      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I want a server to play on and actually be sociable while playing, singleplayer gets old...

I am really just cool like that  :) I like to help though, in any way, just ask I will assist.

By the way, what version are you on right now?

  2. Yeah, poop is a bit of a no-no. There was a thread regarding manure and it was abandoned when we found out that dunk couldn't code it. Chickens are pretty dumb, even if they figure out how to fly, so clipping their wings by right-clicking them with a knife should keep them in check. Pregnant chickens give birth to live birds, right? How? If a chicken mates, it should look for a thatch block with a roof over it that's within 10 blocks and is possible to get to, i.e. not fences in the way. When it finds the thatch block, it will lay up to nine eggs; they appear in-game like placed pottery does, but with space for 9 per block. Leaving the chicken to hatch the eggs gives you baby chicks. Sprinting towards the chicken on the block scares it off, and you can collect the eggs. But you can't place them back in the thatch

Chickens can fly and can get somewhere with clipped wings, if they get out of the cage either way, it's like playing tag with Usain Bolt. Anyway I said in the coop they needed a place for hens to lay eggs, a platform with straw on it.

And poop is great guys... Fun stuff ;).

  3. I decided to try the new version and I ran stable at a whopping 15fps, so good enough. Now that was vanilla on the new launcher. How do you install mods now theres no bin or minecraft.jar. but multimc has all the old stuff I'm used to and I can't import my .minecraft to multimc correctly. I'm confused... do I need to just do it the old fashion way and make like 40 back ups and drop forge in 1.6.2.jar, run, then put TFC in mods? Does anybody use multimc anymore or is it broken? I would like to be lazy and use it.

By the way my internet is slow enough that multimc won't work on the internet, is that a problem?

  4. for a example of what me and sda can do, look up the name me thread in the off topic :3

thats just us going absolutely apeshit with fantasy, not even the slightest bit regular derail

I know KIllster, I know. Do you not remember me, I sure remember you and you haven't changed a bit. :)

  5. Exactly, grass is a secondary food. Even though cows live off grass, cows/horses/sheep should eat say 5 blocks of grass in emergency, stop and require "real" food. Therefore making animals live on dry grass hard but possible, especially if heat is a factor in there hunger.

  6. Pshhh, this stuff is nothing compared to the shenanagins that we used to get up to, entire threads would go on massive multi-page even multi-thread derails on a regular basis, this is just kid stuff right here.

Don't worry I know, I was 95% of the cause of it back in the day.

  7. Coming from a background of raising animals and seeing a related topic on the tread: Harsher Winter, I noticed how easy it is to raise animals in the game and get stacks and stacks of food at such a low cost (still staying with your balance, Dunk).

    Overall

Animals need enclosures sufficient for the amount of animals with space for breeding, or else the area is overpopulated and disease is a bigger issue than the resources it takes to build the larger enclosure. Disease spreads from animal to animal, even other types of animals, gets to wild animals, and takes over the world (jk). Wild animals carry diseases, gather herbs and make vaccines for your animals after taming. Animals need to be watered and fed every so often. My idea of how that can work is a status bar that appears when hovering over your animals, animals need to be fed like 3 times every Minecraft month because it's a game and feeding them day and night would be a problem on servers. Unless we want our game to be more important than our lives :).

    Chickens

I noticed the most problem here.

    • First of all, although they can not fly very well, with the assist of objects around them they can climb around 25-30ft up a wooden wall. Fences would be even easier. Horizontal fencing needs to be added, wooden just because and wire mesh fencing because coops need a outside enclosure because chickens are unsanitary animals.

    • Chickens need coops, indoor and outdoor. Chickens have to eat out of troughs because they poop everywhere and eating where you poop is not a good idea, try it someday and tell me how you feel. Coops must have an outside extension because being stuck inside with all your poop is another very bad idea and everything needs vitamin D.

    • A coop is a multiblock structure up to a certain size (they are fairly cramped by the way, I had like 12 chickens in a 149sqft coop). The multiblock is complete with an enclosed area, inside floor must be any practical block but dirt/grass with a trough and places for hens to lay eggs, with straw placed inside, outside must be grass with water on top or flush with the ground.

    Cows/horses/sheep

I don't know if you guys took out horses, but the only difference between cows/sheep is that they need shoes. All of these can be together, but they need a large pasture and a barn and stables, tack sheds are handy, but can't be inside the pasture. Stables can be inside the barn, since it's Minecraft nothing needs working doors. Stables are just a roofed partition for one animal with a trough and water, that's good enough for Minecraft. A barn is just for storage and a place to corral your animals, completely open space unless it also occupies stables, only must is a roof and straw. A tack shed is to keep tools and to tie up your animals out front, so no actual need.

    Pigs

Being unsanitary animals they need to be alone in a enclosure like cows/horses/sheep, but smaller and only need a roof over their head. Can be fed rotten flesh/meat.

  8. Wooden troughs for grain/straw and water would need to be added. Animals do get hungry, I've read that they eat grass when they do get hungry. When wild and domesticated animals have a clear difference, domesticated ones should eat from troughs instead of grass. I'm not sure if chickens are too mentally incapable of going to troughs... I always saw them as goofy little things.

I live on a ranch and know that anything will eat from almost any surface you put the food on. Chickens eat from troughs, you need them to keep the coop tidy(ish). The chickens will kinda pick it up and sling it if they don't just down it in a gulp, so the floor still gets messy, but oh well, the troughs keep the food from being on the nasty floor they poop all over and keeps them from getting diseases and the chickens really don't care where their food goes, they smell it, they'll find it, and they will eat it there.

Troughs are a nice idea I like that, you can scatter your grain on the floor, but once you get resources you want a trough to keep the disease on the down low.

  9. That escalated quickly... So, there's a new old squad? I don't know what that seven stuff was about, but do we roll up in threads followed by explosions and stuff and then noodles goes on about symmetry and Killster freaks out. I like it.

  10. I'm not worried about my memory usage, my server's memory usage is what I'm looking for.

I'm not familiar with that, so that may be the only part left out. Lol, I hoped that you weren't looking for server memory usage.

  11. Asus Z87-K doesn't look like it supports SLI. So there's that.

Far as power supply unit goes, 500W should be enough. Though I'd recommend something a bit meatier, like 550W or 600W. Just in case.

ROM drive... I mean, is it even necessary now? I guess, it kinda is, but I don't think there's much to think about - whatever spins will be good.

Oh... Thanks, that would have been bad. I was looking at 650Ws, Antec has the next TruePower series coming out soon I think and they look like they'll be fairly cheap and efficient. I may get a IDE-SATA adapter (can you say SLOW) and use my old ROM drive and get one later, there is some stuff I'll need it for right off the bat.

    So... Motherboards. Asus, Z87...

  12. Eternal is just too lazy for the forums, but I still talk to him all the time.

The originators of the forums seem to have mostly left, but there are a few of us kicking around still.

    welcome back.

=/ Well, I'll try to stay back for a while this time.

  13. F3, NEI, Rei's, X-ray mod, Optifine with debug tools on. Put TFC in debug, run windowed with taskmanager on the side.

That should cover almost anything you would need for administration/debugging. Also F3 (at least in 1.4.6) has you memory usage.

  14. - leaves will disapear or at least will stop droping samplings and sticks, so you are forces to make suplies of them.

    - maybe trees will drop less logs? you stockpile wood for winter not in the winter

    - add slowness if you move on snow (you cant run in deep snow), maybe new item snowshoes made from sticks and string/leather. if you wear them you dont get slowness

    - more wolfs, its hard to find food in winter and you got that cattle on one place :)

    - add small random deaths for animals (less food, cold, illness...)

    - make firepits forges etc to consume more fuel (effect like rain on firepit)

    - if it is possible change ratio of daytime and nighttime

    - grass stop spreading

    - ice, can be break by pickaxe, has chance of disapear if you stand on it of jump on it (like vanila farmland turning to dirt)

    - swiming in water add slowness

    - not cooked food will not saturate so much, only cooked

    - hunger will decrease faster

now that is scary winter :)

Not bad, but what are you going to do when spring rolls around and wolves have overpopulated and you have a nearly broken game. These animals don't spawn like vanilla, once they are gone, they are gone. Also hunger decreases fast enough, I don't want to start in a cold climate, take it slow and don't get metal before winter and now I only have the food I got with javelins, bad play on your part, but...

  15. $~1500 is a good amount to build PC out of. That'll last three years at least, without much of a problem. That's from my perspective.

Now, wadda you want me to say?

I was going for $1500, but I went a little higher mostly for the 760s SLI. I need a ROM drive, power supply, and maybe revise my parts like my motherboard, if it has features I don't need and there is a lesser one with everything needed for the other hardware. I won't change the GPUs or HDDs and the CPU is probably fine. That would be about all I need help with.

Also I can make it last longer than 3 years and still stomp some modern ones, update your hardware every few years and it will run fantastic. You may end up with a whole new setup in a few years, but everything you have on it is the same because it's ported, that's how you play it smart (clutter is somewhat of a problem though).

  16. Where the hell are all my friends and all the fun we've had. The forums used to be like an awesome colorful butterfly of awesome that just hatched from its cocoon. Now it's fairly inactive and I want to cry.

Somebody get Dunk, JAG, Eternal... guys I'm lonely.

  17. Still $1750 is a whole freaking lot, my new desktop only cost about $600 and i can run, among other things, TFC perfectly fine

Do you want to see what I can make with $3000?

I need a new computer for all sorts of stuff work, games, games more demanding than TFC, plus I'll make it last a long time and then build another in 10-15 years if I want. I set a budget for $1750 I can make it happen, I just need the other parts that will get me more bang for my $1750 or hopefully less.

  18. You sir, are badass. I look at the title and think oh god, look at the post and think oh god... and think it's a fantastic idea!

I wish water could wave and surge so you could have an amazing sailing experience and a really good challenge. I like this a lot better than crappy vanilla boats, being made in a mod the handling could be reworked and I will be a happy seafaring cucumber/llama.

  19. What of a possibility of a harsh winter (7/10 in a moderate climate maybe) and if you are in a warmer climate, nothing more really happens, as goes for the colder climates... good luck. I like Ktrey's idea of falling ice, seeing icicles cover trees and overhangs would look cool too.

  20. dude, TFC doesnt require that high of a budget at all, im rocking this on a windows 7 AMD 4250 HD internal laptop vid card with 4 gigs of RAM ddr2, on a core i5, nothing special XD just dont go throwing your settings into the crazy zone

but if you do want to game, that thing is a wet dream for any gamer XD

I have some serious troubles with it. I have win7, Intel Pentium T4400 (POS), the worst internal video card put in laptops in about 2009, and 4gb RAM

My video card is made for giving you a pretty, crisp picture on your screen, and that it does well, but rendering it cries and putters about and I get 4fps on about anything. Having a Pentium doesn't help, it's the last of its kind and I have no clue to why they used it in this computer.

I need a power supply and a ROM drive still, then I can do work.
