      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Lumberjack's real way

9 posts in this topic

Would be good idea to make the bottom block of tree stronger.

To cut a tree at the roots - it is heavier to do.

Or you can simply cut a tree trunk, it will be simpler, but remains stump.

Forgive me. I at all don't know English. But I should try to inform this idea to the developer, after all I want, that my favorite mod became as much as possible realistic.

You forget that he made some of the tree harder and softer. Few tree are made of harder wood like the Ash, Maple, and Hickory. And the soft type wood like the Pine, spruce and willow easy to cut. The durability of the Tool is affect the type of tree you cut down. Good Idea, but then you make it even harder to get anywhere.

no, i know it.

i dont know, how work a forge, modloader and playerAPI,

but i know, we have a method in entityplayermp "getStrVsBlock"

it return speed of harvest, with modification "inWater" or "inAir"

i check bottom block of tree. if i find it, i add modificator.

So my previous server worked. But in it there was a problem which I didn't begin to solve. Laziness was.

If you put the tree block again, it appears "bottom", and difficult gathers.

There is no such problem as again it is impossible to put blocks of trees.

I hope correctly read your answer and correctly understood your thought.

Few things here.

1) Believable, not realistic. This is what TFC is about.

2) Believable without removing the fun of the game.

Keeping those things in mind, the only way to make being a lumber jack feel more realistic is to make trees fall to the side, which is i believe in several topics already. It is also quite impossible in an environment such as minecraft. Causing you to have to hit a tree 10 times instead of 6 isn't going to add any more believe-ability to the mod. Trees don't have root systems so there is nothing to chop out under the tree to make it fall. As far as leaving a stump at the base of every tree, which easily falls into the realm of whats the point of this, there arn't any roots for the stump to be attached to.

Honestly, if you want a bunch of stumps to look like you just clear cut an entire forest just cut all your trees 1 block up and leave the rest there.

There is already plenty to do in TFC, with a LOT of talk and hinting at a great deal more to do. We don't need harvesting trees to be more monotonous.

hello. I would prefer if you refrained from using this realism/believability argument in the future. It is only a general rule, not the law in all situations. Please stop.

Sure, I can refrain from useing it. I think I've referenced it like 2 whole times, I just assumed it was a general understanding based on several other peoples repeated reference to it.

Just because other people do it, doesn't make it right. Didn't your parents teach you that?

But in all seriousness, your original points were quite valid, this isn't really the greatest suggestion.
