      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Hmmm .. I can't see a big issue with that, just please make it reasonably "period"
  2. Kingdoms Brainstorming

I've never seen that comic before ! It's a nice reversal on the typical "LOL LOOK HOW IGNORANT DEMS AMERICANS ARE HUR HUR" I am European and even I know that the "Ignorance" is not any more or less pervasive over there than it is here
  3. Enchantment system

If it hasn't been de-railed, it isn't worth the bandwidth it's hosted on
  4. Scorched ground

Would still prefer salting It's way way way too abusable though :/
  5. The Poles Distance Poll

You're right, there needs to be a lot of changes. Here are just a few of them (which I envision) Carts to increase carry capacity to very large levels, meaning you can make efficient trade runs over long distances (the catch would be carts couldn't go up or down whole blocks so you would need to build roads) Regional specific items, ores and other resources (e.g. whale oil in the north, fruit from the equator) Increased difficulty in crafts (make skilled craftsmen more valuable and worth trading with) The need for clothes (would encourage farmers to farm sheep, would be easier in northern areas etc.) That is just a small part of my vision for trading. I would make a suggestion (maybe I should ?) but I'm not sure if it merits Dunk/Bioxx's attention as it involves a lot of changes :/
  6. Ore Tiers

It is to do with a simple fact: Bioxx (who was the one who forbid it, not Dunk) doesn't want this game turning into a "numbers game". It's no fun that way :S I like the mystery, it gives the game a more immersive feel than old minecraft had where there was statistics about EVERYTHING.
  7. The Poles Distance Poll

Thats what I want to change though. I hope that eventually, people will say, "man, I really need to go to that town 5k away, better pack some provisions etc," .. I know this is a very specialist desire and not much of the community wants it, but I do feel it is in keeping with the direction the mod seems to be taking :/
  8. I'm not bad at skins, but I don't really have the time to make any :/ I am going to sort my own and would be happy to donate my current skin which is appropriate, but I doubt I could contribute much more than that. On a related note, I was hoping to map the server periodically, but the only mapping programme I know of which I could adapt for TFC is Tectonicus and I don't have the time to write up a config for every single new TFC block :S Too little time for anything useful it seems :S
  9. No dynastys here yet .. The players will establish those as they play If you can get people to follow you, starting an empire will be easy
  10. Devils advocate here, theft is allowed on my server as long as it is one faction stealing from another and not individuals stealing from each other, but griefing is banned. That said, on a normal server I don't think there is any question that theft is wrong.
  11. Kingdoms Brainstorming

No way o.o .. That is odd
  12. Anyone seen a deer yet?

But it has been confirmed as an accidental bug by Dunk who actually made the deer. It's not intended as a "stop gap deer hide", it's an artifact from the fact deer were programmed based on sheep. I don't really see where the discussion lies here ?
  13. Kingdoms Brainstorming

One. Say it to yourself, you don't say sloo-is you say sloos, even with very poor pronunciation I would be surprised if you managed to alter the number of audible syllables in a word
  14. The Poles Distance Poll

I don't think this would be very popular with the community. Having the anvils is already quite a barrier as making the "next anvil up" is quite difficult. I'm not a fan mate, sorry :/
  15. A Question of Motivation Relating to Trade

Yeah, I don't really think some minerals need changed, I am referring to the more common base minerals (e.g. Iron, Copper, Zinc, Tin)
  16. Anyone seen a deer yet?

Not really .. The two are very fundamentally different in that wool is a fiber with no hide attached to the back of it. Here is a list of things you can do with wool that you can't do with deer hide: Make string, stuff matresses/pillows/anything else you can think of, make felt, make cloth (felt and cloth are different) Here's things you could do with a deer hide you couldn't do with wool: Make leather, make a boat, make a wineskin, use as rudimentary fireproofing (when made into leather) They are similar in that they both represent an animal product usable for certain things in common (e.g. insulation of the body), but they aren't the same, not even close. You may as well tell me that iron and copper are the same because you can use them both for a lot of similar things.
  17. Keeping in mind the spawn is supposed to be a smashed boat and a few temporary shelters on the beach it won't be legit or even TFC wood. This is to give the new world an air of "totally new and alien" to the point where even the wood is different Everything else will be 100% absolutely legit Also, the moderators are to play as regular players. There will be no item spawning at all so they will be just like you
  18. Kingdoms Brainstorming

That was re-assuring I've been worried we are underequipped, but evidently not as badly as I thought Now that I think about it, it's probably worth making a new set of tongs as the ones we have are just awful (we adapted a set of pliers ) Re the coke, that is what we do with the coal right now, but if charcoal is no cleaner then we will just stick with the coal as it is often cheaper and easier to buy coal than it is to get ahold of decent amounts of wood here (we really have serious problems in the UK facing the craftsman, especially in Scotland :/)
  19. Just for anyone interested - I will be purchasing the server space tomorrow/friday (probably friday). This is so I can get it all set up and working in time for everyone starting on Sunday Additionally, I will be opening the server as soon as it is up to the following people - ECC, ArthurDent, ScooterDanny, myself (obviously) and Anzoon (if you want to know why, these people effectively founded the server with me in that they contributed heavily to it's rules ect.) With early entry, you are welcome/asked to help build the spawn area. Once that is completed, feel free to play as normal. If your name is on that list I will mail you the I.P as soon as it is feasible Everyone else- Presuming everything goes to plan, I will post the I.P of the server on the OP on Sunday. We will be un-whitelisted until the next update comes out (as it will adjust map gen and require a reset). Don't get too precious about your possessions during this fortnight. Any bans during this period will be upheld afterwards, so don't be a dick To everyone who has already filled an application - I will go through the apps and note down all of the IGN's of applicants so far. You will be added to the whitelist once it exists. I may also give you some kind of reward for applying so early, though I'm not sure what (It won't be big, probably some food or torches or something )
  20. Kingdoms Brainstorming

Me and my friend (co-investor in the anvil and other equipment since we're both skint ) were thinking of moving to a hairdrier which would be similar to your air mattress blower I think The leaf blower is great for giving a lot of heat (We once melted a steel crucible in an open air forge when trying to melt copper for a casting :S) but we really need to manage it carefully because it generates too much heat for smithing :S I was thinking about lumpwood charcoal (I know briquettes are useless ). I don't really have the funds to get ahold of perl coal, so I'm stuck with whatever is cheap and available unfortunately. The fact that few people have coal fires here doesn't help either, meaning 90% of the time we have to do a wee bit of traveling to find any fuel which isn't briquettes Thanks for the tip re the tools ! We have a ball-pein and a cross pein-hammer and you are definitely right, as we had to use a regular 3lb hammer for a while. The cross pein is much better I have a terrible habit of swinging the hammer (due to the fact I'm a powerlifter and I always try use brute force when skill and patience would serve me far better :S) so I will keep that in mind Just as a point of interest, what tools would you consider essential for a reasonably equipped smith ? Right now all we have is a ball pein hammer, cross pein hammer, a few chisels, a few punches and a set of flat tongs. Oh, and of course an anvil We try and opt for powered options (namely because we are lazy pricks ), but we will be building a foot powered portable forge at some point soon as we are both re-enactors and need a portable forge which will work without electrical power Unfortunately, coke is not very commonly available where I live. I've basically got a choice between lumpwood charcoal and regular coal :/
  21. Ships!!

I can't really remember and can't be arsed going back to check .. All I know is that I am not to blame I think some guy took my comment about iridium coated diamonds then asked how much diamond crap with gold "corn" would be worth .... Nothing as queer as folk it seems :S
  22. Length of Day(light)

I think this would make things pretty interesting. Surviving in a northern climate would be more difficult and, as you approached the arctic circle, you could encounter a "30 days of night" style experience
  23. A Question of Motivation Relating to Trade

It's worth noting that I amn't necessarily talking about huge distances. Maybe if we were able to find all resources in a 10k x 10k map that would be more than enough to create a trade based server
  24. The Poles Distance Poll

Curse you Lumi ! I spent two hours reading tropes before I got back to writing this reply >.< Hmm .. The idea of redstone being piezo electric is interesting I think you're right though .. Either we need some schizo tech or at least horses otherwise the world may get too large :S
