      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

bioxx is out of his mind if he thinks keeping combat simple is going to save this mod from over-designing. The forging system turns what should be a fairly simple concept (albeit not too easy) into a serious pain in the ass and now he's saying that modifying combat would prevent it from being SIMPLE? Maybe I could take that seriously if he took out the forging GUI and replaced it wiith something simpler. Dont get me wrong I actually like the forging system (though every single one of my minecraft playing friends hate it, its the reason they refuse to play TFC AT ALL), but my point is, be consistent, if you are content making the crafting system fairly involved and complex, then why should you be unwilling to do the same with weapons and combat except for unfounded and unreasoned personal bias?
  2. mobs excessively difficult to kill

apparently you didnt read my post, I mentioned javelins: I could not obtain sticks due to complete lack of trees. traveling to find trees inevtiably resulted in my dying before I found any and respawning , again, in an area with zero trees. it ALSO means NO KNIVES NO AXES ETC.(because... NO STICKS) Bioxx, your change to combat HP/etc is coming DANGEROUSLY close to making this mod completely unplayable on some seeds, and seriously problematic even on good ones. You might be killing your mod popularity in the long run if you dont do something about it. At LEAST let us throw stones as a weapon until we find trees, otherwise we cannot defend ourselves at all. (either that or give us a way to make bedding that doesnt involve wood, or some other way of securing a spawn point.)
  3. Visual Lag in Maximized game on linux

once it lags, it stays lagged and gets worse
  4. Visual Lag in Maximized game on linux

I dont know if this is TFC specific for sure or not, but if I run the game maximized it very quickly begins to have visual lag, if I put it back into normal non-maximized mode, this lag dissapears. This doesnt ordinarily happen, so I suspect it has something to do with TFC. --edit: it also appears to happen in minimized mode, the bug goes away after a reszie for a few minutes but then comes back. Currently experiencing the issue in build 59
  5. Flew up to see one, very very stark and sudden shift to snow at the "border", could something be done to mix this up a bit so it doesnt just look like a straight line across the terrain? http://kotoro.com/images/2012-10-31_14.49.39.png
  6. A multi-OS minecraft mod manager & launcher

Are any of you lurker guys C++ or java programmers? If you're willing to donate some time to this, I'd be glad to have the help. Currently trying to figure out why the sessions cannot be refreshed (first login works for a given user, afterwards all fail on that user until program dies.) REMINDER: This is intended to be compiled by GNU C++ compiler and it is written to be handled by auto-tools, meaning even if you're going to compile it on windows, you have to be using MINGW within a CYGWIN or MSYS shell. Personally I use MSYS/mingw. It is NOT expected to compile using any other compiler, especially microsoft visual C/C++ compilers. If you still want to brute force a compile without using the makefiles, you'll have to compile the library dependencies, refer to the configure.ac and various makefiles to figure out the build order and dependencies.
  7. https://sourceforge....inecraftmodman/ I've gotten the launcher to work with servers so far, but even that is still a bit buggy as its still alpha code. The patching aspect for the jars should work for both clients & servers, but currently you'll have to transplant the new jar to a working client installation. I am currently working on the codebase for the client launcher. I'm going to attempt to use the JNI library to load minecraft rather than use multmc's method of launching it via a java-coded launcher, but that may take a bit of time to implement. I may add a third table for mod codebases that do not maintain separate versions for server/client, but until I see a reason for doing otherwise I'll be keeping the separate lists for client/server. (I suspect that even with the merge, some mods may keep certain functions off the server and maintain different releases). Currently i'm implementing the login session && files-updating codebase, I will be writing it as a standalone launcher at first similarly to how multimc's java launcher worked (it will take command line args and launch based from a location in that manner). Once that codebase works reliably I'll be transplanting the code back into the mod-manager to launch the client there, if possible. If it needs to remain a separate program to properly capture the output streams of the jvm, then I won't mind leaving it as a separate executable.
  8. Spambot got into bug tracker

its been putting random bullshit into your bug trackers as notes.
  9. Hidden Fun Stuff

How about make anvils respond to gravity? piston + anvil = hilarious acme joke waiting to happen
  10. Packs and Inventory management

I think this is exactly the purpose, and for the way TFC is going I think there isnt really anything wrong with this.
  11. Meteors

I think it would be pretty interesting to include radioactive deposits like uranium and such, that give you radiation poisoning of increasing strength the longer you stay too close to it (or carry it around for that matter). No real reason to mine it as you can't use it with stone/bronze/iron age tech, but still would add some additional risk to mining, and KNOWING whats around you. It could fit with this meteor crater theme, as you could make them dangerous to mine by having them contain these rare elements.
  12. A little romantic suggestion about hostile mobs spawning.

IRL many black bears are afraid of cats, no reason for that shit either, but it happens.
  13. Quality of Foods / GMO/ Organic etc.

you guys were having a lively discussion about this in the farming post, so have it out here
  14. Wood/Logs

better to build a structure over your wood storage than to try to make a sheet to keep it dry.
  15. Wood/Logs

    uhhh......nylon? synthetic fibers without factories?
  16. Dragons, ideas. community collaberation page

I imagine hydra brains are fairly small, so I'd think # of heads has less to do with it, it only has one body after all.
  17. Hidden Fun Stuff

that would be a hilarious mob for a separate mod, I would love it actually. ( the kool-aid guy)
  18. dont sweat it, its nothing compared to qualifying exams & grant writing (in a PHD program).
  19. For EternalUndeath, Treyflix, Srgnoodles

    delorted
  20. Quality of Foods / GMO/ Organic etc.

has a short mention of organic produce testing, but is also worth watching in general
  21. Creeps

    whats a dr who?
  22. Dragons, ideas. community collaberation page

Anne Mccaffrey, I lurve you. Planet Earthlike Resources Negligible
  23. Creeps

I think endermen should be removed from minecraft itself. The idea smacks of racism to me. huge black men come into your house and steal anything that isnt tied down, are afraid of water (don't bathe), and try to kill you if you look them in the eyes.
  24. Woodcutting, and charcoal.

libertarian is a political party. Basically the platform is to get government out of telling ppl what to do if activity doesnt infringe on other person's rights. so: legalizing drugs etc, but not murder or slavery.

" I have lethal allergies to nuts (Which are in far more things than most people realize)." This isn't AS genetic as you might think, though there ARE clearly some genetic components to it. It has more to do with epigenetics and environmental conditions that lead your immune system to the strange conclusion that nuts are the enemy. Your immune system is like the boy that cried wolf and then subsequently believed himself and dives into the basement down the staircase whenever a car backfires or a door slams. Srsly there hasn't really been a definitive genetic profile very strongly associated with the tendency for formation of allergies, if this were a strongly genetic phenomenon it wouldn't be that hard with modern sequencing to at least find a handful of SNPs that associate with the condition. It is at best a severely polygenic trait, with strong susceptibility to environmental influence. (Which are the hardest traits to pin down with population studies.) One clue as to why allergies exist: the immune cells that mediate allergies also are the group of white blood cells that usually attack parasites or other multicelluar eukaryotic pathogens. In our clean modernized society, these cells don't get tempered and trained by experience as much as they used to, due to our relative lack of parasitic infections.
