      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. food preservation

If aspects of the game were added such as cows/pigs/chickens dropping less meat in the winter, I could definitely see the real need for something like preservation--a need for surviving through the winter. As it stands, though, I think all the ores should be given a purpose before something like this is added into the game.
  2. Total Ranged Overhaul

What about the various types of lumber, having an affect on the different levels of durability and damage?
  3. Zinc use beyond Teir 0

I think galvanization sounds like a really interesting idea. If it could be implemented in a way that would not put it in the earlier part of the game, I would definitely support. Perhaps, you'd need to make some sort of cauldron (similar to the vanilla MC one used for brewing) out of Wrought Iron or Steel in order to put it in the middle of technological progression.
  4. Mineshafts and mining

I think rails and minecarts--in some way, shape, or form--need to be implemented (in a non-vanilla way) eventually. My thought was, you could craft bars from a metal from each tier... Tin Rods, Copper Rods, Bronze Rods, Wrought Iron Rods, Steel Rods, etc. These, in turn, would be combined with sticks or logs to create rails of the various types. Depending on the tier of the metal, the rails would wear out quicker and need to be replaced after a certain amount of usage. Tin could even be skipped, I don't know.
  5. TerraFirmaCraft in the technic launcher?

I don't think including TFC in the Technic Launcher would benefit the TFC community very much... Imagine the waves and waves of people creating threads asking how the prospector's pickaxe works or why cobblestones and dirt are falling on top of them, instead of taking the time to read the wiki, guides, or other threads. The creator of the forestry mod seems to have figured that out and has attempted to withdraw his mod from the Technic Pack all together. Keeping TFC out of the Technic Pack, especially during this Alpha/Beta stage will only help the development, in my opinion.
  6. Whats planed for minecarts and such?

We should be able to use any metal to make rails. Perhaps the different tiers could reflect the speed with which the minecart is able to go over these rails. For instance, with Bismuth, my overwhelming abundance of this nearly useless ore could be turned into "Bismuth Rods" on the anvil and then, with a piece of wood in between the two rods, I would have one or two "Bismuth Rails." Because Bismuth is one of the softest metals, the minecarts could only go so fast on these rails. If I were to upgrade to Wrought Iron or Steel rails, however, my minecarts would be able to travel much faster. I don't know how difficult it would be coding wise, but there could even be an amount of times a minecart could go over the tracks before they got warn out and were unusable or needed to be replaced. While that might be a huge coding workload, it could be offset if only certain ores/metals in each tier could be used for minecart rods/tracks. i.e. Only Bismuth, Copper, Bronze, Wrought Iron, and Steel could be used. I do, however, believe that being able to send minecarts, on their own, to return to the surface is essential. They shouldn't require a player to be able to make it back, as that's how minecarts are/were used in actual practice. To offset this, maybe players can't use carts as transportation, who knows. As others have mentioned, I also think it's instrumental to be able to create minecart trains--at least 3 or 4 cars long. With each car having as much storage a chest (1 row), creating an efficient minecart track system would be important to stream-lining your ore processing.
