      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Anybody use or has used Linux before? (gnu/linux)

I have used Ubuntu. Currently have an old desktop and my really old laptop running Debian. My main rig is a custom build in a Corsair 730T Full-Tower case, running windows 8.1.
  2. More agricultural amendments: Hoes and ploughs

You could, or you could not. Have you thought of how the plow would be implemented? Is it just another item that you right click with or is it an Entity that must be drawn by some draft animal? I would assume that making it an entity would be significantly more difficult.
  3. Storage for big blocks

Add-on... Every time I see something where a small group of people might enjoy it while others would not that's all I think about. I don't want this, if you want it fine. You could probably get some of this effect if you were to change the size tags from light & tiny to Huge & Heavy.
  4. More agricultural amendments: Hoes and ploughs

So if I can't till grass blocks with a hoe then I have this magical tool called... a shovel. Tada! Instant dirt! I have personally tilled grassy soil with a shovel and a hoe, it is totally possible. The shovel breaks it into chunks and the hoe breaks down the chunks. I would not go to the trouble of making a plow when I can just use a shovel... I propose that almost no one would make plows.
  5. More agricultural amendments: Hoes and ploughs

Personally I would rather not make farming more of a pain than it already is. This just sounds tedious. Perhaps if someone would like to make an add-on for this so people have the option to choose how difficult they want farming to be.
  6. [Solved] Supporting a block of ore

Why not disable cave-ins in the config until you are sure that the ore display can not collapse? That would prevent anything bad from happening.
  7. Quenching Mechanism

This is only the case with Steel. Quenching is actually a part of the Annealing process when used on copper silver and bronze, resulting in a softer metal.
  8. Mount&Blade:W mod wanted!

That sounds great. I would enjoy this also.
  9. Food symbols depending on weight

I prefer the increments that are already implemented in the game. For food they are: 0-20oz Tiny 20-40oz Very Small 40-80oz Small 80-160oz Medium Perhaps I was unfair in criticism of the unevenness. It only makes sense that the pictures would change when the size of the object as listed in game changes.
  10. Food symbols depending on weight

Could you at least use the SAME increments that are used in TFC? Your suggestion is not even consistent throughout itself the first section is 40 and the others are 60. The suggestion is completely aesthetic and unnecessary already since the weight is already indicated by words, by numbers, and by the little white bar. If someone wanted to make an add-on for this, fine. Otherwise this is just a huge waste of time that would more productively be applied to TFC2. The utter lack of observation and basic math is really a deal breaker for me.
  11. [Solved] Cant extract alcohol out of barrel. Feature?

Nah, just increase your "Drunkenness" skill until you max it out. Then equip it to your hot-bar and GO-GO-GOooooooooooo... Chug chug chug chug!* *May cause loss of vision and or hearing, impairment of balance and acute dieing.
  12. Alcohol Heating

Have you ever heard of the corn burning stove? Anywhere where you have an excess of inexpensive grain people (in modern times) burn it. I personally would rather drink, I mean brew the alcohol... Perhaps one should plant less grain?
  13. Eh, Killing a computer is half the fun of it. It's really great when you fix it after screwing it up. Accomplishment!
  14. New bow recipe

How about you use logs rather than a sapling? Considering that bows were/are never made out of saplings. You would get an extremely uneven weak bow that is quite useless. You actually use straight grained lumber from a mature tree to make a wooden self bow. Usually it is done so that the heartwood forms the inside (or backside depending on how you look at it) of the limbs, which is under compression, and the sapwood, which is more flexible, forms the outside (or front) of the limbs and is under tension.
  15. Firepit Construction

Why not just make an add-on called "Better fire pits" or something? You could implement all of the aspects you desire and people would have the option to choose between what they prefer.
  16. [Rule #4] Additional Fuels for Lanterns

Agreed. Lindybeige has some interesting videos about torch use. Indoorshttps://youtu.be/HQZqbGME5HY Outdoors https://youtu.be/jiuHr5YVJBI Alternatives https://youtu.be/LMhMrnWslQs
  17. [Rule #4] Additional Fuels for Lanterns

This is how soybean oil is produced according to wikipedia: ProductionTo produce soybean oil, the soybeans are cracked, adjusted for moisture content, heated to between 60 and 88ºC (140–190°F), rolled into flakes, and solvent-extracted with hexanes. The oil is then refined, blended for different applications, and sometimes hydrogenated. Soybean oils, both liquid and partially hydrogenated are sold as "vegetable oil," or are ingredients in a wide variety of processed foods. Most of the remaining residue (soybean meal) is used as animal feed. Would you please think a few moments about fuels that would actually fit into the idea of TFC before suggesting fuels that were not produced in the era that TFC is portrayed?
  18. [Rule #4] Additional Fuels for Lanterns

You mean by smashing? Corn Oil is made by grinding the germ of corn. Olive oil is made by grinding the entire olive. Assuming you have good quality corn and olives the yields by weight are: 38% for olives 2.8% for corn Olives have over 13 times more oil yield per pound than corn. Olives also require far less processing than corn does for oil production. If you were to implement corn oil as a possible lamp fuel you would have to first implement a way to separate the germs from the starchy bit of the kernels. Or you could simplify it and have a very low oil yield that consumes the other 97.2% of the corn that is not oil. Seems like a bit of a hassle to destroy 160 oz of corn for only 4.48 oz (by weight) of oil. In conclusion, I don't think that corn oil is a believable option for TFC because corn oil is a modern product that would require a large amount of labor to produce by hand and was not historically used as a lamp fuel. Perhaps rendering tallow from animal fat would be an acceptable option? Tallow was used historically as a fuel for lamps. Perhaps it could be added as a drop from animals along with their meat?
  19. TFC Server Setup - Help requested!

Is the company GGServers? I just set up a server with them too, took a bit of work to figure out how to work it. I can give you a hand if you like. The trick is to follow the guide on the wiki, upload the folder with the JARs in it. Rename it JAR and put the library folder in the JAR folder also. Then Copy and paste the name of the forge server from the JAR folder into the jar selection box on the server page. Be SURE to hit the SAVE button at the bottom. Your server should start up now.
  20. [Solved] torch can't give light while in my hand

    No you didn't.
  21. [Solved] drinking water problem

Hmmm. It didn't work when I tried it before posting that reply, but on further testing it seems that crouching does not make a difference. Apologies.
  22. [Solved] drinking water problem

It does work, you are just doing it wrong. If you are crouching (default Shift) you can not drink by right clicking the water. You must be standing.
  23. Just A Little Archery Tweak.

They stalked the deer vor maybe three days an when the are careless for just a second, all their work was in vain. What? Three days? Why would you ever stalk something for that long? You would never stalk something for more than a few hours. What would you eat or drink? Where would you go to the bathroom? How do you stalk something in your sleep, or did they just not sleep for three days for a scrawny little deer? Doesn't the deer eat or sleep? Why not sneak up while it is asleep and kill it then? Also, the method in that video was not "mainly used for combat". The shooting in the video is stunt shooting, exhibition, circus. Meant to be flashy and wow the crowd but not useful in a combat situation.Although I agree with you that the slow draw in TFC is appropriate to hunting and is believable.
  24. Just A Little Archery Tweak.

Along those lines I do appreciate this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDbqz_07dW4 A logical and calm examination of the practicality of trick shooting. While exhibition shooting is flashy it lacks applicable value.
