      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Body Temperature Mechanics and Implementation

Good point on needing more calories on cold climates.I read that the Eskimos would consume a lot of fat to survive the winter. For the Hat remember that those penalties only kick when over 35C thats 95F and under sunlight.
  2. TerraFirma+ : Animals & Carts

My words: In Real Life you can raise a lion and not having it attack you on sight. Is this the same as domestication in the full sense of the word? No. So for game-play purposes if you can capture an animal and breed, their offspring should by definition be domesticated. The key is game-play, right now it takes a year to breed and raise a cow into a adult animal. So even as I agree that we should not be able to go to a wild auroch and milk it I dont think it should take 3 or 4 generations before we can milk a cow. depending on world seed or if playing on a server sometimes is already hard to get animals. Believe me traveling 1000 blocks on a server (without sleeping) twice so you can get a male and a female is hard enough. So for balancing one generation is enough. But that's just my opinion. There is no right or wrong here you are entitle to your point of view.
  3. Fire setting

I like this but would like to add that black steel should mine at least as fast as vanilla minecraft and blue/red steel should mine as fast as a efficiency enchanted pick. I want more reasons to get to red/blue steel. I think this supper steel should be really fast. ( durability in it self is not reason enough to all the trouble that is to evolve to it.
  4. stoneage, copperage, bronze age way to fast (modified)

One of the things that i like most about TFC is how it made survival more believable. I like the idea of extending the time it takes to evolve from stone age to bronze. I don't really know historically about bronze, but what if you could only smelt bronze with coal instead of wood and needed a copper chisel to create a kiln-pit only with smooth stone? As far as stone age goes I like the idea of hand tools that could not cut trees of course we need sticks for the firepits and to be used as fuel. With the addition of body temperature we need some kind of leather for early game (maybe scraped leather done only with a knife) (We should be able to make a cape to keep body heat and leather strips to finally have handles for the tools. Only stone axes with a handle can cut down trees.
  5. Bellows In Forge/Blast Furnace GUI...

Ok my experience with metallurgy is in games like skyrim and others. But it seems to me that when a smith is smelting or heating up metals he keeps his eye on what he is doing, not on the bellows. Pumping the bellows is a mechanical thing that is done without the smith having to look at it. So having a button inside the blast furnace , bloomery, crucible and forge is a lot more believable than having the player to close the GUI to pump the bellows.
  6. New device: Range: mid-game replacement for fire pit

You should see my tread. It addresses several of this points. http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/6202-better-cooking/
  7. Buckets

I don't think wood buckets should move water sources. I like how realistic is that when choosing a spot to settle your first consideration is how close it is to water. That's how all civilizations behave. I think we should be able to fill wood buckets and jugs from flowing water and also water should flow farther then 8 blocks so we could have a more efficient irrigation system. Maybe even the creation of aqueducts?
  8. I like the idea of having cobble as a construction material back in the game. I like the idea that it would be affected by gravity so only vertical structures. I like the idea of crafting using mortar. Yes In Real Life we have some huge old constructions made with dry stone alone, but the civilizations that build then had metal tools. I don't think stone age men build castles. prehistoric buildings were made of adobe or wood. So if you want to build with cobble advance enough at least to have a saw. That said I think adobe blocks should be added for early game purpose. but only for vertical structures
  9. TerraFirma+ : Animals & Carts

I like the idea of domestication but I don't think it should take more then one generation. In Real Life you can raise a lion and not having it attack you on sight. Is this the same as domestication in the full sense of the word? No. But it only takes one generation for dogs to be wild again if they are not raised by men. So for game-play purposes if you can capture an animal and breed, their offspring should by definition be domesticated. People raise snakes. (disgusting) do you think there is any genetic domestication on those snakes ? If you get a baby animal in most cases you will be able to domesticate then. I also think it would be easier to code then having to slowly curtain aggressiveness on several generations.
  10. Farming

Yeah you right. Like I said I live in Florida no snow here. I was thinking on a way for people to be able to keep their crops warm in the winter maybe by diverting water from hot springs to wet and heat up the crops. But the more I think about the more I realize that it is not believable. What we need is better storing for the food that we already produce so we can survive the winter. What if tie to the decaying system a maximum time of 1 year or 6 months So whatever you stockpile for one winter will not be good for the next. I think it would be a way to achieve believable with game play balance.
  11. Apiculture ...* And more soon *...

At first I proposed the area of effect to be one chunk but after this: I have to agree one colony should be able to benefit several chunks
  12. Better Cooking [updated again!]

    Thank you very much
  13. More Wildlife, And A More Realistic Hunting Aspect

I specially like the idea of sneaking when hunting as a way to get closer to the prey. I should include that once you hit an animal with a spear it should die. So at the same time that I think hunting should be harder ( the only deer that does not run from humans is the american one where we actually have a problem with deer over population. I believe deer on the time in question were a lot afraid of men.) I think if you successfully hit a animal with a spear or arrow it should die or at least get slowness. Animals should run away from you on first sight, unless you are sneaking. Also they should not let you get close enough to be hit with a melee weapon no matter how good you can sneak. (this kind of weapon was only used when hunting in groups). There is a tread about changing the mechanics of trowing spears that I think would go together with this one it also talks about trowing rocks http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/3776-a-few-suggestions-on-stone-age-weapons/
  14. Better Cooking [updated again!]

I would really appreciate if you could contribute with details to the topic. If you message me I can include then on the OP. I am a terrible writer so I have a real hard time trying to structure the ideas in a concise way. Also if someone could help with a few designs it would be great.
  15. Farming

To be honest I hate snow so much in real life that i cannot stand to it even in the game. The only good snow is the one around my beer in the fridge. The first thing I do when starting a new world or server is to travel closer to the equator so I don't have to deal with it. My question was about hot springs in real life, like the ones in Yellowstone park. I have never seen a hot spring in a snow environment in real life. So can anyone tell me if they heat up an area around that makes possible for plants to survive the winter? Again I am talking about Real Life. I hear so many people complaining about losing their crops to snow winter, It happened to me once. The next winter found me a lot closer to the equator.
  16. Question about food preservation and beyond

I love this Idea and just would suggest that you should start a suggestion topic with it. I think it would be a great addition to the game. Totally inside the Age of the Game.
  17. Farming

I dont know about lava but maybe we could have hot springs heat up and area enough to prevent crops popping out. I have never seen a hot spring in a snow place in real life. Can anyone tell me how do plants behave close to a hot spring IRL?
  18. Better Cooking [updated again!]

That could work. I don't think I should care too much about every single detail. In the end thats what this posts should be about. If everybody contribute with ideas and suggestions we can help the devs figure out what works and what would be worth the time to code into the game.
  19. I really would like to play this server but any time I see PVP I got chills on my spyne. Specially on a Terrafirmacraft server where is so hard to make tools and armor, The last time I try to play on a PVP server i had some dumb kids ambushing me and stealing all my tools weapons and armor so many times that I just rage quit. Terrafirmacraft is about colaboration. Would you reconsider the PVP notion? I cant understand what is the appeal for someone after working hard and finally getting his first copper tool just to have it stolen by someone else.
  20. More stable straw

  21. Better Cooking [updated again!]

I found that old copper pans had a lining of Tin and over time it had to be re-coat usually once a year. maybe that would give us one more reason to upgrade to iron.
  22. Better Cooking [updated again!]

Ok I concede. Upon some research I found that copper was actually used for pans and pots. before the invention of the gas burner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cookware_and_bakewareandhttp://www.whatmyhomewants.com/the-history-of-copper-cookware/ The problem with copper is that it can poison the food specially if cooking acidic things like tomatoes. Now we just have to think how to include copper and bronze cookware in the technology tree. More research show that we actually had copper braziers. I haven't found a copper oven. Maybe we should remember that stone ovens to this day are still in use in pizzerias and restaurants. The main advantage of the combo stove oven iron cast was in how well it could control the fire and smoke. Needing less maintenance then the stone and mortar ones.
  23. Braziers -heating (and cooking)

Following your advice I started a topic called Cooking Mechanics Overhaul I would really appreciate your input on the subject http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/6196-cooking-mechanics-overhaul/
  24. Spices and seasoning: improving meals

I like the idea of seasoning the meals with herbs and salt. I would add to have a different way to plant then. I know in real life you can have a vegetable garden on the soil and include herbs but for gameplay purposes we could make it so once seeds are obtained we would need to plant then in some kind of pot just to have a different mechanic to the production of herbs. I really like the idea of improving the meal quality by adding seasoning.( one or two slots )
