      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. What kind of issues are you running into? We have run Dynmap on dozens of servers (Bukkit, Spigot, Forge, Cauldron/KCauldron/Thermos, Sponge) without any game breaking issues related to Dynmap and we're doing some pretty crazy stuff with them.

  2. Do you have any other mods that add biomes installed? Things like: Biomes 'O Plenty or ExtraBiomesXL may conflict with TFC. Try removing such mods.

    Also make sure your server.properties file sais "level-type=DEFAULT". TFC should then automatically override the level-type with it's own level-type.

  3. There are other launchers available that are just as convenient. ATLauncher and the FTB launcher are among the best ones in my opinion and they strictly enforce mod distribution permissions. If you're not allowed to distribute it in public packs, it won't show up on the FTB launcher. Whereas the ATLauncher allows you to download mods directly, thus not breaking distribution permissions. Basically you can include any mod you want in an ATLauncher pack and it will download whatever it can't send you directly.

    From what I can see you were on our server last about a year ago. I don't see any jail records for your uuid and there is no mention of jail time for you in our Warned players and banlist thread. Are you sure you're in jail?

  4. So things got a bit delayed on the TnFC server front. Health issues. Family issues. Other things. You know how life goes. But fret not. The HappyDiggers TnFC server is still in development!

    A bunch of config stuff got done. A suitable spawn area has been found and terraformed. And, of course, the spawn building has been placed there. Tenterro has agreed to help out and build some awesome looking bridges around spawn.

    It won't be long now. Here are some screens to wet your appetite.

  5. Apparently there are two TFC 0.79.29.922 versions floating around. It has been brought to our attention that the TFC devs released a hot fix for this version without increasing the version number. Because of this we've been running a buggy version of TFC for almost two years. But fortunately this has only affected seven and a half thousand TFC players or so who had to use a scythe to harvest their crops. It's not the first time our server had a crazy quirk like that. Remember when we had "black gold" on our server? We'll just chalk this one up as being part of the HappyDiggers TFC charm :)

    Now that we are running the new, same version. Harvesting crops should go a bit better.

  6. As some of you may know I've not been well the past two weeks. Because of that I haven't done much work on the new server (sorry!).

    I've added most of the stuff that needs protecting with Towny and Lockette and am now generating tiles in Dynmap. Once that is done I'll select a location for the spawn building and maze, put it in and get things ready for the testers to join.

    In the mean time, do me a favor and send me your Minecraft in game name so I can add you to the whitelist if you are willing to do test work.

  7. The world is centered on     x: 0.5 z: -14999.5.

    Before we used to have a 100.000 x 100.000 world cetered around x: 0.5 z: 0.5. Most of that world was just wasted disk space. Now we have, what we think, is the most ideal part of the TFC world. There are jungles to the south and frozen wasteland to the north with all of the temperate climate area in between. And if needed we can always expand it horizontally like we did on the FreebieTFC server recently.

  8. Work has begun on a new public HappyDiggers TnFC server. As some of you may know we already host a Donor TnFC server which is currently outdated. The new public server will be replacing the Donor server. And as the name suggests, no donations are required for joining this new server.

    I've generated a 100.000 x 30.000 block world. This took a long time. The server is currently being uploaded and I'll begin the process of setting up all the mods and plugins that we also use for our regular TFC servers. Since it'll be a public server we want it to use a bunch of plugins to make the lives of staff members easier. This means the server will be running on KCauldron and that means quirks and bugs. If you want to get an idea of how we run our public TFC servers, you're welcome to try our current TFC server at tfc.happydiggers.net:4000

    The next step will be to start play testing. Play testing should start in one or two weeks. For this I'm looking for a couple of volunteers. Preferably veterans of the official TnFC server. Play testing means we'll spawn in a bunch of resources and player will have to sprint through the various tech trees to figure out what works and what doesn't. No time for exploration and base building at this stage. Just setting up machines, testing mechanics, that sort of stuff. We'll require people to leave a short summary or report of each play session. Nothing too complicated. Just what you did and if it worked or not: build machine X, tried mechanic Y, etc.

    If anyone's interested please leave a reply and tell us about your experience with TnFC and if you're willing to do boring test work. Again, we are not looking for players at this point. If you want to play TnFC on our server, please be patient.

  9. You may also want to increase the memory allocated for your TFC instance. Right now it seems to be set to 1024MB. If you have the RAM, try setting it to 2048MB or even 4096MB.

    Like TonyLiberatto mentioned. MultiMC really is nice for this soft of thing. You can set memory allocation on a per Minecraft instance basis if you want or even have global settings so each instance would use 4096MB for example.

  10. A bit of bad news...

    It has come to our attention that a lot of towns, even well established ones, are breaking the rules when it comes to town limits. We have rules about how much stuff each town can have:

    • 8 adult animals total. Each animal needs to be in its own 16x16 pen in it own chunk fenced in, the fence can have small sections for gates.
    • 3 plots of tilled soil farmland or berry bushes. This means 768 blocks. They may be in more than three plots, but 768 max. Can be mixed between the two.
    • 8 fruit trees. (All kinds allowed: red apple, green apple, banana, peach, etc.)
    • 1 of each kind of anvil. (copper, bronze, wrought iron, steel, etc.)
    • 2 outposts
    • 1 /sethome point per player


    These rules are there to keep the server running smoothly and to prevent crashes. When we find people breaking these rules we will tell them to remove the excess stuff. If they don't comply promptly they will no face a jail time of 1 hour per item over the limit.

  11. I have begun generating a new world for TechNodeFirmaCraft 3.5. It's very slow going, even slower than TFC. Which makes sense since it's TFC + a ton of other mods :)

    Once the world is done generating I'll start setting up the server instance that is going to run on our server hardware. When that is done we'll need a bunch of people to start play testing to see how much stuff is broken.

    After we migrated the HappyDiggers website to a new platform the TeamSpeak widget broke. For the past couple of months I had been unable to remedy that situation. Yesterday I put in a bunch more hours and finally got it fixed.

    And yes, we still use TeamSpeak. Even though a lot of people enjoy using things like Discord. Reason being that we believe privacy is one of the most precious things that we have and I don't want shady companies to profit from yours. So if you have a conversation with someone, I don't want to sell that data. It's the same reason there aren't any banners on our website.

  14. TFC needs Optifine if you want to play on servers. They go very well together in fact.

    You mention that you also have this issue when only using TFC without Optifine. Which version of TFC are you using? There used to be an issue with TFC where this would happen quite a while ago. Make sure you are using the latest version of TFC and the correct version of Forge.   15. Generating a 100.000 x 100.000 block world takes about 4 weeks on a fast computer. If you want to do roughly a quarter of that (25K x 25K) then be prepared to keep your PC running for about a week or so. Also keep in mind that TFC servers leak memory like a colander when generating a lot of chunks so you'll need to restart the server every few hours. If you do not then chunk generation will go down from 200~500/s to maybe a dozen per second.

    As for servers either growing or dying. Our server seems to have reached some kind of equilibrium. Our servers are visited by roughly 200 individual players who accumulate roughly 60 days worth of non-AFK play time monthly. Last July we saw a distinct peak of 364 days of non-AFK play time but that was probably due to summer holidays.
