      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Additional Chisel Functions

  1. 1. Subdividing blocks into "cubits" increases bandwidth use because each time a "cubit block" is edited, the server needs to send the aditional 1000 bits to your client (assuming for 10x10x10 blocks). (-Dunk)

Dunk said 1000bits per block change which is 125 bytes which is .122 kilobytes per block change.

So your example with 40 people (thats a pretty big server btw, crazy to think they might be in the same area too) becomes .122*40 = 4.88 kilobytes sent for every block every person breaks.

Assuming everyone is breaking one block a second then you would send 195.3 kilobytes extra per second.

That's not really a lot of data and I would be surprised if a server that could handle 40 people didn't have at least that much bandwidth to spare.

An estimate of what a vanilla Minecraft server might use per person is about 250kilobits/sec, so a 40 man server would need to have a connection that could handle 10000 kilobits/sec or 1250 kilobytes/sec.

So this feature would require 15.6% extra bandwidth in the worst case.

A math error is possible, if it completely fudges the numbers then.... my bad.

I like this idea. Was think to start new topic with ma idea of sculpting.. And now. My Idea.

Add to chisel Sculpting mode. How it works?

One way:

Right clicking in suitable block will carve 1 microblock from 10x10x10 block (if block already slabbed - it's converts (or, maybe, better to use one data format for all slabbed/sculpted/staired blocks))

from pointing of cursor.

Another way:

Shift-Right click will point where microblock will cutted for this player. After Right click on this block - microblock cutted out. Another Shift-Right click will make another point on suitable block, or clear point if block not suitable for sculpting/slabbing/stairing.

P.S. -_- Sorry for my not so perfect English. I'm technician, not literator :) and i'm from Russia ;).

P.S.S. And... 1000 bits... not so good... For coding will be better 8x8x8 = 512 bits = 64 bytes = 0,0625 KBytes. But 1000 bits = 125 bytes = 0,12207... Kbytes. I'm think 8x8x8 will be nice compromise with detalisation and bandwith consuming.

It is interesting that Bioxx thinks about this idea?
