ATTENTION Forum Database Breach 03/04/2019
There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again. -
This forum is now READ ONLY! 01/20/2020
As of this post and forever into the future this forum has been put into READ ONLY MODE. There will be no new posts! A replacement is coming SoonTM . If you wish to stay up-to-date on whats going on or post your content. Please use the Discord or Sub-Reddit until the new forums are running.
Any questions or comments can be directed to Claycorp on either platform.

We have a suggestions forum, please elaborate your suggestion there. Welcome to the forums!

Of course, i can tweak stuff as you suggest but i don't want to render useless a nice item like a lantern by brightening up the game so night becomes day. The decorations mod adds lanterns that are alcohol-based and if i ran a poll, most people would probably prefer this version or this thread would not exist. On the whole, TFC devs do a great job, but sometimes i feel already existing implementations are ignored and another approach is used that doesn't correspond to the community's expectations. I'm not trying to argue, but anyway, on the topic of the lantern that is my 2 cents.

Lighting is a basic necessity and a nuisance if the game turns dark frequently (because torches extinguish over time in the default game). The idea of a luxury item is nice, but should not be lanterns imo. If I were to play TFC again from scratch, i'll just end up using Jack O Lanterns again, if they are still in the game.

Can you get the shaders to work without any mods? When you say 'it' does not work, you have to be more specific. For example, to get TFC water shaders, you have to look up the block ID's using the NEI plugin for instance. The ID's posted in this thread may not be the same for you. You have to edit the gbuffers_water.vsh file on line 48 starting with if (mc_Entity.x == 8 || ...

I would be sad to see the snow block removed.

Not since the potion effects were removed from salads... i miss haste and double jump...

There used to be even more useless ores in the game. I thought they were placeholders for later use but now i don't know. Think of them as flowers to decorate the world, no practical use.

Awww sucks. The series is over because GenerikB stopped playing minecraft and BDouble0 found working the anvil too complicated and boring. I think TFC needs some major overhaul to become more entertaining by reducing the grind. But i suppose that is impossible since TFC at its heart is a grindfest

I'm impressed how far this modpack has come. Really nice!
I only had a glance but it seems breaking a leaf block two blocks away from the tree trunk, breaks many leaf blocks by hand in one go. Is this intended?

Cool map. Are the flat areas the oceans? The mountains are clearly visible as peaks. I still regret there are no continuous highland regions though.

Wow, great add on! Pity to hear it is 'wasteful'. A trade off for automation?

It's much harder to mine and move. Something close to realistic right? Much more than flat terrain and tunnellable mashed potato mountains.
That's not really what i mean. Did you try the mod in vanilla MC? The curved terrain and wormhole tunnels in the mountains look appealing but behind the morphed terrain, there still exists the blocky nature of minecraft. Therefore, it's tedious and confusing to mine. For example, you see some ore, but when you think you mine it, you are actually mining the adjacent blocks.

Cannot be done. Anyway, i did not find this mod playable at all. Impossible to mine as the terrain gets morphed all the time.

Enviromine displays body temperature, not ambient temperature. Does the mod even look at the ambient temperature TFC reports in the F3 console? If you're at the equator, would you die of heat stroke? Without the camelbak for hydration, i see some problems with enviromine+TFC...

this is a game, not real life simulatorCan you tell me ONE real life sim that features proper stone age to med age stuff ? because there is none! Thats why a lot of ppl end up here i guess
There are more survival simulators than ever before. Stranded deep is the latest to name one. But TFC should be more than that and i'm glad it is.

If there is nothing around you in a radius of 2000 blocks, the best way to find new geological biomes is to travel by boat over an ocean (since you can travel day and night). Sometimes you must travel for over 5000 blocks to find something new. If you happen to find basalt, you are in luck. This is the most useful, ore-rich rock in the game.
I had to travel a really long distance to find kaolinite. It was so frustrating i added the enhanced portals mod and spawned in the building blocks. When i finally did find the rock type with kaolinite, i build a portal that would transport me back home instantaneously (the one at home was already pre-built). After that, i would always use to portal to go back to and from the far lands.

Seems too easy to say, please make TFC more difficult without going into any detail what makes a game more difficult. Many people, in fact, want TFC to be less unforgiving (especially at the start)!
Vanilla minecraft does not really want to be a hard game since it's more about creative building. Mods like TFC can make the game harder to survive, but cannot change to core of the game, which is for the most part based on minecraft mechanics. Typically, a player finds a game more difficult when staying alive becomes a challenge. Alternatively, one can make a game seem harder when the player needs to grind a lot to achieve a particular objective. I don't like the latter as it is tedious and repetitive. TFC combines both.
Some means to make the game harder include:
-More hostile, tougher mobs dealing more damage
-Slowed progression towards better armour
-Slowed progression towards better weapons
-Rarity of animals/crops/food to increase risk of starvation
-(new) Temperature and hydration effects
All of these lead to more frequent deaths, except the penalty of death is quite forgettable. Nonetheless. apart from the first entry, i think TFC has done well to turn minecraft into a better survival game and no other mods do it better. Enviromine mod is perhaps the most popular one because it enhances minecraft survival. However, it is flawed and limited in the way it doesn't really strife to be believable, rather it wants to be compatible with all the machine mods out there. Only TFC has substantially modified the survival mechanics and become more independent from the base game (e.g. mobs and player have much more hit points to allow for more flexibility in progression towards better armour and weapons).
But as in any game, once the player is proficient enough, the game is no longer difficult. To make the game harder still, you could strife for a harder start (e.g. spawn on an island with limited resources), but this is not really the answer. In the end, you should probably look elsewhere for harder games to play

You can recycle an old anvil to recover a lot of metal. That's enough.

I suggest a standard size stack of dirt. I do not argue that its size can be changed.
I'm only suggesting a workaround for your suggestion because it will never be implemented as standard. You can change stack size for yourself. If you play on a multiplayer server, then just roleplay you cannot carry more.
1 -
Ah ok. There is a command that can do this:
maxstack [ITEMID|ITEMNAME|all] [STACKSIZE] - Configures the maximum stack size of that item between 1 and 64.

I'm afraid your web translator has failed on this one... i cannot understand.
