      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord ( is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Hey All, Some basic rules for posting a texture pack are as follows: If your work is based off of someone else's work you must include credit to the next immediate author.Provide comprehensive screenshots to display all of the active alterations your texture pack provides.Provide a download link that does not require login in order to access.Your texture pack must not give unintended advantages to players.Clarifications:You only need to cite the person your work is immediately based off of, not all the people that their work may be based off of as well.Unintended advantages are defined as: Allow the player to see beyond what they would normally be capable of.
  3. Rules for posting Texture Packs

    The spoiler tags would work perfectly. As to your questions I would say reference the website is fine there instead of the individual images. When the count is low from a site I would see it as like referencing an article in a magazine, its not a problem to say that article from that magazine (that photo from that site). When its referencing a large quantity (not necessarily a large proportion) from a single source then it would seem ok to say as found in a location, more of using an entire book's information instead of a chapter of it. The multiple textures question is a bit more of a Hmmmm... One of my fav vanilla mod packs is Misa's mod pack which has well like you said, almost a hundred for each texture type to show variation. I would say pick a few to show (no more than four, as it is just a preview) and then leave the rest to text like 'Added in a new dozen quartz textures' or some such. Maybe keep a running total for the variations some where. As for the quick response.. Kitty is very responsive on the forums and snags us as needed if we are taking too long. This just happens to be a post thread I am subscribed to because people deserve a quick response on something like this

    You should be able to leave the settings at default to get a TFC world. World regeneration is just completely redone (as it is/was my understanding). I've not had to change things over.

    So yeah, like the title says the ability to craft food in replacement or addition to the alchemy of the game. Might be neat to make processing raw resources to produce more food or longevity of food better.. Like jerky instead of steak. that really hard bread that lasts forever instead of a loaf of french bread. Butter for the bread? who knows.

    This seems like something to be lumped in in general with water ideas but oceans being salt water and not being useful for consumption, growth of crops, etc just seems like a logical step.

    Confirmed that this has at least been pendingly addressed. I can always unlock it after release again but for now its a wait and see
  12. Horse meat

    Horses are not breeding machines. They are only fertile half of a year (half of spring and fall and all of summer) and are not a good source of food because of that. It is not practical to breed horses especially when in the real world they cost so much to purchase and maintain. Those costs are not present in TFC but I am sure something will be worked out to while they can be eaten and no adverse effect should granted to the player, it simply does not make sense to .. But you actually have to be able to put them to good use. Avi will see to it that things are balanced out in the long run but it still makes no sense to try and force people to play how You want them to play. I have always been around I spend most of my time moderating the IRC channel and then coming on here to snap close forum topics that have become a detriment to the system.   13. Tribes with A.I. Controlled Characters

    Alright guys I am leaving this post here in its form as a bit of a warning/example. You may be wondering why I did not simply delete and remove all posts like I have done before to clean up a topic that has gone way way off topic.. The simple fact of the matter is this. We expect you to use this particular part of the forums for being suggestive BUT ON TOPIC of the mod and things for it. What I am not going to do THIS time and THIS time only is give every person who has a deleted post up there 5 warning points PER POST (And guess what happens to people who fill up their warning bar?). This takes time out of my life because people feel here is the time and place to waste time in their lives. Go poke around the other forums, go chat on IRC, go do something. But do not clutter up posts here to the point of uselessness. If you would like to talk to me about this then by all means hop into the IRC.. Any PM's on the forums, even apologies, will simply be ignored... again refer to time wasted remarks up above.

    Hello All Just my two cents, in a little list. 1) Food is food, you can eat whatever you want and unless that whatever you want is outright poisionus then nothing should happen adversely to you. Horsemeat is a concentrated protein like any other kind of meat out there. 2) The adverse effects of eating this meat are what they are. If this bugs you you feel bad. There is no reason as to why the game should enforce something like this. I am not sure why it would make anyone feel better that you have negative status effects for eating something in a game when it does not give you a bad one when out of the game. To sum my two pointed two cents up, the game should be made open for many ways to choose how to play it and not be skewed towards any one play style just because that is how You choose to play it. Will I eat horses? Nope. But if I got into a crappy random world where nothing but horses spawned and all the oceans and rivers dried up? You bet your ass I would. Because its a game and that is the world the game provided me to try and survive within. Lets not limit what we are capable of.. removing functionality from a game just seems... stupid to me.

  16. Crossbows

    A new ranged weapon type that uses bolts instead of arrows. The main difference between the mechanics of the bow and the crossbow would be that a crossbow is already in the fire state then needs to be reloaded instead of a bow being drawn back and released.. This would make your movement slow while reloading but not inherently slow while aiming. Same as what should be done to bows the different types of wood should be considered for the bow and stock of the cross bow with different characteristics. reeds and twigs could be used for the bolts along with fletching (god we need more than spy chickens for this) and then some way to make different tiered arrow heads and the like. A secondary consideration that would just be 'kewl' factor would be dual wielding hand versions of the cross bows
  17. Easier way of making charcoal?

    1 and 2 are an annoying old argument that should not even be used as talking points any more and just ignored when people bring them up. What I do want to comment on though are 3 4 5 6 and 7. Everything progresses in the game and its what people strive to do all the time.. Can you eat raw meat? Sure it will keep ya going, but we figure out how to cook it and store it so our effort can have a much longer lasting effect and we do not have to constantly be looking for food all the time. We should be seeing a progression in that same area in everything we try and do so there is a sense of accomplishment. That would be the reason to have a progression mechanic for charcoal much like there is for everything else that is already in TFC.. You start out with your hand stone tools and progress into longer and longer lasting metals. You start off cooking over a fire or eating raw meat to eventually farming so you dont have to follow the herds and are then able to produce more and more food with less and less effort. Charcoal currently has no mechanic that moves forward with it. We are never given a way to even do something as simple as reduce the varriance in what is produced say with something like a clay kiln for making the charcoal in.. I think what you missed is that these forums are for fleshing out ideas like this, not making ordered lists that only have 2 entries in them despite the implied numbering and blowing them off. Just my two cents.
  18. If you are running minecraft on Normal with no texture packs and are getting <30FPS then I would say your computer is on the low end of processing power.
  19. For what it is worth, extending the height of the world by another 128 pretty much makes the game unplayable by most low end machines, which seem to be prolific in the minecraft area. If Cubic Chunks ever moves forward again and it gets integrated into TFC then you can be assured this sort of thing should happen As for the issues about world gen. I do not think by any means that the world gen is finished so do not frett about that. Bioxx tries to get most of his current-needed World Gen done at once (As was see in the last set of updates where we now have oceans that are OMG big).

    Hey All! We are looking to do another UHC match this coming weekend. It will be run the same way as the last one, survive for 3 hours then meet for a battle royale at the end. When: Sat Oct 6th, 10am PST Rules are 1) No branch mining 2) You -must- be recording (special exceptions can be made for this) 3) No teaming up (Unless we are doing teams explicitly) 4) Match will run for a max of 3 hours and then a call will go out to return to origin and battle it out 4a) People are expected to enter the battle, if you willy nilly about you will be removed from the running.   23. Bring back water saturation

    in SSP this is fine but this is like so many other things that happen over time and how horrible they translate into SMP. I have to say simplifying farming a bit in this manner makes sense to me.
