      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Firepit Construction

Straw is not a balance issue. Fire is so essential to life and is not a difficult thing to make IRL. Dry grasses and such are some of the very best kinds of tinder and they are readily available almost anywhere. IRL you don't even need a knife to get tinder. Right now you need is 5 sticks for a fire. If you want it to be quick it takes 6 sticks and 2 stones of the same type to get the straw as well. Perhaps straw should be required to start a fire if you want to make it more difficult, but it does not bother me the way it is right now. I do like the fire pit model though.
  2. *Bob Dylan* "Howwwww hot or cooold is the airrrrr over here, these numbers I don't understaaaaaaand! Howwwww much rain fallllllll do you geeeeet in this place, the ground here is made out of saaaaaaaaand. The Answer my friend, is a Finger in the Wind, the Answer's a Finger in the Wind." Great idea mate.
  3. [Solved] Can't Find Bushes

You are unlucky. The world is a big place, keep looking.
  4. [Breaks Rule #1]Slow cooking

I don' think that I would ever use this in TFC. Why would I take longer and use more resources to cook something when I can just use a fire pit or forge? Cooking meat is not very difficult.
  5. Hiding through the first few nights

I find the pit kilns are especially useful for setting mobs on fire at night. It makes killing them a lot easier as well as providing light and firing stuff.
  6. Fatigue bar

The poll is incomplete. There is no option for, "A fatigue bar is extremely tedious and would not add anything to game play besides annoyance."
  7. Panning with sand just as good as gravel?

Oops, I stand corrected... Carry on.
  8. Panning with sand just as good as gravel?

Panning with gravel used to give a higher chance of ores while sand gave a higher chance of gems. I can not recall if it has been changed.
  9. Woodland Lag

    Yes, they would.
  10. Woodland Lag

Fire. That usually helps thin the forests down a bit. I have had some natural fires too from exposed lava pools. Although it might cause a bit of lag before it gets better...
  11. From the very limited information given, it would appear that the version that you have of TFC on the client is not the same as the version on your server. Please check to make sure that you have exact same builds of TFC installed on both server and client. Edit: Damnit! Got double kitty-ninjaed...
  12. Share your livestock knowledge

Why not use an axe? That is the traditional Chicken killing instrument. A stone axe kills chickens in one whack. You could also wait until night when your chickens are roosting if you have really bad aim.
  13. Use for Obsidian?

Boat anchor, since it likes being at the bottom of the ocean so much. Perhaps a millstone because of its extreme hardness. This would also make it extremely difficult to shape, but hey it's a game.
  14. Crafting Sandstone

So you are saying that the future of those items is sort of... muddy? Ha! Couldn't help myself.
  15. Config Option: Should Nutrition Levels Restore on Spawn?

Funny how this seems to be such a big deal for some people. I have never even been tempted to kill myself to refill nutrients. Is it not odd the the people who go "Change this! It's bad!" are the same people who don't kill themselves? So if this were changed it would not have any impact on you because you already don't kill yourself for food. (sounds strange because it is) I still see no point in doing anything about this since it isn't hurting anyone and it is actually a useful feature when the do-do hits the fan.
  16. Animal Cage backpack

Would be WAY more convenient and believable than roping and leading chickens. Seriously, Chickens on a rope? I once jokingly told a player to put chickens in a barrel, but obviously a cage would be more appropriate.
  17. [Offline] Small Self-hosted Server

Ha! I like it! I may just join because your rules are awesome. So many times I have thought that the "Don't be a dick." rule should be an official part of so many other servers.
  18. Better coal

By the way. When I am using the Pro Pick and I find Coal it sometimes says that it finds Lignite or Bituminous Coal. I don't know if there is a difference once you mine them or if it is just using the terms interchangeably.
  19. Ranged weapons vs. Skeletons

Seriously? Comic Sans? 24 Pica? Enough with the trolling. On another subject, Arrows can easily pierce bones. I know it is not just meganuke who thinks that they can't but they can and have for many years. When certain tribes of Native Americans hunted Buffalo their composite bows would often shoot through both sides of the animal and into the ground. They did not always miss the ribs, many times they would shoot right through them. Penetration is not a problem for arrows despite their relatively low velocity when compared to bullets.
  20. Use for Lead

Hahahahahaha, I assume this is a joke? I mean, seriously, your profile pic is a Trollface panda. Lead WATER pipes were used in Rome 1000's of years ago. Hence the word for Plumber from the Latin for lead Plumbum and the atomic symbol for lead Pb. The melting point of lead is 621°F, over 2,000°F BELOW the melting temperature of pure iron. Yeah, that would work really well. In the future if you are tempted to troll please put it in off topic or discussion or somewhere considerate that will not clutter up the forums where the real information is.
  21. Divisor's Smart Moving

I also thought that you were asking for someone to take over some sort of support for SM. If there is an issue please state it (as mentioned) so we can give you help. That's what the community is for, to help each other out. Honey, don't worry about not having any programing experience. If there is a legitimate problem/issue with a mod that is not simple user error don't hesitate to mention it to the mod author/maintainer. If the comment is worded in a respectful manner and the author/maintainer is a humble person there should be no issue with you pointing out that it does not work as intentioned, regardless of your lack of programming experience. To Illustrate: If a person goes to a mechanic to get their vehicle repaired and when they come to pick it up and the car will not start he should say to the Mechanic, "Excuse me, I just came to pick up my car that has been repaired and it will not start.". In that case the Mechanic should not respond, "What are you talking about? I am not stupid! I am the experienced mechanic, not you!". Rather the mechanic should respond calmly and, remembering that he is human and fallible, check to see what the problem is. When the problem has been isolated and remedied the Mechanic should say something like "I'm sorry, a wire was not connected correctly. I have fixed the problem. Now your car should start. Thank you for telling me." The experience or lack of experience on the part of the vehicle owner does not factor into the situation. I understand that the reason for your wording may have been because you thought that you did not err when installing SM. Please remember that we are all human and may make mistakes. If there is an issue please state what is not working so that it can be solved. 1. If it is user error we can help you so your game works better for you and it may help others who experience a similar issue. 2. If it is NOT user error then it can be relayed to the people who can fix the issue. This helps everyone. So either way it is best if you just tell us what the problem you are experiencing is. I assume from the content of your previous posts that you are a humble and kind person who will relieve this reply in a positive and gracious way.
  22. Divisor's Smart Moving

I confirm this. If your server does not have SM installed the crawling will render on your side but your character will not be able to move through 1x1 holes. When SM is installed correctly you can even crawl horizontally though 7x7 micro-block holes and fall vertically through 6x6 Micro-block holes in chiseled blocks. (given that 1Block=8 micro-blocks) I once made a map testing all of the capabilities of SM. SM is a really fun mod and I enjoy/ would recommend it for use with TFC to make movement more believable.
  23. Rain Barrel for Irrigation

I feel the Tuyeres are not needed. It would be sufficiently difficult and believable to just make unsealed water barrels water surrounding farm land.I know a lot of old gardeners who use barrels and water cans to water their plants every evening. Realistically a plot 81m² (871ft²) would easily consume 2 barrels per day (assuming a 40 gal capacity to barrels). I would feel much better about having water barrels only irrigate 2 blocks away from themselves. That would work to 24m² (296ft²) and at 2 buckets per day I feel this would be believable and semi accurate. It would also be sufficiently labor intensive refilling the barrels to cancel out the imagined time that would be spent distributing the water between plants without being totally life-sucking.
  24. Some things about Donkey/Mules

Oh, Mules are in Vanilla? It has been so long since I have seriously played Vanilla that I seem to have lost touch with fantasy.(as opposed to reality) If horses and donkeys are the same in Vanilla as TFC than it only makes sense that Mules would be possible too. From the Vanilla Wiki it appears that mules are just re-skinned donkeys that can not breed. Question, can you put a saddle OR a chest on donkeys in TFC? If they are the same as Vanilla then you can, if not then they have been tweaked somewhat. If it were the case that Donkey = pack only and Horse = ride only than mules as a versatile pack or ride option would make sense.
  25. Animal Feeding Trough

I believe animals already have a sort of hunger system. I seem to recall that animals would eat grass and regenerate health if they were injured. I also think that there were accounts of people's animals starving to death, perhaps? I know there were discussions regarding how much land it takes to feed X number of type Y livestock. If I can find evidence to my point I will edit in a link.
