      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. [Solved] Wild Life Question

I've had lots of issues with wolves killing off sheep and always wondered why killing off the wolves first was ineffective. Now I know why. Seems a little imbalanced though having a mob that is infinite hunt down and kill a finite, and vital, resource.
  2. TFC Build 79

Is anything going to come of those pipes that were tweeted quite a while ago?
  3. I think mechanical power could be amazing in TFC, if done right. There's so many tech/power mods out there for MC that it's difficult to come up with something unique and they tend to have a downside of tying you up in a lot of GUI juggling. Just going from one GUI to the next and spending the output on another block that adds another GUI. Check out the dramatic changes Universal electricity is going through right now. I think something like the teir one and teir two (non-electric) levels of their new power system are great examples of what can be done hands-on without GUIs. I love how TFC makes me feel like I'm actually doing things rather than just flipping a switch and letting magic happen. It'll be quite intersting to see what comes of this.
  4. Impressions from a new player.

Yippee skipee! Your last several commits for build 78 look quite intriguing as well... Now if only we can get that 3D pottery you made that looked oh-so-awesome then build 78 looks like its shaping up to be the bee's knees! But back to the topic of the OP.... I agree with Rhapsodyman2000, give it time and it'll grow on you. Everything in TFC is on a much grander scale. Things take time, even small things, but that only makes the sense of accomplishment seem that much greater when you finally do achieve whatever goal you've set for yourself. The scale of exploration is also huge in TFC. Each map is truly like it's own little world with arctic poles to the extreme North and South, plus a hot and desolate equator bordered by amazing tropical jungles and dotted with sandy islands. There's no way to get everything you need by staying put, that's for sure. As for TFC being balanced for multi-player, while that is true, I still enjoy single player the way it is. Honestly that's how I first fell in love with TFC. Build 76 in single player was one of the best and wholly immersive experiences in Minecraft that I've ever had. While I enjoy the additions made to build 77, I personally feel it lost a little something early game. In build 76 it was much harder to get your first pick. At first that really frustrated me, after all, the defining tool of vanilla Minecraft is surely the pickaxe! But taking access to that away was one of the best things to do gameplay-wise. I spent many seasons in a wooden cabin by a large lake watching the ice slowly cover the water each winter and recede once the bright green of spring returned. I passed the time slowly making home improvements and curing leather while running a battery of sluices so I could scrape together enough metal to forge my first pick. By the time that happened I had a small little garden growing, a budding lemon tree, and a tiny pig farm with my first litter of delicious little bacon-bits on the way. By then I had become so accustomed to life above ground that my first venture underground felt so exciting and foreign. Stumbling upon my first basalt cave was a truly erie experience and finding my first huge vein of copper was pure exhilaration. Ahhh, the good old days... sigh... fond memories... My point is that while TFC doesn't have any one right way to play it, it most certainly can't be played the same as vanilla Minecraft. Build 77 does seem barren at times, I agree, but once you get some livestock and start breeding that changes quite quickly! It helps to randomly breed animals in the wild around your base too. Gestation is slow but you get an entire litter after waiting rather than one big-headed little munchkin. After a little while you can really see the impact you've had on the world. All in all enjoy yourself and go slow. Explore the arctic and journey to the equator. There's so much to see and do, so why rush? There sure isn't any other mod quite like it.
  5. Custom mixture of texture packs

No need to sign up. I downloaded it just fine, just gotta click the little blue download button while ignoring the fake ad download buttons. Nice mix btw.
  6. Its legit. I downloaded and skimmed it. Not bad. Much agreed that screenshots are a pretty necessary part of posting a texture pack however.
  7. Dreams and Farewells

Looks as though Pakratt has even abandoned TFC Tuesdays. Sigh... It was fun while it all lasted I suppose.
  8. [TFC 0.78.9] ExtraFirma Addon v1.0.4

Nice work man! Thanks! Looks like you're working with divisor to get this integrated into Smart Moving?
  9. [TFC 0.78.9] ExtraFirma Addon v1.0.4

I agree with you that B is a better option. A would be really awesome if combat in minecraft had a complete overhaul, but as things stand now B is a better fit. I've played other mods with weapons that remove blocking in favor of a "special" attack option, but they usually just feel kinda wonky and out of place and I just end up defaulting back to the standard sword anyway.
  10. The leather water sac mod has updated and added a couple new textures. It'd be really awesome if you could work your magic on em when you get a chance... I was surprised that the update actually added new textures, so i figured I'd give you a heads up. Thanks Kreicus!
  11. Very nice changes. Subtle, but really makes the water sac fit in nicely with the TFC way of doing things. Thanks for the update!
  12. any way to get older tfc versions?

www.terrafirmacraft.com/files Only goes back to build 75 though.
  13. Thanks for the ExtraFirma texture update! Everything looks great. Forgot to swap the fishing rod textures again though. This is what it currently looks like when you cast the rod... And this is the current uncasted, walking around texture...
  14. 77.9 Animal Spawns

I've started several worlds and have been messing around exploring and noticed that sheep don't seem to be spawning south of -6000. I've checked all the mountainous and hilly areas I could find in three different worlds and no sheep in those areas. They spawn up north just fine. Anyone else notice this at all?
  15. The mod textures are amazing! Great to see add-ons for TFC getting some support. The rope anchor for extrafirma doesn't seem to be textured though. Oh, and the fishing rod textures still need to be swapped:)
  16. [TFC 0.78.9] ExtraFirma Addon v1.0.4

I haven't had time to try yet, but does anyone know if there are any conflicts between this mod and 77.12? I see carpets were added and I know that this mod adds them too. I'd download and check it out for myself, but I don't have access to a TFC capable PC for a little while.
  17. Better Cave-In Mechanics

Hey, that's cool! I'd like to see that in TFC someday! But seriously, I think that looks pretty good really and I'd imagine with some tweaking and improvements it just may be better than the current system. I still have nothing but respect for the mod devs though and I think if you just change your tone slightly, you'd get the results you want.
  18. Donations

I've been thinking about it as well recently and I feel pretty guilty for not donating sooner myself. Consider that the average xbox360 game is sixty bucks and lasts roughly ten hours. TFC has given me HUNDREDS of hours of play time, literally, plus its superior quality compared to most of the mindlessly mass produced and uninspired garbage that is considered video games these days. Sure, its got its bugs and flaws, but ultimately TFC just keeps improving with time. I'm embarrassed that I haven't contributed anything to something that brings me so much pleasure and enjoyment sooner. As soon as my paycheck rolls in, I plan on rectifying this horrendous oversight. Thank you Dunk and Bioxx! I'm sure at times it seems that the community is ungrateful and does nothing but complain that all of your hard work just isn't good enough, but most of us are very appreciative. It seems the most obvious way to show that is by donating, so that is what I will do and encourage others to do the same. The devs deserve it! Hell, I wouldn't even be playing minecraft at all anymore if TFC weren't around. Thanks again guys!
  19. cannot place cobblestone

Yup, you got it. There's a great video about starting out in Build 77 by Macrixen in the guides section of this forum. Check it out. Should answer all of your questions. The wiki is well maintained by Kreicus and Kittychanley too. Its a great resource. Happy gaming!
  20. cannot place cobblestone

nope. no more planks from axes and logs. you need to make a saw first.
  21. cannot place cobblestone

place four of those loose rocks in a square in your crafting grid to make cobble. They must be the same rock type and be careful because cobble can only be broken with a pick and is affected by gravity. Thatch and logs are good starter materials for shelter.
  22. That sure seems accurate to me. I go through vast stretches of land without seeing any clay at all and most of the clay deposits I have managed to find has been in swampy areas or along river banks. Just as it should be.
  23. Much agreed. Animal spawn too!
  24. tips for finding Chickens 77.10?

I agree. I enjoy the difficulty of rarer animal spawns, but i think it is currently far too rare. It doesn't require skill to locate the animals, just time. Far too much time. Try using Voxel Map. It's radar feature is great and it shows all non hostile mobs in the area with an icon of their head so you can easily tell what is what. Great for locating sheep and chickens. On the quail subject, good idea, though I think a duck would make sense as a decent northern alternative to chickens. Wouldn't require much more than a retexture since the chickens pretty much look and act like ducks anyhow. Happy hunting!
  25. tips for finding Chickens 77.10?

Animal spawns are linked to climate rather than biome now. Even though you won't see TFC Forest as the biome when you press f3, chickens do indeed spawn in areas that are heavily forested or in jungle areas near the equator. I had many issues with this myself, but i assure you they are there. Try checking somewhat further south. I've noticed that sheep spawn in their proper hill and mountain area, but only up north. Once you hit -6000 sheep don't spawn at all. Maybe something similar is happening with the chickens, but I think they're just exceedingly rare. I just found one several minutes ago in a heavily forested area around x -9000.
