Thanks it works very well. I do have to say that walking on grass blocks sounds like walking on carpet. I'm also not that fond of the shuffling feet effects. Other than that, quality audio.

You got it backwards actually. I just checked again. Vanilla snow layers cannot stack more than 1 layer on a block. However, they do stack more than 1 layer (but it varies) on top of TFC snow layers. However, you can only stack up to 1 block height. Adding one more layer on top of a full block causes the entire block to disappear. Also you can walk through these blocks (they are transparent like thatch blocks). So.. well I would prefer the snow accumulation limit during a snow storm to be tweaked to higher levels or have the limit removed entirely. But if not that, at least I would like to decorate my mountain with snow layers (and snow blocks). BTW the vanilla snow blocks do not "melt" away in summer, obviously. Why do i care about this so much? I love snow in general (in real life), but also because snow is a neat dynamic feature of TFC.

I managed to breed horses in 79.10 but my sheep and pigs going back many versions have familiarity but wont breed no matter how much i feed them. I think carrying my world over to 79.10 has glitched out these animals i familiarized before. I should check with some new animals like the horses that i haven't familiarized yet until 79.10.

Sometimes there are new game mechanics in TFC that the community (or rather I, speaking for myself) do not like. But if we all remain decent enough, creative workarounds such as one given above by Kitty are presented, and do not detract from the dev's vision of what TFC should be about. I will simply say, thank you Kitty and others for your goodwill and effort.

Now if you google "P4" ( or "pentium 4") and "fastest graphics card" , you will be directed to forums (even Tom's hardware) where people advise without hesitation not to spend money to upgrade your old computer. Your processor is the bottleneck no matter what graphics card you buy. Sure, you might get some extra performance but it would be marginal. That your PC has a PCIe slot means very little since it is revision 1.0a, the first of its kind, the slowest and not entirely compliant. Maybe you buy a graphics card and it doesnt stably work with it. It's a gamble.

Another thing is that (accidental) deaths resets the nutrients levels. So dying may be even preferable in some cases.

I don't think the role of thatch is going to be changed back. The best result we got was that we can at least place thatch on the ground again. You will have to adapt your play-style.

As in screenshots? You can test it by starting a creative world and teleport to the southern hemisphere where it's winter. Then take some snow layers and start placing them down. You will see that some blocks take multiple layers whereas others none. That's because TFC has a limit placed on the number of layers but it seems to vary from block to block.

Hah, what a surprise! PCIe after all >.< Still, that videocard linked in the post above will not perform optimally with a P4 CPU. Caution is still advisable. Also make sure your power supply unit is up to the task.

I still live on individual cooked pieces of meat, and uncooked vegetables and grain. Hunger saturation is not terrible and i can keep my nutrient levels up just by eating a piece of meat, then a piece of vegetable, etc. If cooking were to be really important, eating individual pieces of(uncooked)food should ideally adversely affect the player.

Ah so there was a bug. I do remember noticing missing charcoal blocks in my charcoal pit much, much earlier on. Therefore, I resorted to a 3x3x3 charcoal room, dug out from a mountain, from which i get about 2 stacks of charcoal close to the minimum amount expected. Maybe in this set up, log piles don't easily catch on fire...?

Well obviously you can buy one of the fastest AGP cards ever made for some $100 and that should be OK for you to play minecraft even up to medium settings (and modded on minimum settings). However, is it worth it in the long run? Do you only ever intend to play minecraft? Do you not intend to watch high definition movies? Do you not intend to use graphics (e.g. photoshop) or movie/music editing software? Mind you, even internet browsing and watching youtube videos will suffer. In other words, is the PC only intended for minecraft and possibly some word processing? If yes, then sure buy an overpriced outdated videocard. However, if you have any desire to do anything else with the PC, then hold on and save up more money for a better rig. It's not that hard to do

No. Don't do it. PCI is slower than AGP.

So a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz, and some AGP graphics card? One of the fastest AGP graphics card ever released was the ATI RADEON 4670. But this card is still easily more than $100. I could not even playback video at 1080p resolution because the CPU/GPU combination was too slow! Think about it. ;-)

I've found chickens in an acacia wood forest in my world. I killed them all for feathers because i cant be bothered bringing some over to my base some 6,000 blocks away. Maybe next time i will put a nesting box with another flock so that they can lay eggs over time, which i can come back for. I assume we don't have to familiarize chickens then...
