      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Animal Feeding Trough

But then they would be familiarized with the Trough... In my opinion a trough defeats the object of familiarization because there is no interaction with the animals. How do they magically like you more from eating from a trough? Did you sit them all down and have a heart to heart (OMG puns today) conversation explaining where the food comes from and that you have their best interest in mind? I am not opposed to the idea of a Trough for feeding animals, merely that the Trough should NOT familiarize them. Perhaps rather than trying to tame an entire heard of Buffalo you should just try working with a few at a time? Then perhaps breed the tamed ones until you have your desired herd size. Ropes are also nice to use to keep your animals from roaming too far o jumbling up when you are managing them.
  2. Some things about Donkey/Mules

Why would I want a mule? Please explain beyond, "they should be implemented because they are possible IRL". Also, Mules are sterile due to not having a complete set of chromosomes. e.g. You must have a continuous supply of breeding stock of BOTH Donkeys and Horses to have a constant supply of mules. I personally would not want to waste time / resources breeding an animal that is merely a Half-Ass-Horse (haha, was wanting to say that) with no chance of further breeding unless there were some definite benefits.
  3. A Hard Lesson to Learn

HAhahahaahhaahahaha, That's never happened to me before... Why would you think that? ... @ Bunsan, Thank youse for sharing. It would be a terrible thing if something was to happen to your safety... Capish? Seriously though, that is a good thing to keep in mind. Only takes one log pile and an errant torch to make s whole lot of people very sad.
  4. pumpkins to lamps

Problem solved, well sort of. I assume the pumpkin and jack-o-lantern share the same texture? Too bad they couldn't be separated so that the unlit pumpkins still looked like pumpkins. Oh well, I would rather have a nice looking lamp than a pumpkiny pumpkin. Now it makes sense why they can't be grown, because they're lamps. I'll have to check this out. Thanks.
  5. Hello, I'm here to help!

Perhaps it would be advantageous to get a profile pic? It would make you more human and instantly recognizable on the forums.
  6. An Apology

"She's the admin this forum deserves, not the one it needs right now. A not so silent protector. The Kitty..." p.s. I hope you watch Batman...
  7. Sculpting Skill

Agreed. I am mot super bad at using the chisel, but chiseling detail blocks is already difficult/tedious enough. Adding the possibility of loosing a perfectly crafted block just because of a low skill number would break the system for me.
  8. All these bots

Hahahaha, reminds me of the Brain Monsters from Futurama.
  9. Trenix's Farewell

I assume some of the reluctance to have other people help with the wiki is due to the person who had permission and screwed it up a while ago. Remember that? Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice and you are never editing the wiki again.... or something like that. http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/7257-solved-cant-access-the-wiki/?hl=%20can#39;t%20%20access%20%20wiki Would be a good time to let us help out a bit though.
  10. Body Temperature Tolerance Build Up

Agreed, behavior is the greatest factor.
  11. Body Temperature Tolerance Build Up

I take exception to the claim that the ability to survive in differing environments is evolutionary. There is a big difference evolution and adaptation. Random genetic mutations as are required by evolutionary theory tend to have a negative effect on organisms rather than a positive one. Think for a moment of a rather complex piece of technology a shortwave radio. Does jabbing a stick into it repeatedly tend to make it function better or worse? Even the simplest forms of life are exponentially more complex than a radio. Studies with fruit flies (chosen for their rapid reproduction allowing many generations to be studied in a short period of time) for instance show that when random mutations are induced and some are passed on to their offspring that the mutations self correct in a few generations. Rather than having a cumulative effect they are rapidly canceled out and "normal" fruit flies are the result. I take exception to claims that are made with no supporting evidence. Enough about this. I agree that behavior is a large factor. I also agree that adaptation/acclimatization also has an important role. For instance, when you move from a colder climate to a warmer climate, after a few weeks your body will begin to grow a vast network of capillaries close to the surface of the skin. These increase the efficiency of your body's cooling system. When you move back to a cold climate those capillaries are blocked off and reabsorbed, increasing your body's ability to retain heat. I also agree that inbuilt temperature preferences would likely over complicate matters with little return for the effort required to implement/tweak them to work acceptably.
  12. [Minor] Shapeless beam recipe

Why? Supporting evidence for your argument? (oh no, puns!)
  13. Animals hate me.

Perhaps you should also make sure that the animal is not full of grass. Why should he accept food from strange men if he can have all of the tasty familiar grass he can eat? A little hunger can be a great motivator.
  14. [Solved] Ceramic Vessel not storing items!

You are welcome, that's why they call it a community.
  15. Remove Gold Pan

Metal, eh? http://www.amazon.com/Garrett-Metal-Detectors-Gold-Pan/dp/B000GFQ61G No one uses metal pans anymore.
  16. [Solved] Ceramic Vessel not storing items!

How large are the stacks? You can only fit 80oz or smaller pieces of food in ceramic vessels. Also, I believe items must be size small or smaller. Here is the topic where I learned this. http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/6951-meat-in-vessels/#entry93766
  17. Skeletons a bit op-ed?

Hammer = Crushing. 2 skellies with hats will get stuck attacking each other for eternity since they both deal and are immune to piercing damage.
  18. Remove Gold Pan

Everyone? How did you know that panning was even an option? When you learn that panning exists you will invariably learn about gold pans, the very tool that makes panning possible. You could perhaps also discover by accident that you can craft a gold pan by putting a bowl in the crafting grid. It makes sense not to clutter up the code for a single item with completely differing task possibilities. And does it really take that much effort to click three times? In my opinion this is a total waste of time. It benefits no one and provides no measurable improvement in game play, it just sucks away time that would be better spent implementing new mechanics such as body temperature.
  19. Drinking water

    Exactly.
  20. Food: Soups/Stews, more recipes

Pretty sure Soups and Stews were already planned at some point in the past. (probably around B78 considering the place holder) Probably not a good chance for them until body temp is added since it just seems like a wet salad otherwise.
  21. Polished stone tools

Polished stone tools were made from different materials than knapped stone tools. Any difference in quality is due to the material used not the process. If this were to be implemented it would only make sense to change knapping and grinding to only be possible with certain types of stones. Are you aware that stone tools have greater or lesser durability depending upon what stone type they were created from? *Some types of stone will result in more durable stone tools than others. This is not immediately apparent, as all stone tool icons look the same. In order of increasing durability: Sedimentary, Metamorphic, Igneous Intrusive, Igneous Extrusive. There are many types of stone in each category.*
  22. Revert Charcoal smoke effect

If you actually like the process of charcoal making IRL you should watch this series of videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGiCUAMargY The chain smoker thing is not in any way an understatement. Much of it is water-vapor, but there is a lot.
  23. [Create a New Topic for Each Suggestion]

The pick/axe would be inferior to either a pick or an axe so I doubt I would use one. Destroy in area? What exactly are you asking for here? An item version of the scythe? Pretty sure I would already be using both hands on the current axes... Alcohol is notorious for burning with almost no visible flame, might not be the best fuel for a light source. Sounds like a lamp. Rope ladder would be nice for letting down from the top of a ravine or something, I like it. Spearfishing would be fun. Palisades would be nice for walls if they damaged mobs climbing over them. Yeah, would be nice to burn the wooden stuff that you don't need or want.
  24. Prickled? Like a Cactus? If you are reporting a bug you need to use the Template or they will probably lock the topic. http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/4662-read-before-posting-7910-official-bug-list/
  25. Torch Improvements

You do know that you can relight the torch with another torch and break it to get the original torch back, right? You never loose a torch that is burnt out if you light it again before breaking it.
