ATTENTION Forum Database Breach 03/04/2019
There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again. -
This forum is now READ ONLY! 01/20/2020
As of this post and forever into the future this forum has been put into READ ONLY MODE. There will be no new posts! A replacement is coming SoonTM . If you wish to stay up-to-date on whats going on or post your content. Please use the Discord or Sub-Reddit until the new forums are running.
Any questions or comments can be directed to Claycorp on either platform.

[78.8 and 78.10] Ice formed from fresh water reverts to salt water when broken
zoran posted a topic in Support
Version Number: 78.8 and 78.10 Description: After ice forms from fresh water during the winter, if it is broken it will turn into salt water instead of fresh water, making fresh water sources scarce and not renewable. It does not seem to turn into fresh water if it thaws naturally either. This could be severe if the player runs out of fresh water sources, and would require the world to be regenerated to fix it all, unless you moved to a new location. I have not deleted my config files and attempted to reproduce the bug yet. -
Huh, well that's real nice to know. Honestly, that's not what I got out of reading the OP at all, my mistake. it seemed more like either a plea for attention or begging for compatibility which, if I understand correctly, is far from being looked at. And that wasn't what it was about, I am sorry that I misunderstood. If you had said that after I asked how I was supposed to contribute it really would have cleared things up, but as I said I guess that was a misunderstanding. Not pinning the blame on you though, most of this is my fault anyways. And when I stated my opinions on techmods, I still thought you were leaving, and I was misinformed about their mechanics, but I was just trying to give you an argument to try to convince your server with, if you wanted them to like TFC more. I found your response rude and needlessly hostile, and I figured I'd explain why I thought you were leaving, and I realize that you aren't leaving. I really came off as ass though, I'm sorry for that. And I had no knowledge that you've been referred here by the suggestion forums, I just thought that would be a more appropriate place to suggest having enhanced compatibility, so sorry for getting on you about that. But compatibility is really tough, especially when TFC is still growing and changing. And the fact that TFC rewrites a lot of the basic functions of vanilla minecraft, instead of building on it like a lot of other mods do. So I figured here wasn't the place. Again, sorry. But I still don't think that I showed up with a "completely misinformed with an inflammatory knee-jerk response and distinct lack of care", as I don't consider asking for clarification of your topic to be rude, or inflammatory at all, and stating my opinions are practically the opposite of flaming, especially when I point out that I respected what I thought your opinions were. Anyways, I certainly won't make that mistake again. But yeah, compatibility would be really neat. Dunk said they might (and you can't take things dunk says as fact) try some steam engine type stuff, so that might at least enhance the tech of the mod enough to keep you interested in TFC, and the server might agree to it.

Wow, okay. Cut the tough shit attitude. There's no need to be rude about it, if you're going to act like a cunt maybe it's better if you do leave, I certainly won't miss you. Maybe we had a little bit of a misunderstanding, lets look back and see how this could have happened. You've been gone from TFC, and it's probably going to stay like that. And would you look at that, you've got to make a choice between TFC and techmods. So let's get this straight, you've been gone for a while, you have to make the choice between TFC and techmods, 10% of the time you're not going to choose TFC, and on top of that, the TITLE says "Leaving TFC". If that doesn't say "I'm not going to be playing TFC for a while" (also known as 'leaving') I don't know what does. So remember when I said "you're leaving TFC" and you decided it was justified to act like a jerk, maybe, just maybe you made it seem that you were leaving. And try to realize that just because you 'leave' something doesn't mean you can't 'come back'. I'll give you that, you do clarify that this thread isn't about leaving, though not using the title or the original post. Thanks, perhaps you should have referred me to that post, really would have cleared things up. And yeah, it's be real nice if we could get vanilla ingots, or mod items to be compatible with TFC. But maybe the TFC discussion forum isn't the place to ask for that, we don't choose what you want, and we certainly don't choose what Biox and Dunk do and don't do with their mod. We can suggest stuff, if they like it they'll put it in, or parts of it, or maybe they won't. Which, hey, maybe a suggestion of allowing mod items to work with TFC would be a neat idea for a thread. Furthermore, I decided to respect your opinions and okay, some of my information was wrong. I haven't played Tekkit in a while, two or three months, and when I did play you could duplicate items. I played FTB a few weeks ago, and I've watched a few videos on it. I'm certainly not up to date with all the know how, and what do you know, it used to have a issue in which you could duplicate ingots. So I'm off by a week or two, hardly an invitation to be "humbled", which let me tell you I am certainly not. Maybe if you had insulted my mother, but better luck next time. Thanks for the clarification though, and I'm certainly glad to see that the mods have fixed some of their issues. I'd like to clarify something though. I'm not trying to argue with you. You've made a thread about how you're leaving, wait no it's about how you aren't leaving, it's actually about how you want to come back but you can't. Well let's give some suggestions, you could play both mods and be happy with it? No? Okay, well that kind of leaves us unable to contribute anything because, surprise surprise, we don't control the universe. Notifying us of your wishes that TFC was ultra-compatible and played nice with everything we put our hearts to doesn't make the genie in the lamp any more real. If you really want this to happen, try the suggestion forum, or hey, learn some Java (or if you already do, you're practically halfway there!) and start making them compatible. Hell, there's people trying that very thing right now! You could pop on over and see how that's going, drop some of your suggestions, and maybe contribute yourself. Thing's aren't going to change just because you wish they would, you're going to have to work for it or wait for the other kind people who are to finish. And above all else, if you want somebody to help, or give criticism, or convince you of something, or be kind to you, or really anything, insulting them is probably not a good idea. Let's try to remember that behind every set of text is a real person, sitting there trying to contribute. We've all got minds and feelings, we aren't just an automated response engine tailored to suit your needs. Treat others how you want to be treated, and step off that high horse before you fall off.

That's not at all what I meant... Constructive criticism on what? Debating about what? You're leaving the mod and you make it seem like you don't want to be convinced to stay. Techmods are pretty fun, I play them myself, I can certainly see the issue of running a server and the people on it like techmods more than TFC. Yeah that's a real issue, but you don't seem to want to choose TFC yourself, and yeah that is fine but it doesn't make it seem debatable. So am I supposed to say why TFC is better than those techmods? Okay, well then the first thing to say is that it isn't. It's all about opinions, and it's going to be hard to convince people to go against their opinions. Personally I like TFC more than techmods. Some popular modpacks such as FTB and Tekkit contain a load of really neat mods, but when you put that many mods together it's going to cause incompatibility and problems, I believe a major issue in FTB is that some things can only be crafted with copper(A) from mod(A) while the mod combiner made it so the world only spawns copper( B ) from mod( B ), and that can get really annoying, especially on a server where you can't just swap stuff out with NEI or TMI. That can get super annoying when you've made it halfway through a project only to have to stop. Another thing is that these modpacks is that they can get very unbalanced. Mod(A) might let you grind something up, and mod( B ) will let you get 2 from the dust you get, and then you can just grind up the 2 you have and get infinite amounts, and that can really take the fun out of it. Some also let you create something out of nothing or get a lot of materials really fast and IMO the gathering of materials is one of the best parts of the game! TFC makes things difficult, which is much more fun (for me) to have to get stuff, and it's much more satisfying when you finish your building. But hey, techmods are real fun too. So do whatever you want, your opinion is your opinion.

Are... are we supposed to convince you to stay? I'm not sure how to contribute to this thread.

Charcoal Briquettes (More reason to gather sticks!)
zoran replied to Quartaroy's topic in Suggestions
This isn't even close to a good time to use this statement. This statement is for things like "days should take as long as real days" or "you should get sick if you drink pond water (which I guess isn't even that bad of a suggestion, though it would get tedious to boil it)" or "If you fall 4 metres you should break your leg and have to lay in bed for 7 months". These are things that do not add much to game play in the means of fun and are mostly just tedious. Adding another way to get a very needed fuel adds quite a bit to game play a use for the 400 sticks I assume everyone has, and isn't tedious at all. It actually removes some tedium. Please, you can disagree with a suggestion but try to use constructive criticism. Anyways, about the suggestion. I feel like trees should drop sticks when chopped down, but getting saplings should only drop when you break leaves with your hands, makes it seem like you have to be gentle or something like that. -
It's not labelled as "hogwash" because we don't want to accept it, but because it (very likely) didn't happen. Misinterpreting standard Egyptian hieroglyphs as light bulbs doesn't make them fact, in the same way that believing that lead will turn to gold doesn't make it true. Baghdad batteries on the other hand, those look somewhat viable, we have physical evidence. I believe mythbusters made a set that could preform electrolysis, and since they are said to have come from 1st-3rd centuries AD, they could be implemented. On the other hand, they could have been used for nothing of the sort and may not have been batteries at all, and there is evidence that they would have required hundreds of them to be viable to be used for electrolysis. From a game play standpoint, in my opinion they are not worth implementing. On top of that, evolution is a fact (as well as a theory [this means that it had both theoretical and physical evidence]). I don't want to get into any sort of religious (or much of any other that doesn't relate to the suggestion) debate but referencing an over simplified and nearly incorrect version of evolution as being false, or at the very least debatable did not add anything worthwhile to your post.

The supposed "light bulb connected to the snake-stone" has been disproved: http://ancientaliens...nscripts/112-2/ And for those who don't want to read the whole thing: This relief is not so mystical if you have a little understanding of Egyptian art and religious symbols. This is a variant depiction the creation of the world in Egyptian mythology. The Egyptians believed that before anything else existed there was a vast primordial sea of nothingness.[8] They believed that the first thing to emerge from this sea was a lotus flower.[9][10] This is probably because the lotus closes at night and sinks underwater. In the morning it re-emerges and blooms again. It was believed that lotus flower then gave birth to the first God who was often associated with the sun.[11] This relief was done after the God Atum was merged with the sun God Ra and thus became Atum-Re. Atum the God who created everything else after this is actually represented as a snake.[12] And yes it is a snake in these reliefs not light bulb filaments, you can actually see the eyes and other elements of a snake if you look closely. This is pretty standard Egyptian mythology, that the lotus flower came forth first then the first God Atum – who was represented as a snake. Well what about the bubble surrounding it? I will quote an expert directly on this point “Despite the variety of deities, the Egyptians conceived the origin of the world as singular. Only one god (Atum) was responsible for the emergence of the universe as a bubble of air in the vast, limitless, inert ocean and everlasting darkness of the undifferentiated primordial waters (Nun) that existed before creation.” In other words the universe came forth from the lotus in a bubble of air.[13] There are other elements of this picture that back this interpretation up. The Universe bubble is here being supported or raised up by the Goddess Nun.[14] Nun is the primordial waters and technically it is she that raises up the lotus, Atum, and everything else.[15] This pose of outstretched hands is one of the more common motifs for Nun and she raises and supports the universe from nothingness.[16] The Egyptians did however use torches, and lamps/lanters (with oils).

Sheesh, I'd like to know why I barely find any metals when I search caves...

So, after quite a few months of playing this mod, I FINALLY made a metal tool.

It's rare to meet people who live in small communities? If it counts, I used to live in the Waterloo area... -
Marcomannic actually, which is a Germanic tribe.

Thanks, here's a template I made (to fit with the 8*8 ability of the detailed chiseling) based on real runes if you want to use them

Light Sources - Oil Press, Torches, Lye, Wax (and Lanterns soon!)
zoran replied to zoran's topic in Suggestions
This is a suggestion forum. I am not searching for a lantern mod, I am suggesting it to be added to this mod. Thanks for the input though. -
Hmm, maybe planks should be 2x4 pixels wide, and if the wood coloured sticks are added (I believe they have been sitting in the textures for a while) they could make the 2x2 pixel wide bits.
