      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Couple TFC Questions:

I remember seeing something like that before in a video with Direwolf and HatFilms. In the top right of the screen it shows the block name of the targeted block. Here's the link to the vid, where you can see for yourself . It's not part of the FTB mod, or at least it's a function I'm unaware of, but there seems to be something out there to do it.Though, like the other guys have said, it not something you really need to worry about a great deal. You'll eventually become familiar with the significant blocks and what they hold and the rest would just be something to check the wiki when you're trying to find something specific. (update) Well from looking through the comments, Gankachi said "You just need to go under the options in your menu (NEI) and you have to click on "Highlight Tip hidden" and it will show up!" Though I seem to recall something about an issue with NEI and TFC. Been a while since i've played and never really used NEI in TFC, so don't know if that issue is still present. But that is one way to check out the names of blocks without harvesting them, if if works that is . Oh, and Welcome to TFC, enjoy .
  2. Previously you've been able to get more then one type of ore from sluices, though unsure if anything has changed in regards to that. As for the nickel, I've never gotten anything but starter metals, but I recall people saying they could get gold and such from underground sluices (and to use them to prospect the area). So I'd image your able to, but I don't have any 1st hand experience there.
  3. How do i use mcedit witht his mod?

Well, pretty sure he was referring to this post: http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/1238-46c-experimentation-ores/ Don't remember where the yaml file is located, I think the 2nd or third page, but might as well give it a read to find out what to do, if you don't already know.
  4. Animals!

As long as they don't run off or get chased off with all your goods . Ohhhhhh, nice.
  5. What am I doing wrong!!!

Well, it's normally found by rivers, and there is normally an abundance of clay to be found in swampy areas. Also Clay can be covered by grass along the shorelines, so you might have ran over it without even noticing. So just be vigilant, maybe checking the soil along rivers, or as I like to suggest, you could always try posting your seed (and probably ur cords), and maybe someone with some time, could locate one for you. If nothing else, just keep looking and good luck. Also If you've just never seen how they spawn, here's an example, plus a link to several more. Album here
  6. I just got the worst TFcraft spawn imagable

That happened recently to my brother on our fresh SMP server. I spawned just fine though, so just told him to commit suicide, and then he spawned at the correct layer. Might have just happened because the world was still loading when he joined though.
  7. Yah, I too enjoyed passively getting ore from the sluices, while doing actual work. It's just that the last few times I have set them up, they've produced soo poorly that I could easily acquire more nuggets in the time it took to setup the sluices, fill them up and check on them.
  8. Only copper?!

Far as I know that rock would be borax, but that'd still require a pick to acquire. Which sadly would mean that he'd still need a tier one zero metal (pickaxe) in order to harvest it, before he could even make the flux with the stone hammer. http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Borax http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Flux
  9. Well, I didn't find on the wiki where it said sluices had to be in a river biome (though I really only checked the sluice page); but just FYI, it was just gold panning that had to be done in the river, sluices could be place in any region. As for your results, doesn't seem too surprising, though perhaps a bit unfortunate. To me it would appear that they had 'recently' been nerfed, so I had ceased construction of my sluice facility. My suggestion would be to just pick up the small nuggets off the ground (marking where you find several of them), and just get your starter metals that way. It'll be a lot faster exploring a bit, then dumping tons of gravel in the sluices while waiting days for just a few small nuggets.
  10. Deep caves?

Well they can certainly get large (seen below), but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're worth exploring. The one shown below I used like half my iron armor, who knows how many torches and and on one trip (I think) probably almost an entire stack of apples, and all I found was a coal deposit and some useless minerals (if not less). But on a slightly better note (still no ores), I've also found a water filled ravine with lapis and also a large deposit of coal in the bottom.
  11. Only copper?!

I was thinking that, but I don't think this is possible anymore, without stone pickaxes. Because, without access to tier one metals to get a metal hammer, the only way to get the flux needed for an anvil would be from borax, and I think you'd need the stone pickax to even get that (not that I have EVER found any).
  12. Freeze at converting world (mac)

Well not sure specifically, but since forge 113 or something, it comes with modloader so you don't need to install it (and they say just don't do it). If that does't resolve it (which I don't think it will), can you specifically list the versions of forge and player API you're using (mine currently works with forge ver 275 and 1.4 API). And can I assume that you installed forge and then player API, because install order does matter. Also, just FYI, it will do that when trying to create a flatland map or anything other then TFC default as the World Type. So my suggestion would be to just try a clean install without modloader, maybe an older version of forge, and let us know further details if you're still encountering issues. Hope you get it working without too much trouble Max and hope you enjoy it once you get it all up and running.
  13. Vanilla Minecraft getting anvils

Yah, without a doubt, the anvils in TFC look better. But if they're just used to crush things, I guess they work fine; though I think the spiky piston still would have been better.
  14. Crash using 1.3.2

Increase the allocated memory for java/minecraft? something like this ""C:Program FilesJavajre7binjavaw.exe" -Xincgc -Xms3G -jar "*********" ****** = where u have the minecraft.exe. (e.g. c:minecraft.exe) (1GB, probably isn't much for TFC, think mine normally runs at 1.7 in use) Make sure you're running the most up-to-date java? Is it just you that's crashing? And just open LAN, not a server over LAN? Crash occur if you host? Crash with different world?
  15. Animals!

Slinging packs on the horses too, would be interesting, though I also see a lot of dead horses from running off sudden cliffs and lots of small ledges.
  16. Black Steel?

Just tested it (after finding my first three gold and only filling up 99% of a mold , then having to search for more), and using the two liquefied copper molds, the one liquefied silver and the one liquefied gold, I was able to produce the black bronze (SMP, b52e, forge 4.1.4.275, API 1.5 server, 1.4 client). So that is the correct recipe still. You said you cleared the configs for the server, did you do the same with the client? AHHHH, found it. You said you used 'STEEL', it should be 'COPPER'. hopefully that's the simple solution to the issue you've encountered . and that would be for black bronze, guess I still have one more step to go myself , time to go actually test it. So after testing it with 2x steel, 1x nickle, and 1x Black Bronze, I was able to produce weak steel, hammer that into an ingot and then weld with a pig iron ingot to get high carbon and hammer it into a Black Steel ingot. So as I had said with black bronze , it is the proper recipe. Oh and welcome to the forums and TFC, glad you're enjoying it.
  17. AMINALS, HOW LURE?

Yes, it's basically the same as vanilla (currently) with some slight changes (wheat -> wheat grains) In the list of the plants in http://wiki.terrafir...com/Agriculture, the ones marked with 'b' are used for breeding. e.g. Wheat GrainB, Wild BarleyB, Wild RyeB, Wild OatB. Currently the animals do not mate by themselves, though this is getting worked on (http://terrafirmacra...c/2007-animals/), so not sure about how seasons would affect them. And also having wild wheat and other plants naturally occurring is also being worked on (I believe), so that might make it easier to lure the animals in without having to wait a season. Though, with having wild and domesticated animals, not really sure how that will play out (though I'm very much looking forward to these changes)
  18. Do map seeds work for TFC?

Just asking, but were you using the same version as the person who posted the seed? since the ore gen is constantly getting tweaked. Or maybe since the removal of the biomes, it's as you said. Cause I believe they were working once the sync between server and client got fixed.
  19. Higher level ores - Am I doing something wrong?

They definitely get harder to find (last I heard; lower you are = larger but more infrequent deposits). In regards to higher then tier two metals, I've normally only ever really found minerals, with the exception of one hematite vein, prior to my current world. Though with my current world I've hit several massive deposits of coal, Hemitate and Limonte and other misc minerals all relatively close together. So not sure if the ore gen got tweaked, or if I just got lucky with a nice seed. But you're probably just being unlucky ( I know the feeling all to well (some previous version not helping there)), I'd just say keep at it, try different chunks and probably try and different Y lvls too. If you really want to know the generation, you can look at http://terrafirmacra...mentation-ores/ there they got some techniques for testing the ore composition, and posted the data. You could look at the various data there, but I'm fairly certain that it is now dated with new ore/world gen.
  20. Climate Question

Yup, there are lapis blocks (had a pic in my last post). And yah, love their look. Lapis Blocks
  21. Climate Question

Well as for it spawning in TFC, I'm positive that it does. Though this was with 50 or 52, when the terrain gen was borked, but here's some picks of the lapis deposit. I was finding traces of lapis everywhere in this mine. Deposit 1 (blue stuff above water, in the center) Deposit 2 (also redstone) Lapis Ore Lapis Blocks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As for this, I believe I recall reading something about since they moved TFC out of the Minecraft jar, they no longer have the necessarily hooks in Minecraft to mess with snow. So they have to wait for Forge to access those hooks (or something like that).
  22. Combining Copper Molds

Well if you still have issues you can look at http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/1457-forge-wont-work or, which demonstrates what works or does not work in forge setups. Initial bend (works) Extended bend (works) Delayed bend (does not work) Further open delayed bend (does not work) BTW, I like your sig .
  23. Does clay only appear in certain biomes?

This might be the cause of a 1.3 MC feature, where dropped items of the same type will combine into one pile (e.g. dropping 1 stick and then another in the same spot will leave a stack of 2 sticks, as opposed to just two individual sticks on the ground). So if your breaking apart multiple clay blocks at a time, their drops will combine together. When this 1st started happening, kept thinking all my cobble stone was glitching out (the horror ).
  24. Good Mining Practice

I've had that happen, it's a pain. Normally when it's just small clusters left scattered (does not help when mixed in with 2 other minerals). I have just given up after turning the place into Swiss cheese where the ores should be located.
  25. Combining Copper Molds

You might be able to get it to work by just moving the entire chimney over a block and not have any cover over it. There seems to be a range as to how far it detects the path of the chimney, so if you get the bend done first, you might be able to solve your problem. (though that'd probably mean that you have rain coming right down on your forge). Also, does the trapdoor not negate the rain for you? I thought that's how it worked.
