      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. New smileys for the forum!

    This is stupid.
  2. Why not remove shitty vanilla mobs? And magic.

I agree with a lot and disagree with some. I think all hostile vanilla mobs except zombies and skeletons should be removed, and even those should be tweaked a lot. More hostile animals would be amazing, boars and aurochs and the like are confirmed. I don't see why we need to be constrained to the Nether and End, either. The Nether is a kind of generic "Hell" type world and could be tweaked a whole lot to fit TFC. The End, on the other hand, isn't necessary at all as it's part of Minecraft's story/progression and should definitely be removed or come back as a completely different thing. Magic(enchanting/brewing) will hopefully get completely rehauled eventually, as I wouldn't really want to see all fantastical elements removed from the game, just changing them or introducing suitable replacements is good enough.
  3. Things That Are Too Easy

    1. This is interesting. Maybe we could have a whole new crafting table with tiers? The first tier would be made with some wood and stone tools, and you would upgrade it with metal tools and other things(maybe even a multi-block, multipurpose artisan's table??). 2. Beds are fine as they are. 3. Javelin is total garbage, like it should be. The fact that they don't stack and are only sometimes retrievable makes them not worth using in the long run. 4. All of these have been suggested countless times. Most of them have been confirmed. If traps get implemented, they'll work with real mobs. Fishing is already being rehauled to have actual mobs. Killing food isn't too easy, you're being ridiculous. Animals aren't hard to kill. Spearing something with a javelin doesn't make it unfit for eating, either. MAKING a javelin out of metal eliminates the purpose of the javelin, which is supposed to be a stone-age ranged weapon.
  4. Chest size fix.

If you know what you're doing, you would know that balance and being enjoyability go hand in hand. Nobody wants to play a mod that's too easy or too hard.
  5. a year

I'm pretty sure EVERYONE keeps their animals in a pen.
  6. Chest size fix.

If you're not even going to bother looking at the other side of an argument, then why argue at all?
  7. Chest size fix.

Listen, if you're still thinking the smaller chest size is a bad feature, then you still haven't adjusted your play style to fit it. I play on an SMP server with about 8 people. Our "dedicated storage area" only has ten or so double chests. That's one for plants, one for food, two for rocks, two for dirt, two for gems, one for bricks and smoothstone, and one for miscellaneous garbage. That isn't all of our storage though. We have chests all over, near where their contents are needed. Our bloomery has the same amount of chests as our storage room: two double chests for ore and the rest for smelted bars, coal, and molds. We're always burning logs and only cut down trees as we need to build with planks, so storing wood is never a problem. Everyone also has their own "personal" storage, so we can store random stuff we've made/commonly use in our own chests when we're not using it. One thing we've realized is that storage inane garbage like stacks of one dirt/stones and useless items like flowers is ridiculously silly. Storage clutter is storage clutter, no reason to keep it. Optimize your stacks, get rid of clutter, and suddenly the new chest size isn't an issue at all.
  8. realistic sounding waterfalls?

More atmospheric sounds have been planned for vanilla for ages, but just like every other promised feature can we really expect Mojang to add them any time soon? I'd like more atmosphere in TFC, but you might have to use other mods to get what you want in that department.
  9. Make beds buildable rather than craftable?

I'd definitely like to see beds crafted a different way, but going into complex features with them isn't needed. There are bolts of fabric and colored beds in the game, though, but they're currently unobtainable.
  10. About construction changes possibility

Did you read Bioxx's post on construction? He said that even though you'll have to build rock by rock and plank by plank, construction won't take ridiculously long to do. So you won't expect building a house to take ingame days to complete. In addition, you can't really criticize a system that hasn't been made yet, either.
  11. Feedback - Fairin style!

butchery is confirmed, animals will be butcher-able for much more meat
  12. Keys to protect all your goodies

    Yes please.
  13. About construction changes possibility

Building a city with one person is a tedious task, even in vanilla minecraft. If that's what you want to do, play creative(which is intended for building, as mentioned above), or SMP, where you have other people to help you build. I don't know about everyone else, but with the planned construction changes building a house will go from a regular task to something you get a lot of self-satisfaction out of for completing. Building a palace in vanilla is one thing, but building a palace with TFC's planned construction is something completely different.
  14. Dual-metal ores, how to handle these?

Don't worry, the bloomery smelts out both metals and you can alternate molds to get both.
  15. Religion

You should just close the thread, dunk.
  16. Kimberlite ores

    Never said it was.
  17. Color of ores?

The ore textures are actually the "vein" looking part overlayed on the correct stone layer they're found in. I think the actual color of the vein will vary, too, depending on what stone they're on. It's a perfectly intentional effect so that ores look more natural.
  18. Storage woes

I love the idea of the bin, but it would work a lot better as a specialized storage method. It could be limited to dirt, stone, and ores, perhaps. I can imagine having a few bins full of the stones I use the most, outside and ready for construction projects, and a bin or two outside a bloomery for inputting ore. I think the shelf should be able to store maybe stacks of 8 or so items under a certain size threshold that can be inferred by the player. Flowers/gems/etc would be good indicators of what size items would fit there, like you said. These are both great ideas, and perfect for the plan of moving away from generalized storage like chests.
  19. a year

Changing the rate of time forces players to modify their play styles to accommodate the change. Changing the color of grass is a tiny tweak that has no bearing on anything.
  20. a year

It's a significant change to the game.
  21. a year

I think a fictional month system like in DF would be pretty neat. Maybe 10/8 months with 2.5/2 month seasons?
  22. Kimberlite ores

Kimberlite is the only mineral that drops diamond gems. Diamonds are currently useless, however.
  23. Religion

EternalUndeath, have you never played a game with a pantheon of deities? It's not really as ridiculous and outlandish as you make it out to be. Just look at DCSS for example, or pretty much any roguelike ever. I can see where OP's coming from, but it would need to be a completely different feature to work. Edit: It seems everyone is taking this the wrong way which is ludicrous and extremely childish in a way. The OP isn't trying to convert you to Christianity, and he's not saying you get loads of free, valuable loot for worshiping a deity.
  24. Feedback - Fairin style!

    1. A year in-game is about 120 hours. One day is 20 minutes, that makes a month about 10 hours. A season is three months. You can press N to open the calendar. The fruit tree harvest times are on the wiki if you really need them. If your server isn't consistently up that might be the source of trouble. 2. They are useless right now, but butchery is going to be added(meaning insane corpse looting), so don't get rid of them just yet. 3. That's just your luck, I'm sorry to say. 4. No. You're just unlucky, the game shouldn't be tailored to you, etc. 5. Both marble and limestone are common flux stones, and they occur in layers(not veins), just like every other stone. This is also just your bad luck, I suppose. 6. The reduced chest size is supposed to encourage you to keep what you need and increase item value. If you have a 100 chest storehouse you're doing something wrong. Try optimizing your storage. For the weird unnumbered question, no, you don't have to regen the world if you're going from build 44 to 45. Updating is perfectly safe. Hope this answers your questions.
