      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. still can't find chickens :(

Try heading toward the equator. If you see deserts, it means you are in the right latitude zone. Also play with your sound turned on, chickens can get hidden in the jungle leaves, but you can find them by their clucking. Remember, you don't need a rooster to find eggs, just hens, but you need a rooster to multiply your population.
  2. Why Can't I Make Bismuth Bronze?

The 6-2-2 works as long as all 3 ores are the same size (all small, all poor, all normal, ore all rich)). If they are varying amounts, you have to do some math. The %ages refer to the metal units, not the number of ores. So 1 ingot of bismuth bronze must contain 10-20 units of bismuth, 20-30 of zinc, and 50-70 of copper. If you have varied ore sizes, you might have to do units of 500 or 700 to get whole number values. Or you could just stockpile the excess 5 units until you get 20 of them.
  3. Forge Chimney Design

Trap door won't block forge functioning but also won't block rain. However, a trapdoor will block mobs from entering, so if you have a bend in your chimney to stop rain, it might still be useful to put a trapdoor up so you don't get surprise attacked when smithing.
  4. Waiting around at night

I play super-nomadically, so I don't settle down to farm until I have a donkey full of bronze-bearing ores and I find an iron-rich location. During my nights I either keep moving and hide from enemies, engages some zombies for experience, or throw down a thatch 3x3 to cook some food and do some pottery. Bring a book.
  5. If you want to edit the wiki.

Yea sure I've been meaning to get around to this for a while. I have 20 posts, and I've played TFC since the flint tool days. Peffern
  6. Y-levels

I keep seeing different opinions as to what y-levels ore/caves appear at. My experience tends to fine large ravine/caves around y-40, and the forums state 60 and 130 for ores. Is there any comprehensive source on this? Also, around said y-40, the rocktype/oregen is messed up. I've found all kinds of ores spawning in rocks they shouldn't be in the caves I've explored.
  7. Can't breed Sheep

This is unrelated to the "Can't breed chickens" thread; they are totally different bugs. I have 2 sheep in a pen behind my house. When I rightclick on them with wheat grain, they both show the hearts, they move toward each other, and it indicates the female is pregnant. I then AFKed in my house for about 24 hours (real life time) which is more than the time of a Sheep pregnancy. However, when I returned, the female was not pregnant anymore, and there were no baby sheep. Do I have to do something? I want lambs! Please help. EDIT: I was in creative mode so I didn't die while AFKing
  8. Can't breed Sheep

    Thanks!
  9. Can't breed Sheep

    Bump
  10. Can't breed Sheep

    I've tried this 3 times.
  11. Impossibug

If anyone figures out what happened here, I will be VERY impressed. Bug: When playing on a server (hamachi) with one other person, we've experienced some bugs. He spawns in rock, one hundred blocks below where he actually is (where I, the server owner, can put him via the /tp command). He lags and can't hurt animals or be hurt, and can't break blocks. It shows me that he sits on the surface and doesn't move. Sounds like a stereotypical case of lag/failed uninstall, right? Wrong. Because here's the weird bit: He can play multiplayer, on the same server using my account. I can play multiplayer on his account! But when he uses his account, on his computer only, it does this weird thing. WHY????? EDIT: When he restarted his computer, it went away. WHY?? WHY?? HOW??
  12. This hasn't been discussed recently, but, what do people think about enchanting? Vote and discuss!
  13. Lag?

I can play TFC just fine but whenever my friend tries to it lags out after about 15 minutes and he has to restart his computer. Any ideas?
  14. Salt Water

This is very simple: replace liquid water in the ocean with a salt water liquid that works similarly to water, except cannot be used to refill your thirst and will not hydrate plants. It seems trivial to implement (it just means creating a clone of the water code and adding a few lines to the hydrate and thirst refill code, then adding it to terrain gen) and it would promote finding lakes or rivers for starting a civilization like irl. Also, salt water could then be used for pickling/curing in the future.
  15. Basic scribbling as alternative to proper writing

Ok. Because I was thinking, suppose I scribble my field notes on a piece of paper. When I get home I want to copy them down into a book.
  16. Brewing and beverages

Why does Dunk keep adding hidden features like that? I love it!
  17. Basic scribbling as alternative to proper writing

I guess you are right. Just one point: You aren't planning to remove the scribing table method are you?
  18. Basic scribbling as alternative to proper writing

Honestly, while I like your suggestion, it doesn't actually fix the problem: You still can't take field notes. The scribing system works great for making cookbooks but not field notes. I need my field notes.
  19. Fishing

Idea (i've suggested before):fill a barrel of water with salt. fill a barrel of salt water with raw fish obtain salted fish that doesn't spoil nearly as fast.
  20. Wool Clothes! / discussion about warmth.

How would we get oil? Olives? Fish?
  21. Crafting Table = Tech Portal

Basically, it came up in another thread* that crafting tables could made more of a later-game item. In vanilla minecraft, a crafting table is the absolute first thing that most people make, so people don't see it as a tech portal (by that I mean something that unlocks a large section of the tech tree). However, most aspects of vanilla minecraft are unavailable until the creation of a crafting table. However in TFC stone tools can be made without a crafting table. The only things that require a crafting table are: scribing, smelting, and barrels. (tell me if I missed one) I have two suggestions to make. 1. the crafting table should be made more expensive. I think they should require a saw blade (or possible a saw blade and hammer head). The reason for this is that first, it moves the crafting table to at least the first metal tool, and second, the crafting table texture has a saw on it The reason that I don't say a saw or hammer and just a blade instead is: 2. Metal tools should not be craftable without a crafting table. In my opinion this is as simple as making them require a recipe of X Tool head X X Stick X X Stick X instead of X Tool head X X Stick X X X X like it is in vanilla. One effect of this is that it would push leather armor farther back in the tech tree (as it requires a barrel which requires a crafting table) which would allow monsters to retain some of their scariness farther into the game. *Eternal this is for you. I didn't want to derail the other thread so I added this one.
  22. Wool Clothes! / discussion about warmth.

I'd like to add one more thing. Leather. Leather items should be sort of a cross between clothes and armor. They're not as bulky as metal armor but still provide some outerwear and defense. Also, in the case of bronze armor, people actually lined it with leather because it was useless otherwise.
  23. TFC On A Hosted Server? HELP!!

So basically, i can use FTP access to replace the server files with a TFC server files (i've run private servers so i know everything that has to be there)?
  24. Cheese

I've made cheese. Some cheeses(like mozzarella) can be made as soon as curds form, which is only a few minutes. However, most cheeses require some aging. To build on this suggestion, a milk-skin form curds and be made into cheese, and then that cheese could be aged to make aged cheese.
  25. Fishing

Will fishing have any byproducts like fish oil? This ties into the buchery idea; we could butcher to fish to obtain filet and get oil for lamps as a by product.
