 18 Why this server?: I prefer playing with more mature ages. 2 sentence description of yourself/interests: I'm a blacksmith/metal worker, and I'm attending a community college for a certificate in machining.
  3. What is your IGN? Revenge519 Do you like apples? yes What do you like to do in Terrafirmacraft? Build for people and gather metals How old are you? 18 Where do you live? (For time zones)California Are you mature? yes but I can behumorous Tell me about yourself? (3-5 sentences)I'mgoing to community college,Blacksmith/metal worker. I scrap metal too. Anything else I should know? nope. unless you ask. I'llanswer.
  4. Full Name:Joey Eaton Time-Zone:Pacific Standard time Skype: yes or no?yes but I don't have it active Ingame Name: Revenge519 Age: 18 Experience with Minecraft: I've been playing for about 4 1/2, 5 years around there. Experience with TFC: I started playing the mod a little after is started coming out. I'm very familiar with the mod. Why you wish to join:I really enjoy servers like this, They are hard to find now.
  5. IGN: Revenge519 Age: 18 Why us? : Single player is boring and I like to play with other people.
  6. Please note that this is a rough idea. Its not very refined after the first topic, I kind of just ranted on after than Casted vs. Forged As a real blacksmith I have yet to forge my own tools in real life, but I do know that metal casted is just a crystalline structure of no direction. But shaped into a tool shape with a hammer causes the the crystals to be shaped into a direction making the tool or objects structural integrity stronger. when you cast metal into a sand or ceramic mold you get imperfections and and weak spots not to mention the crystalline structure. What I'm getting at is would it be more believable to have forged tool head last longer and preform at a higher level rather than a casted tool head. But since you cant cast steel tools, this only applies to bronze tier metals. I'm not sure if this is already implemented but I think it would make forging more prominent in early ages. Sand Casting Hey your probably thinking that " that would get a rid of the point of casting." Well, here is when it gets fun. Sand casting is much like the casting in TFC but with sand not ceramic, the sand is a mixture of water, clay power and well sand. To cast metal you need to molding boxes any size will do. and to sheets of wood or metal. Its hard to explain this process with out pictures so ill revert you to a link to a metal caster I know, he explains it well http://foundry101.com/new_page_7.htm Things you can make with sand casting: Pipe fittings and valves ( yes look in creative there's pipes its under the devices tab), Large ingots to store metal in larger volumes, and finally solid metal blocks. Yeah yeah, sounds dumb, but remember you can make molding boxes any size? haha yes please. but this runs into a problem about crucibles. Since some of us are are hoarders of metal (Me) metal blocks and large ingots would be fantastic. Crucibles Crucibles are picked up with a lifting shank or tongs and are tipped to pour the molten metal. You can scoop up the metal with a ceramic mold but its highly likely it going to shatter due to thermal shock. Ceramic isn't meant to hold hot metal but clay graphite is. As of now I'm not sure what the Devs have in plan for the crucible but then again they might be done with it I don't know. Crucibles come in different shapes and types and sizes. but in TFC the crucible is the size of half a minecraft avatar. which is real. but crucibles can be the size of a duck too. Like mine. they are good for small castings. larger ones are good for multiple castings and large ones ( like the blocks and larger ingots.) larger ones would require larger shanks and tongs and possibly two people to tip it safely. The crucible and how it operates in TFC is reasonable till you get to iron or copper. Coal can heat up a 1x1x1 meter cup of Iron. Tin, Bismuth, Lead, and Zinc you can due to their low melting temp. A small kiln would better heat up copper, brass, bronze or gold. to a sustainable temperature. Iron nickel and higher metal tiers would be hard to melt and sustain to pour. so that's when I'm not sure how to make a furnace or kiln to a large enough scale. maybe a large hole filled with coal and a crucible in the center. that might work. I might add to this or another post of how everything could work via game play but for now here is just some raw ideas. Thanks for reading my rant. haha
  7. I have a furnace in real life and ive melted steel before, and my furnace has thin sheet galvanized steel around it to keep the ceramic fiber in place, I see this the same way with the bronze bloomery. The bronze sheets would act as a support they wouldn't melt. But if its a bronze box made out of sheet metal, and your melting steel, nickel, and platinum? yeah that's unbelievable on my part, more of the ridiculous end actually. I do see that its a issue of progression in game. but its not believable to melt Iron in a bronze box. but I don't know. that's the devs choice.
  8. Username: Revenge519 Age:18 Location:California Why do you like to play TFC?: BecauseI'ma real lifemetallurgistand I like metal.... a lot, I have almost all the metal in TFC plus the difficulty ofsurvivaland team work. Why do you want to join? I like to play along with other people. What will you add to the server? Building skills and coopaeration
  9. Casted Tools and Sharpening

already said it.... sooo yeah enjoy ....http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/4320-grinding-wheelgrindstone/?hl=grindstone and dunk said no by the way not to burst your bubble or anything. Dunk: "I did a looong post a while back outlining an idea I had for just such a feature. Bioxx and i discussed it, and in the end, we decided it wouldn't work or fit well into the mod."
  10. making glass by sticking fragments onto molten leadisn'tverybelievableto me.... :/but Idon'tknow. I know nothing of glass blowing..
  11. Synopsis: I am a foundry worker myself, and I've melted most TFC metal in real life so I have a good feel around how they really are. But here is the thing, lets say you have a picaxe and it breaks, You should be able to take the remains of that broken picaxe and remelt it down and retrieve the metal! oh that sounds glorious happy face yay But wait.... that's OP... darn Wait don't worry This guy has a solution. Here it is: How it works: MOST metals react to oxygen but in TFC all the metals react to oxygen at certain levels, what I mean some "Rust" or "Oxidize" faster than others "Excluding Gold, Platinum and Rose Gold they don't oxidize" Bismuth, bismuth Bronze, Brass, and Bronze (certain kinds of bronzes and brasses) They oxidize slowly but they still tarnish over time in water or air. Anyways when you melthmmm lets say zinc. Zinc forms a thick oxide layer which is called "dross" when its molten and flashes a bright green white light. and when that happens you lose some marital. This is how it works- The more surface area you have on molten or cold metal the faster it oxidizes, thus more marital you loose. again this is "dross" which is basically trash its just oxide. But certain oxides can be used. but Ill get to that later... The only way to prevent metal oxidation is to melt it in a oxygen free environment. which is impossible in TFC HA! > Flux: As you know what flux is in TFC its also used to keep metal from oxidizing when melting metal, Wax is used for low melting metals, Then Borax for mid range and Limestone for Hot metals (Iron) but even with flux you still loose metal. Drop off Rate: Ok lets see. When you re-melt metal it should have a certain percentage drop off rate, to each respective metal. wrought Iron-35-50% Drop off rate. Fluxed-15-20% Drop rate. and etc with other metals but they would be different. ThisexcludesGold, Rose Gold, and Platinum" Oxide: oxide is a bi-product from metal melting or can be found in nature, oxides have uses depending on the type as well. hey yay So all the "lost" metal can be used in diffrent things? well no not really sorry... well I mean most of them cant...
  12. Changing Stone Generation.

Ill say haha bismuth is pretty rare and I see it all over, nickel should be more common than bismuth, well that's how it works in real life hahaha.
  13. The "Why Can't I...?" Thread

Why cant I recycle a broken metal tool? Metal is recoverable but I know that sounds waay OP but check out my post it solves that... http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/4940-metal-recycling-and-oxide-bi-products/
  14. Im disappointed that this topic didn't get attention...
  15. Need some buddies.

Im 17 and from California I cant host my internet sucks very bad, but I will be moving soon to an area with better web service.
  16. Need some buddies.

depends how old you are. otherwise ill be glad to play.
  17. Sorry fourm wont let me up load pics so, here is my you tube channel, Ill upload more vids soon and Ill have a photo bucket page soon. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLpGqgLGLLWoewCpBCiTbeQ http://s771.photobucket.com/user/Copperhornet/library/?sort=3&page=1
  18. Hey! Why no to NPCs?

I think all the fourm members need to see this post haha. but I think there should be a list of things that wont be added on TFC on the discussion page for people to reference.
  19. Yeah I know, The oxide was a last minute idea, you could even say it was Half-asses hahaha
  20. Impressions from a new player.

TFC is more of a multi-player based game so, thats the loneliness. and pre existing structures.... thats not happening...I hope
  21. Totally agree with the no monster thing haha
  22. Stay real

Honestly I think the mod is amazing and is getting better. the devs continued where the original MC F**ked up Keep going guys. I haven't been disappointed in any updates so far .... lol
  23. Brass as a tool metal

I thought of posting this a while back but I knew brass was too soft until I read up on other brass alloys. Certain brasses CAN be used AS tools, the brass in game would not be the most preferable brass. jugging by the wiki( 88%-92%Cu and 8%-12%Zn) which is the average Bronze alloy mixture (88%Cu,12%Sn), perhaps if...IF the Devs add brass tools and such I suggest making a sub brass alloy Such as: Beta Brass which can only be worked hot, and is also harder and stronger, which resembles the properties of Bronze(45%Zn 55%Cu). There is also High Brass which has High tensile strength, (65%Cu 35%Zn). and finally Muntz Brass which has a tad bit of Iron in it to give it some strength. (59%Cu 40%Zn and 1%Fe). I know I'm going over board buuuut I know a lot in this field of work so just like to throw it out there when I saw the post. (plus reading one post saying that brass is too brittle... well your partially right lol.) Basically- More zinc=harder but more brittle more copper=softer but more tensile strength and ductility. (Small amounts of iron work like zinc but and a higher grade..)
  24. Studying seeds..

I like it I never thought of this! Maybe like they said up top, and apply this concept to other parts of the game to make TFC last longer as you play
