      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

My little apocalypse.

Hi everyone.

I just wanted to share my little storie and the lesson I learned :P

I was updating my server to the new version as usual, and I started the server.Lots of entityId warnings.

me: meh, don't worry.

Tried to connect and got "not in gzip format" internal error, tried to repair the world by forcing save, Finally tried to delete my profile from the map files and it worked, could connect but there was a big hole where I used to play.

Suddenly i realised how the "updated" server weight 1 MB less than the older. Then I realised what happened. I just installed forge and playerapi, and didn't installed the actual mod,and I forced the saving. Now i installed the mod properly and the new chunks are loading well, but we've got a "zero zone" a big hole, we need to move :P

lessons learned:

Always backup your map before update :P

Check the logs, if you are getting a lot of warnings,it's for a reason. check the instalation, and don't try to repair things in silly ways :P

Did I mentioned backups? :P backup your worlds!

ps: I will post screenshots from home :)

ps2: Backups are not for cowards

ps3: in case it sounds strange, english is not my language.

There's names for it... "Hell", "Atlantis", "the Bermuda Triangle" are some, but God actually keeps backups, so it's not actually there nowadays.

i had a similar experience while trying to analyze areas of my map in MCedit

i had on accident, deleted all the stone in the world instead of analyzing it !!!

thank god i placed my self in creative mode before editing

anyway i kept a backup of this devastated world as it can be useful

nah, it's not failed just cause a few peeps didn't get it (nope i'm not going to rant about having too much people here with less brain cells than leafblocks on a vanilla tree :3)

anyway, i got the joke and found it quite amusing, nice idea linking it to the creation story xP
